STAR WARS: EP VI -RETURN OF THE JEDI "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - ** PRODUCTION HAS NOW RESTARTED **
Time

I could go either way with the eyebrows. Removing the eyebrows makes more sense since Ady has included the PT lore in the edits as Ash brought out. From that stand point, he was burned with lava. Looking at Vader’s bald head shows the damage removed all his hair. Eyebrows are hair. So to me it would make sense for the removal.

However, I would not really care that much if the eyebrows stay. Not as important compared to the list your provide Valheru … I agree with pretty much all of it. 😃

Here’s how the scene looks once it’s fully baked into the rest of my timeline. I recreated the wipes to and from the ships flying by because I slightly retimed the fade of the music to match, and so I could use the original sound effects of the ships which would be jarring to lose. I think NeverarGreat’s recoloring of the deleted scene itself blends more smoothly into the rest of the film, so I’ve used that.
I am certain these are issues with the source material itself, but Leia’s line about taking action against the First Order sounds as if it were cobbled together. And it sounds like she is doing a Rick belch as she says the word “insane.” I don’t remember noticing these before, though I probably haven’t done such a close examination. Not big deals.

I see(well really hear) what you mean about the taking action sounds did feel cobbled together. There is a slight off-ness to it.

Personally the belch isn’t bad at all. 😉. I don’t think that stands out at all compared to the rest of her lines, it fits with the way she talks.

You are all awesome for working on this. I can’t wait to see it all done. My buds are doing a Return of the Jedi & Force Awakens viewing before the new movie comes out. Hopefully I could show them this version if it gets done! (Obviously no rush or pressure, I’d rather wait for more polish then “rushed” out. 😃)

I listened to that part again and I didn’t hear any dead air, I have ambience running throughout. You may have misheard it or maybe I’m missing it! If you wouldn’t care to double check I would appreciate it. You should hear that locust-like sound all the way through.

I also watched it on my phone, so it’s entirely possible that I’m dead wrong and my phone’s speaker is just shit. I’ll try and give it another listen later on.

I think its your phone Ash, the ambient noise is there.

The first clip is great, really good editing and like the narrative based on your edit.

I will say I do agree with all what Chainsawash has said on his previous posts. I appreciate you want the air time for Saw, but it would be better to take out those scenes … especially the Gullett scene…

Lastly, having K2 silent with the bag is genius. I like it better this way!

For the first Act, I like your ideas which is similar to Digimod’s. Remove the title cards, very unnecessary. Also removing Bodhi’s first scene helps with the whiplash.

Thinking more about the third act, I think I do agree with your option 3 may not be seamless to rework. Maybe option 2 could work alright. There is so much you can do without deleted scenes or dialogue, so I think on the flip side … maybe less would be more.

Personally not a Bor Gullett fan, but hey, its your edit and at least you will try to reduce the CGI-ness and that losing mind line being removed could help.

Essentially I am all aboard your first 2 act ideas, some of the miscellaneous ones I am on the fence for, specifically the easter egg ideas. I do like you want to reduce things from it …which would be better than leaving them as in.

On a personal side I like Digimod’s edit … just personally wish he left the cassian first scene and the line “I’m blind” and it would be perfect to me. 😉

I know this is impossible, but I’ve always loved that deleted sandstorm scene after they blow up Jabbas barge. Luke and Han have a very tender and heartfelt parting.

I would have loved to see this scene included in a ROTJ with a slightly darker tone. I’m sure Lucas cut it because it didn’t fit with his happy-go-lucky vision for Jedi.

Ady said no to this scene due to the poor quality. If some super ambitious person wanted to tackle that for their own fan edit … that would be impressive.

I am very excited for the success of the donation drive. Thank you 1,000 Challenge. Very generous indeed, I am glad our donations went further. I am excited for the production of these projects.

Obviously all the contributors need a cameo in the shots in the celebration scenes/riot scenes. 😉

Anyway, back to IV … fortunately Ady would just need to really, all in all, do some minor things for this release…

Actually, everything has to be re-done. Ady doesn’t have his original working files, and besides, none of that would upscale to HD. Plus he’s said he won’t be reusing images of ships and such from other parts of other films, it’ll all be completely brand new shots. Which is great, because the Star Destroyers from Empire are one of the little things that pull me out of the movie when watching.

Sorry I wasn’t too specifically what I meant. Naturally he would need to start from scratch to properly “upscale” to HD. My
Comment was mostly based on his original release … essentially how man changes/additions he would do for the HD release.

I do like his decision on not using shots from other movies, specially the star destroyers. If he can remake those scenes on his own and make it appear seem less on his edit I say great!

Or instead, change the plot of VI so instead of another DS, it is something else. What is funny now when I think about it, in VII, when comparing Star Killer Base, they used the original DS instead of DS2 … so one COULD make an edit that removes a DS2 and it would kind of work for the movie canon … at least based off the next movie after VI!

Anyway, back to IV … fortunately Ady would just need to really, all in all, do some minor things for this release… remove the “electrified” needle, add more green to planet to make it look like Scarif, remove music with Obi & Vader battle (and the spin!), make hyperspeed spin for continuity, add radio noise/talking to his added TIE fighter scene.

Oh yes, and a nice easter egg of a walking K2 unit somewhere in the background at the DS … that would be really neat.

I am very glad Ady will be adding some more B-wings and new pilot scenes, I would love to see the executor being taken down by B-wings. He could totally keep the scenes on the Bridge … but take out the crashing A-wing and instead have a 3 B-wing Squad do a full blast on the bridge.

The B-wings did NOTHING in the movie despite their function as a capitol ship destroyer …

I am not really too sure on Jabba’s palace. It is easy to say “use CGI to replace some of the puppets,” but would it stick out if one cannot make really good CGI to blend it. Some editing could be nice, I am curious how much content he would hack, alter, or even change!

If Ady was to keep the original “plan,” then I think just tinkering a bit with Luke’s Rancor scene would do it … make it SEEM more planned then not.

All in all, after reading everyone’s comments about shuttles … I am good either decision Addy makes. When you looks all the different ships the empire has … they don’t really distinquish themselves different from similar models. All TIE’s look the same. All Star Destoryers look the same. Etc.

Ady changing Tyderium is completely justifiable … the same kind of model ship the emperor and Vader uses for a supply shuttle? Doesn’t make sense. By changing that, it fixes that problem and keeps Vader and Emperor’s shuttles as personal shuttles for the top brass.

That’s fair enough Hal. Though you are missing out on some great titles mentioned here! 😉

Looking forward to the complete edit, V1 has a great flow to it with that change.

There is a minor thing I noticed which may or may not be a big deal.

So, now that we see the First Order essentially straight above instead of that … rem,“space time disruption”… Here is what I noticed

After that, there is that visually neat scene with the TIES coming in at the semi sunset background. So two things. One, they are coming from a distance … but the scene earlier shows the Star Destroyers and TIES straight above. Two, that scene in general, though cool looking, seem’s to be from a different time of the day, closer to sunset when prior, during and after is more like the middle of the day.

I just thought about it and am curious if others have noticed that?

As much as Camo would look neat, I say leave it as is. The empire’s troops are more of a show of force … so it is not a necessary fix.

As much as I like the idea of adding woman, albeit female voices for imperial troops … I would say no to that as well. From the original trilogy Movies wise … it has been a male army. Granted, there are books, shows, comics and games (all canon) that do show there are woman in the empire … but in the movies, there isn’t that portrayal.

I am ok with Ady adding woman to the rebels. In the movies we have at least 2 high ranking woman as the rebels. (Leia and Mon) That makes sense and is reasonable to add woman to the rebels. Ady has confirmed female pilots, which I say sounds good to me. If he was to add to the ground battle and have some rebel forces, I say yes, add some woman there too!

Yeah, I don’t see any need for camouflage either. The Stormtroopers are in white armor all through the OT. The TIEs don’t have any shields. The Empire isn’t too concerned about their own casualties. They win by numbers and intimidation.

The Empire is essentially the Zerg.
