A buddy texted me about Adywan’s revisited star wars a few days ago, which was great for me since ESB was released and I downloaded it. I also downloaded ANH to watch it. I will say, I am super impressed. I have the Harmy’s versions which are a superb edition that removes all the unnecessary things from the special editions Lucas has been sending out.
However, Adywan did it right! For a star was “special edition,” I liked it alot. Also from reading his posts that he will be doing an HD version of ANH with some corrections, albeit some are pretty necessary, I am excited!
Based on his list of changes, if I can add just ONE thing for his changes that he didn’t mention… it has to do with the added CG dog fight with the TIES and X-wings. I liked that a lot too. It helped add more to the scale of this battle. He can keep it in, he did well with it and I do think it matches with the style and look of the movie. BUT, it does have an awkwardness to it. The awkward is the silence. I think a “simple” fix (I have no idea how to do this, so I do apologize if it is not “simple” and is a lot of work) is to add some talking. Fortunately, with the distorted communication between the pilots “radio,” I think it can be done. There were a lot of x-wing and y-wings, so the voices would not need to be the pilots we see or hear from the movie.
By adding some lines like “one is behind you” … “TIES on Sector _____” … etc, with the distorted radio voices … I think that would do it. It would really match the whole rest of the scene since people were constantly talking. When a bunch of TIES come in … I would think there would still be a lot of chatter!
Anyway, that is it for me. All in all, this is an amazing edit. Based on the changes he will make with the HD version, it will be even more amazing.
