STAR WARS: EP VI -RETURN OF THE JEDI "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - ** PRODUCTION HAS NOW RESTARTED **
Time

Now thinking more about it, I do say completely ax out boba fett from the movie.

Instead, there could be an extra character added that could be an imperial spy. Kind of like in The Force Awakens you had a resistance spy and an imperial spy …

Anyway, it shows a guy sneaking off the hallway, maybe after Luke kills the rancor. He could be in a cloak, or looks like some kind of bounty hunter or something. He Takes out a communicator and says “Inform Lord Vader Skywalker is here.”

If there needs to be more added about this concept: After holo escapes, the video screen can be used with an officer reporting to Vader that explains that troops found the Palace empty and rumors/reports that Jabba was killed and Skywalker escaped. Vader can be silent … or just choke the guy … whatever is needed.

It adds a good connection for the first part of the movie with the rest. It also goes with the scene with the emperor commenting about Vader’s search for Luke and telling him to just wait for Luke to come to him.

Too bad the footage from the old Star Wars Interactive Video Board Game only exists in VHS quality, as there’s plenty of shots of Vader at a communications console. He could probably take the call from Fett while in his pod though.

I agree it would be in the pod. The screen makes more sense its communication to the bridge of the executor. Or it could be between other ships. But, that scene COULD be used in this way. If there was to be a bit of an overhaul, one idea would be to build two sets. One that is the inside of the pod and the other a hallway in Jabbas palace. The main issue is the very few lines for Fett. So I came up with this idea

FETT IS WALKING DOWN HALLWAY IN PALACE. STOPS, BRIEFLY LOOKS AROUND AND OPENS A COMMUNICATOR. SCENE THEN CUTS TO EXECUTOR. THEN CUTS TO INSIDE OF VADER’S POD

VADER: Yes, Bounty Hunter? SCENE CUTS TO VADER’S PERSPECTIVE LOOKING AT HOLO OF FETT IN POD.

FETT (DISTRORTED): Skywalker is here.

VADER: Good. I want him alive.

FETT (DISTORTED): As you wish. ENDS TRANSMISSION

The rest of the scene could be the pod opening and reusing the scene you listed above for the video screen and having some lines between Vader and an officer about sending a fleet/shuttle/ship what ever to Tatooine.

Later on after the heroes escape, a scene with a holo of that office or a trooper commander can inform Vader that the palace is empty and no sign of skywaylker. It could end with a person in a vader suit just ends the communication, pauses, and walks off to end scene. Or he can choke the trooper/officer via the holo.

The no boba fett flowed pretty darn well. I am curious how the audio could be altered to flow well with those scenes. Anyway to prevent the silly demise is good to me!

The second video worked good too without so many “my master” sayings. It does help Vader not be such a lapdog. But, to play devils advocate, would Vader need to speak that way to either keep his ideal plan to over throw the emperor secretly and appear everything is normal? All is good master?

We know Vader wants Luke to join him, but it is evident Luke doesn’t want to. He needs the emporer to help turn Luke to the dark side, then kill the emporer, Vader really doesn’t think there’s any light left in himself. Till the end? Does Luke’s speach about his father before him do the trick? It was only when Luke was getting shocked he betrayed palpy. He thought about it too. That was his chance to kill the emporer.

Interesting, and I was thinkin about it, but I have to quote Threepio:
I just really don’t know how.
I can’t put the whole thing together. I don’t know what outcome Vader expects when he turns Luke over, because he must know if he lets the Emperor run the show, than the possible outcomes are not in his favor at all.

I am sure Vader is not sure too. When on Endor, after Luke refuses to join and is led off by the troopers, you can tell Vader was thinking things over. That could have been the beginning of the conflict, maybe second guessing his decision(s). There could be time for him to choose what to do when he brought Luke to the emperor. It wasn’t until the VERY end when he made his choice, which had to be a QUICK decision. Save Luke or not.

As for the Death Star plans, why not have it start with the centered dish, then cycle through a few designs when R2 is plugged in, ending on the correct one.

Later, during the briefing, use the correct design but keep the slightly more primitive “look” of the graphics.

I love that!

I do too, that is a great fix! Makes great sense! Almost like the first image is like the first draft or a logo/symbol for the Death Star Plans.

Quick, tell Adywan!

TFA: A Gentle Restructure (Released)
Time

I pretty much forwarded to the changes from the version you have available to see what you have done.

All in all, I like the idea behind those changes. The more I thought about TFA, the whole firing twice didn’t make too much sense. Also, did that mean there were two suns next to the base? Did they need to use that high power laser on a small base when a fleet could take out a small resistance base? (Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed TFA, really did!)

So the idea of the Resistance trying to stop the super weapon BEFORE it fires adds the suspense and the importance.

Anyway I am curious about the “next” version that is being worked on. I am curious about a few things. Would it be feasible to remove the light side of Starkiller base when it fires? It has drained the Sun so I would think there would be no more light for the planet? Unless, is that planet relatively close to multiple suns like Tatooine?

Lastly, is there a way to further tink (somehow) Finn’s line? especially at the end he said “…they’ve done it!” What did they do? If there was a way to change the dialogue with other sources, could it be done to end “…They’ve made it!” or “…They’ve found us!” or something short on those lines? I don’t want to be one of those guys that nit picks every detail, since I am happy with the edit and like the direction.

Anyway, I like the direction of the edit a lot. The good guys won and lost at the same time from their mission. Sets a better mood for the next movie coming up.

I feel like the ANH:R graphics were too pretty and clashed with the used universe aesthetic of the film. I wouldn’t mind graphics that are a bit more low-fi but still fixed the dish placement. It would be a shame to break continuity with Rogue One but the blue TIES and red bacta in ESB:R already kind of do.

Okay, so TIEs and Bacta tanks come in different colors. No big deal.

Obviously after the Death Star was destroyed, the empire decided to make their TIEs more intimidating, so they made them all blue. The Bacta tanks took all the red.

That’s all fine by me. That means too he would need to use the pink engines for the x wings.

Also, I would like him to use his idea from his edit using the y wing for the attack plan. It made a lot of sense when the diagram depicted a y wing “dropping” the Proton Torpedo in the exhaust port since those are the bombers. Plus it was the y wings attempting the trench runs … until they failed and the X wings were used as Plan B kind of when you think about it.

I like what he did with the target display on the falcon, it made sense showing the TIES on the screens. It made those screens actually useful?

My point is that’s not how they looked in The Force Awakens.

I rewatched that scene in TFA to remind me of the difference. So they used arrows as a symbol for the target. Ady could use that look so it keeps that consistent for TFA. Really anything would be an improvement since having nothing makes that target display useless.

The Prequel Radical Redux Ideas Thread

Just to play devils advocate - if the PT were really THAT awful, we wouldn’t feel they could be saved through the PREQUEL RADICAL REDUX thread. Right?

That is a very fair point. There are GOOD things about the prequels, Im sure many agree to different degrees which is all fine. Which is why there are these threads and topics about “fixing” the prequels. Personally, most of the problems from these films were acting/dialogue, directing decisions and plot holes. From a non radical change up, stuff that Hal did with his edits helped with some of these areas.

Granted this is the Radical redux thread, so this could be an endless discussion to completely transform the films!

I read somewhere, may not have been from this site, but I think it was to start our the movies with Anakin being younger but already a padawan? That could be interesting.

I am conflicted about the x-wing engines.

I think the “simple” rationalle is like cars, each year the same model car does go through some changes. Different years have either minor or major over halls.

The pink engines turned into red engines, there is a good bit of time from a New Hope to Return of the Jedi. Tie color changed after A New Hope. It could be the “gray” models came from the Death Star.

Also the Stormtrooper helmets changed to black teeth.

Boba Fett is a bounty hunter, he works for credits.

He would know Vader/Empire wants Luke based on the events of Cloud City. So it would be financially practical for him to go straight to the empire/vader with that info. He has credit with Vader, so there could be an “open” communication, or at least Vader would either take Fett’s calls or take the information seriously.

But that is also a good point Vader would not leave the Death Star II to search for Luke based on the Emperor’s orders.

Hmmm this one is a thinker.

I too agree with NeverarGreat. I like your concept to make it more film, but I think it also gets too dark and the highlights are a bit off. This way you get the more film look AND renders better in my opinion.

All in all, I am VERY curios to watch yours. Trying to make Anakin (and his relationship with Obi) more like the Clone Wars would make everything better about Ani. 😉

Just thought I’d bring this across from the unofficial REVISITED suggestion thread.

I’ve read numerous posts in regards to removing Boba Fett from Jabba’s Palace during Jedi. While I understand the reasoning for this, I think it would be more interesting if he was their waiting for Luke to attempt a rescue Han.

After Luke arrives, Boba Fett can inform Vader that Luke is at Jabba’s Palace. I would probably place this after Luke has killed the Rancor, but before him and Han are reunited:

INT. DEATHSTAR. VADERS CHAMBERS

VADER sits in his mediation chamber. BOBA FETT appears on the view screen.

VADER:
What is it, bounty hunter.

FETT:
Skywalker is here.

VADER:
See to it that he remains there.

Vader leaves the Death Star aboard his shuttle.

Then I would place this after the barge explosion and falcon/ x-wing leaving Tatooine:

Vader can then arrive and enter through the main gates of the palace (mirroring Lukes entrance), however he snaps the necks of the guards using the force, and finds the palace practically empty. This would be after the barge explodes and skiff zooms away…

To me ROTJ has always felt a like a film of two somewhat disconnected halves, I think this would go a long way to remedying that.

Another idea for ROTJ would be to have C-3PO inform Han that the Ewoks were already preparing an assault on the Imperial base, therefore their weapons and traps are justified (I know this is something that bothers a lot of people.)

That sounds very interesting and I understand the reasoning behind it. Now, how feasible that is to implement, that would help tie it all in. Also it flows with Vader’s drive of seeking out Luke, like in ESB.

A small edit from that idea would be using the Executor and Vader’s chambers, instead of the intro of the death star 2.

Adywan, may the force be with you. I am excited about ROTJ:R and ANH:R(HD) getting started. ESB:R was great, well done, and good use of a “special edition” star wars. ESB was/is my favorite and you did it justice. So I know you will do great with this and ANH:R(HD)! (Some MINOR things needs to be changed from your ANH:R, and it will be gold like ESB:R!)

From your original post, I like everything you are planning on doing and am curious what else you will come up with! ROTJ is nostalgic and fun, but compared to the other movies, it does have some issues that I look forward to you “fixing” or “adjusting.”

As a Boba Fett fan, I would love some touch up on him and his fate … Even if its something as “simple” as something like that fan made teaser trailer back in the day with the Boba Fett movie was being planned by disney.

(for those who didn’t see it: https://vimeo.com/137925493) It can be something short and needs no dialogue …

But whatever is done or not done, it will not disappoint me since your work is great!

For the battle of Endor, the Ewoks showing the back way is good. Even the “surprise” attack at the beginning of the battle is ok … since the element of surprise is effective at least at the very beginning of the battle against technically advance enemies. Making your own shots of rebels shooting/attacking the imperial troops would make it a battle instead of what should have been a slaughter for imperial troops/atst against little bears with stone weapons. (I love my ewoks, don’t get me wrong…)

Maybe troops land by use of a quick scene of a/some U-wings for the addition troops? Would tie in Rogue One a bit.

Other than that, that’s my thinking outside of what Ady stated at the beginning of his thread.

I’ve been reading your thread about your edits. I find it all very interesting!

I agree with your ideas and though process with this. The Clone Wars portrayed Anakin exactly how he should be. He had that right mix, which made his “downfall” that much more tragic. He was actually likable! Unlike the movies …

So I am very curious to see this. I would love to see some edits or at least glimpses of what you are doing. Very very interesting!
