Sounds great! can you PM me a link for a copy?
This sounds great! Can I get a link via PM please?
I’m pretty sure them using Shaw when for unmasked Vader is because he was a seasoned actor who turned in an amazing performance. Prowse was a body actor. Look at his filmography on Wikipedia. I’m not really sure why he was so upset or what he was expecting. Playing tall imposing monsters was basically his thing.
Not saying that in a derogatory way at all. The body acting for Vader by Prowse is masterful. But that’s what Prowse was.
I not a huge fan of the prequals, but coming to accept them more since kenobi tie-ins and Hall9000 edits. I actually like this idea for the vader un-masking. and I never thought I would say that (also nice to see it released in HD or scaled). needs some sharpening on the eyes and maybe some fix on the skin under the eyes (compositing), but I like the effort here…still not sure hot it should end with the ghost and was going to go shaw in my extended version, which still might work since he doesn’t speak. I think shaws acting is good and that would still remain.
Nice Job on this. Never realized so many missing audio pieces.
Could not tell looking, and without comparing, but did you use all the music?
sample:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtRD2Vfsigg
Or was it just in some places? Seems like you may have picked and choosen based on where it fit in, which is good.
Ronstar
I ended up using some sound at the tail end of this and there was some music that is subtle but worked when leia looks bad at han
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSL6_PkTwD0
@Slavicuss, Yea, when colorizing, I use some reference shot are actual and FX-7 droid is blueish color in those, so the goal is to match the color as close as possible to the scene cut in
The audio for 21B in the extended version is quite extensive and uses radio drama audio, but it is a different actor “Russell Horton” as opposed to on screen 21B played by “Denny Delk” Did not plan to have 21B speak in that scene. When han speaks that he is not sure what “he” is saying, I am taking that to mean R2 as it is right after r2 beeps and chewie response (not sure if wookies understand droid though) I have clip of harrison saying “R2” and thought about maybe adding later so the viewer know better who he is referring to. Is that what you meant or who I planned to use for 21B in later scenes?
BW luke and the Rancor is another scene I look forward to colorizing. I have a good copy of, not as good as bluray, but good enough. It has been edited in by fans before and the scenes can fit well. It offers a look at luke using force jump which is pretty cool, the hanging part and the drop back and another shot…fairly short, but a nice added scene for ROJ
ifjg, Slavicuss, Ronster
Glad you like the colorization. I remember telling Benduwan (I think it was) that I had no plans to do black and white in extended versions, but once I saw the latest tools for this and how far things have come, I am definitely including what I can. Next up for BW is a portion of the Luke and Yoda training. I am also looking forward to Luke and the Rancor extra scene where he uses force jump.
Here is the version 3 of Tosche run in with Ronstar suggestion on less pink hue for wall on wide shot. I did leave the sky same color so it matches the next shot which is interior and the door way.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cMs8CV10oiwQoNAk3ay_gY4agpZDyrVN/view?usp=share_link
Benduwan, the interior of Tosche seen from outside was just extra as Ronstar pointed out, subtle effect added because I have the interior wall as a texture for 3D/2D compositing needs later on.
**Blue milk
@Ronstar, so I had to really look for this reflection thing, but saw what you mean and tweaked it some. It’s very subtle and not sure why it froze in that spot for a sec or two. …went ahead and composited it back in from original shot (not sure anyone would have noticed it… but none the less, might as well do it while I am in the file.
Below is updated. I did actually add your audio to my clip in my last version of it but will save your version as well. Initially, I had an issue just downloading the file. I was able to sync once I had it on the timelone. Not so concerned that the sound is a food processor or food “hydrator” as it is possible on tatooine that she is letting some stuff process or cook. Obviously the milk sound is there already. So yea it’s probably a cooking sound, but it’s a kitchen so I think its fine
Version 5…

and finally something I am a little excited to finish.
Comparison video below and will add it to start of tread.

This “Friends watch luke in tank” deleted scene, was tough since it had a lot of scratches and weird artifacts in it plus they forgot to load the camera with color film 😃.
This comes before the longer scene with leia when he is recouping which I have maybe 80% done as well and hope to get out soon. I am trying to go after all the ESB scenes first because if those are done I can add to the ESB Adywan cut along with some simple extension edits and get a nice V1 of ESB-X. Still have a lot of ANH and ROJ deleted to go, but much is in progress as you can see from the start of this tread that is indented to show status. Let me know what what you guys think.
@Ronstar…I get the red leaders engine added FX, but where did you plan to add “Vader Take off Hangar Matte Painting” what scene is that for?
Here is the fixed Tosche run in:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cMs8CV10oiwQoNAk3ay_gY4agpZDyrVN/view?usp=share_link
Per a post referring back to here from _Sky…
-fixed blue stairs
-fixed over exposed bright boxes darkend
-Added darkend interior of the right wall for inside the door
-Fix white matte lines
-Fix color of rocks to be more brown, fixed sky and ground to match previous shot
-Have not fixed the lobster artifacts as I am not sure what that is unless it is the darker colored distored pixels. I —think I may need a CG face or something. Can you share a picture (still grab from my video as to what you are referring to for that?
Here is the door graphic used for the right wall )taken from original image and Book of Bobba. Only meant to be a texture to use later and and these improvements

**Blue milk
@Ronstar after looking again I see that is the full audio track for your blue milk, that you shared, I can placed it behind for a version 5… Here is the updated blue milk file…5th iteration.

23.97 is this one and should work…had a few more dust removed, but starts 27 frames late as in my version it gradient wides from another scene
Your blue milk machine audio clip did not work for me as well, but I will keep trying
So I took a look at that chrome item mentioned and if you mean the reverse L shaped thing I think it is reflecting a reflection. because walking front of it blocks a reflection and it is not dark so when she walks by I think the expectation is that it should be dark when passing and then goes away, but in the original I have she passes and it stays dark. This assumes that is the chrome piece you mean. There is no image overlay on that area so nothing I did. I still are not sure if that is the object you mean. Maybe I can upload an image of what I am talking about. I checked out the steps and pouring milk sound and so see an old version of 29.97, but not what I thought I uploaded. My source project is 23.97 and and source clip looks ok…but maybe the mistake was mine … I did upload a new …Below is the new file it is 23.97. sorry if I am to blame…thanks for pointing this out as I want to keep these 23.97. The footsteps I think sound ok, but I do not want the audio on it anyway.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fhsYeC5bb-Jg0IikqY3B9vEI5vbadTGE/view?usp=sharing
Ronstar, I would like to use your audio and can just match it and reupload to save some time or for others, but your video is blocked for download by Vima (this one you did is the only video on your page that seems blocked for some reason). Disney must have found you 😃. Can you share as a PM or something? Anyway let me know if this works
Remember all the old computer games that had the Temple and the guy in the Basket well I tried to fix it so it looks like it should. And it put a smile on my face 😃
I looked at your blue milk clean up and I noticed the door frame wobble about and a reflection on a chrome object on the right has Aunt Beru’s reflection frozen on it after she has left the room. You also did not do the whole clip it’s cut short. I only noticed because I tried to join the original version and the clean up you did to make it the full length…
Like the man in bucket concept, I think that would be a nice add. Can’t remember without going in my timeline what adywan’s version on that spot looks like, but this might be a nice over edit if it was not changed.
My version is 27 frame short in beginning because of a transition circle wipe in my version from scene before. Tried to do to give, but lost the setting I used to match. end is 16 frames short and the same cause was going to jump to next scene when shadow is gone (it comes back but she is in other room which is prob the 16 frames you are referring. You could freeze the last frame and mask those shadows if that is what you are looking for?
I looked for the frozen reflecting in the bowl or whatever but did not see, can you give me a rough estimate on where in the clip it is and describe the bowl?
I did not remove frames, but sometimes they jump and sometime in these 23.97 clips they are jerky. I look and compare to orig, but did not remove frame as I recall.
Fix door it was a overlay to clean, but did not really do much and too much to align, so new version I will share has it fixed. Will upload after you show the reflection issue, I would like to fix that 😃
What software did you use for scratch removal? Any recommendations for a Mac user?
thx…
It’s all photoshop healing brush with content aware fill as defaults setting. Lately I have added a first step since the beta of the new restoration Neural filter AI in photoshop. You have to download the beta to use it. Been exporting every frame into photoshop beta with the AI neural filter and a scratch removal of 70 and noise 9. This first pass (I only do if it is a lot) will be time-consuming but will remove 80% sometimes it soften the image, not too bad for deleted scenes cause they are already bad. Also when I say 80%, it is removing hundreds of dust so its worth it even though I process each frame. I have an action set up so I can do maybe 60 frames at a time and come back and check. Then healing brush as a manual removal effort. Sometimes if scratches are over an image I have to use a previous frame and also some clone stamp usually this is only 1 or 2 frame so not that big a deal. Also I have isolated backgrounds before and cleaned them so I have a clean plate and mask the subject in After effect and recomposite. This is only for some things and when there is no camera movement. It all really depends on the footage. premier is my final editing tool but that is only because I am a PC user. No restoration in premier other than it has the best color match of the adobe tools (better than AE actually) so that happens for some footage - but premier has nothing to do with dust of course.

I redid the Techdome Edit to improve it and added the Blue Milk Scene.
Nice! if you want 1920 wide blue milk with no dust here is a link (no audio).
the google preview stinks so download to see full qual.

I spent 3 hours on this scene removing as many imperfections although you probably would not think that. The color grade is higher SAT to match adywan. Comparison below (yea the overlay ANH-X text is only on the comparison I do.)
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1onQ1ekaoUMFnVTxgiGQZyxStypkxhUdx/view
but obviously adjust to your taste if inserting. Mine is 23.97 as well. Enjoy
I like your background sounds in blue milk with the generators/kitchen equipment sound. My blue milk is going somewhere else (before breakfast) as there is radio drama additional meal scene and dialogue and using blue milk to set that scene up. but your edit works here perfectly and where it was meant to go I’m sure.
Your Tech dome looks great. I have more radio drama audio with 3PO and Mark Hamill which gives that scene a few extra seconds and confirms that what luke sees with treadwell was indeed the same ship the droids came from, but what you have here cleans up the “official” cut of this. I thought I saw an extra shot of oil bath at one time (was that your first shot)? I would have to go see if that was it? just a small extra angle if I remember. Only other suggestion is to remove the audio where 3PO sais he is not sure he has been in many battles as clearly time has passed since EP III memory wipe and now, although that is subjective and very small detail. I think there was a Youtube cut that someone tried that idea out.
anyway nice work.
I am trying to finish the colorizations of the ESB "Friends watch Luke’s bacta bath scene atm, but will go check out and do the tweaks on Tosche later mid-week.
Thanks for the feedback. I will take a look and see if I can tweak:
Thanks for the suggestions!
@sky_
Finished this scene for now,
Tosche Station #1 - Luke enters Tosche
if you want to full frame and res. take any elements from it, just PM me
You can access the comparison the main tread here
https://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Original-trilogy-deleted-scenes-restored-Project/id/94215
It’s not finished 100% yet as the second part is pending see the placeholder for it at that same page.
Tosche Station #2 - Luke exits Tosche to see battle w/friends - 75% complete[SAMPLE IMAGE BELOW}
Remember Google Drive has about 60% of the sharpness and image quality of these posted videos removed if you watch online, so if you really want to compare download it and see the full res (of the comparison clip that is)
So to keep with the face conversation. Adobe has released a new AI face enhancement in PS (you have to go frame by frame) which is quite good. I am using it extensively on the Tosche Station #2 and it is why it is held 75% and there is quite some processing to do, but I think this is a newer technology that gives deep fake (using a specific base model) or filters to improve the image a run their money.
LMK what you think of this scene so far. There also will be an extended version of these scenes from radio drama with live action so this is only released original footage and often I post with no or at least no new audio. I always do the video first (maybe with a stereo track and then music and enhanced sound will be the last thing. Enhancing that is an art in itself and just as time consuming sometimes. We have some users here on the site like Ronster doing some great audio and music work for scenes, so I don’t really want to reinvent the wheel too much as far as audio

https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/784954563The music from Radio Drama could not be isolated so I went back to my originsl music score I had singled out for it. Pretty much there on this one… Should there be sound for the game in the background? Anyway hope you like the choice of music snd sound effects. This took quite a while to do.
That sure is some 1977 music there in the ole tosche station 😃. I am almost wondering if it needs some electronic sound to it to make it more less earth sound, but not too bad and not that I have anything better yet. I started looking around, but not much fits it. What you have is close as it has a nice 70’s vibe though which is good. So I like this Tosche sound mix you have here overall. I definitely think the inside of tosche needs music in the background after watching a few cuts from others. I like your music before and after the inside scene too. Just curious when you music from radio drama could not be isolated, do you mean music at tosche station scene? I do not hear any radio drama music for that? I do think there should be game sounds in the background other than the air hocky table sound (which sounds like what they are using but it should be electronic).
I wanted to post link to actual game as someone had it online and could play it in the browser, which was interesting, but can not find it anymore. It is somewhat of a cross between pong and asteroids. It was not pool or a foosball table as some had thought.
One suggestion is to not have the binocular make a sound in that long shot as it stood out too me that I was hearing that soo far away. Just changing to add it on the close up (or closer up POV etc) than I think it would work. maybe add your POV shot that you have from treadwell but not collian corvette or action going on). Really like you POV of that BTW. I think it would fit in this scene when biggs has it.
I have finished the inside of tosche station first cut, but still working on talking out all the dust and scratches for the scene where he runs in. I have about 40 frame of cleanup to go. That scene is really bad so its taking some time. will post and then consider the scene exiting tosche outside with binocus another scene to work on, but that part is 60% done so at least its all coming along.
Keep up the good work. The sound and music play a big part so its very important. thanks for posting
Shouldn’t it be possible to clean up the “sith lord” audio at least a little bit with AI? Would be cool to see it somehow worked it in while Vader is outside the meeting room, followed by cutting to the meeting and playing the scene normally until he comes in.
Over the christmas break I am going to try and finish the sandstorm restored visually removing all scratches etc. I found a new free AI audio restoration tool that has a 7 day demo and was going to have a go at the audio for sandstorm (or the wind machines as it is). I may go ahead and take a stab at sith lord audio and see how it does Will post if others want to see if they can be used. There is a lot of different ways to cut that scene to try and include the sith lord line. Obviously the video with him talking is completely unusable, but if the audio can be saved, might be something to revisit.
I wish more or all surviving deleted scenes from the original trilogy would be officially released because we know they exist like in a new hope the Sith Lord mentioned. makes you wonder what other gems are locked away from us same with even the prequel trilogy. 😦
I think disney is considering “officially released” as what we get on disney channel. but there are some of the obscure stuff, that is so bad I don’t see them releasing, which is too bad. A couple to note:
Originals of:
-Extra shots of Obiwan at the tracker beam control (different angles)
-Some additional shots in mos eisley streets
-The extra ~3 sec in board room with “Sith Lord mentioned”
-severed head in cantina (although this is just an alternate vs the arm and I think ommitting this is better)
-extra shot at tosche outside with actors (some of this could be used to fill in and there has to be better as mentioned)
-extra shots of luke and treadwell (not ones in deleted scene)
-extra shot of vader walking in the tantive (only seen as a photo-but obviously was a moving shot)
I plan to use parts of the obiwan tracker beam cuts and mos eisley later though in ANH-X I think I can make these work as they are not too bad just need some work and creative editing to put them in
as Far as the opening goes I have to do sound for Luke Binoculars do you think if we cut from the planet surface to space instead of Panning down it would pan up from the planet to space? There is more tattooine planet matte painting to achieve this more than is shown in the film anyway.
Ronstar, what was you beginning with treadwell and luke and binocs going to be? or were you only going to have treadwell later and not in the beginning?
In my version, I was going to have an extra shot of the tantive and star destroyer above tantooine literly a top down shot and then the cut would be to surface where we see the sky w/very small blinks being the ships with the naked eye to tie them together and of course move right into luke at the vaporator scene so you get the idea that he is directly below and ties into what he sees the ships (more clearly) in the macrobinoculars. I am sure you can find some macrobiocular noise from somewhere else in the films and use that, but not sure where you need it?, do you plan to use it when he is looking at the ships?
I have sorted out somewhat the music and sound for an escape pod being destroyed before they are clamped in this was to go in the fanfare that plays on Star Destroyer coming over the tantive this also solves the “There goes another one” gunner line issue.
I had never thought of adding another escape pod that was not with R2 and 3PO as I just assumed they were others when they say the line “there goes another one”
I have a soundmix somewhat prepared for Tosche station scene where Luke runs into the bar.
I almost have this scene finished, but I keep moving to other things 😃 I might have just the interior first cut tomorrow. I had not thought far enough ahead yet as to music to put here, but interested in what you planned. I have seen a few other cuts where music was added but it was music as if they are listening to pre-recorded music inside (radio, playback, jukebox…whatever they would have inside)
I think the cut music from the radio drama when Han and Luke part ways at Yavin Base when they are loading boxes is possibly a music cue for Luke having the binoculars chucked at him
Interested in what you found here as well as I also have not finished this yet, also I plan to use the lines in the radio drama here where he mentions they are expensive when she throws them back. I am so close on just wrapping up these that I should just finish them…been working more on ESB deleted scenes as Adywan has a 1080P version of that and I could add and call it a version 1 well before getting ROJ and ANH.
I say this because it sounds very similar to the escape pod going towards Tattooine music cue but obviously this cue would then take us back up to the Tantive IV and captured princess Leia.
yes if it ties the scenes together I think it would be a good choice
I have a piece of music that I think will work well for the bar scene also.
Do mean inside the station? I never thought of it as a bar(it’s more of a garage and hangout in ANH I think (becomes a bar later I guess in book of Boba), but they do have drinks inside in ANH 😃…very interested in what you found for music (It needs something in that scene in the background but not over taking all the talking). So I had always thought that maybe they had music playing in the background which may be interesting and might be the way I take it not sure yet. I don’t like Jedi Rock as the jabba palace song and planned to use lapti nek in my ROJ version, but jedi rock in the background might work for the station since they are playing an arcade game and they are young…and the scene feels upbeat and very “music in a hangout place” …not sure yet
Do you have the extra shot where they leave the bar in your possession? from what I understand, it is quite low quality it’s not necessarily needed but it’s an extra shot…
Do you mean this one?
not sure if salvageable screenshot about as good as it would ever get unless they release better and need to have half of the image widen and this is the 340 x 600 never seen it larger
Do you think when Luke runs up the stairs towards the Bar we should see the escape pod in the sky?
3PO and R2s escape pod lands very very far from tosche/anchorhead if you look at the tatooine maps out there. If you have a pod falling in this scene? I would place it to let the viewing understood it is another pod (the other one when they say there goes another one). Not sure if the scene needs and seems like luke might notice it falling, but that might be ok and add to the scene…would have to see the FX completed to understand if it fits or would just be unneeded not sure. adding a compare clip from mine so far…
Here is my final go at the Vader Scene and I included the Treadwell being shot edit to show how I think it was meant to go also. I hope you like my final take on this 😃
I believe Luke and treadwell were meant for the beginning as in the novel and radio drama it is clear he is on the farm with them and sees the battle. I think its kind of where people expect it, but your take is artistic choice so I would say it’s what feels right to you. If you add there I would show additional shot of the homestead burning with a composited treadwell of center and some story troopers from some footage then treadwell getting shot so there is more context to where he is and what you are seein (that it is taking place miles away)
Working on the wampa attack in base scene and wondering if anyone has the full scene in better than 1280 x 720. I am have the scene from Bobson’s leftovers that is 1920 x 816, but it is missing the shots of R2 coming down the hall that I want + the wampa entering (same scene closer in). See the shots below. On the closeup, the wampa body is bottom right you can almost not tell its him in the sample, but looking to just know it is coming and not really hold on the shot to much, so need the earlier segment of that clip. Let me know if anyone has these is a higher res. Color does not need to match below as sample is more of a corrected color. If you have these scenes as original, they will be someone orange or brownish in tint. I am fine with that.
**Update, I might use the disney online clips of this as it seems to be the best unless someone has the 2011 bluray copy. I own the blurays but not the 2011 I guess. I was told those are the best master source of these, Can anyone confirm or do you have it in MP4 taken from this that you could PM me?

It’s not a criticism of the software, I just wanted to know if it could handle that particular scene, as the audio is very poor.
I may try this weekend with Adobe Audition as a break from ESB rotoscoping activities. Usual steps (for best results) are isolate the fans from the voices as best as possible and use that as a “noise print” to cancel out the fan on the version with fans and audio, than audio can be bumped up/raised clarified with EQ etc.
For a final though, will need to add some wind noise to the scene so it still sounds like wind but not fan and so we can control or raise voices when they do speak. Not sure on software Bobson is trying out, but Adobe Audition isn’t too bad for audio work I have tried in the past…just have not tackled the sandstorm yet. Agree the sound is horrible.
Long time, no update, but work is always progressing. I’m trying out a fancy new program and trying to isolate some vocals. Here’s Leia tending to Luke, with all audio noise and Kersh being muted.
So what software are you using? your example so far sounds pretty clean (well improved) to me
The Footage and the Sound are inseparable however you can have sound without footage and footage without sound and purposefully so yet it is the two in unison that will truly bring these scenes to life.
I agree to the sentence above. Some of the footage across the 3 films has sound and music and it is the secret sauce. Luke and Tread had none. The music I used in that one was some that made sense to me, but also if using radio drama audio Mark’s voice had to use what was behind that and blend. That particular scene that I posted is a first draft of it as I still wanted to go back and make real ships in the binocs, replacing the triangles and some other things. I am working on Yoda and Luke light sabre training and did add some music there and amazing what a difference it makes when you find something that compliments. Speaking of which, still trying to find the hi-res of the black and white portions of that scene to colorize (similar to the stills Bobson posted) if anyone has those let me know. The color scenes I have are fine. I would love to finish that scene.
Appreciate all the work others are doing and the small incremental improvements and creative choices that are attempt to find a home for these deleted scenes and fit them in with purpose and impact.

It’s Always amazing seeing other people tackle this awfully Damaged deleted footage
I can learn a lot from the process you’re doing in certain places on my Repair work
(if directed at me), then Thank you Sky_ …like I said looking at your 2018 kind of got me kickstarted in having a go at it.
I think restoration of this nature is also a process in which yes, you try something and then maybe come back later and try something else or see what others have done and it grows. I definitely understand the needing to walk away from a scene and do another after looking at the same image/s over and over 😃 as I think you may have mentioned in a post.
It’s challenging, that is for sure, sometimes I think these restorations are more work than shooting a new scene from scratch
Ronster, placing this around jabba and where they are already in mos Eisley is were I think most will place, but I am not married to it being here only an option. So definitely open to it going well before they even mention mos eisley on the overlook if the music makes more sense. Mos Eisley gets mentioned in Ben’s hut well before so at least there is some context when Basts says it in the hallway walk.
Thank you in advance for sending the raw clip you have and I can take a look. Version I have has major scratches over the last part (not sure if there is a clean version that exist?) and not sure what part of Bast’s voice you fixed? Can you point me to that as well and what your version fix has for it?
going to look again now at your first clip with it must earlier and listen to the music queues you mention.
Ok I re-upped it as a much shorter clip link below.
https://www.mediafire.com/file/dyh4ovojamgv2fy/Darth_Vader_and_Bast_Mos_Eisley.mp4/file
Worked. thanks
I am not far from having this scene completed. There are some dust that I am still removing. Where you have it at in your version is fine other than the cut to wide shot of mos eisley. Its a still and very quick. did you plan to add some moving smoke or something later?
The other shot choice is to have this right after Jabba so its not leaving a scene of them walking then vader than back to a similar scene walking. I like the establishing shot of the death start before to set the scene up. There is also an alternate version of the dialogue.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llCsBNgjWu0
I have both versions with dialogue downloaded and not sure which I will use, but I have a problem with the line search every house hold in the system when clearly the focus is on tatooine only and the planet is not a system. This is the the clue that this was remade for christmas special. I may use the other choice a fan has done.
I like the first part keeping mind probe and then maybe a combination of the two…also in the youtube Vader talks to much and the volume as he walks away needs to fade or just stop…so it’s not perfect, but I like having options
Also you cut out the scene with walking imperial director in white (not in screen clip) and R3-M3 the blue R2 unit on the death star we also see in background with obiwan later.
I spent some time restoring R3-M3 to have more saturated color and sharpness so I want to keep him. If I can break away from empire deleted scenes I may return to this and finish it and post, but right now trying to wrap up remaining ESB deleted
