Star Wars: Heir to the Force (TFA edit) Released
Time

Oye I finally watched your edit.

All in all, you did a fantastic job.

There were some good cuts and a good flow to it all.

The reduction of the Rathar scene was good since it didn’t drag on too long.

The “masked” interrogation worked well. I personally like the thinking behind it. Somewhat wonky, but hey, I like the idea better.

Good job about cutting away Chewy during the Ray and Leia hugging was good … such a silly mistake on JJ about that part.

Granted there are some cuts I miss … like the troopers walking away from Kylo’s frustration.

Not a huge fan of the holo-snoke, personally a bit distracting to me visually. Plus the idea of a more realistic take of the hologram from TFA shows some improvement on technology since the PT era and OT. Even without that point, it was a bit distracting to me.

Nothing wrong with suggestions, people voicing them are good since it gives the project leader some thoughts or points that he/she may agree with and implement them.

Anyway, if there is to be more work down the road with this project, such as a V3, an aspect I liked about Digmod’s edit was the removal of Finn in the TIE shooting the troopers on the deck. He JUST decided to leave the order and his comrades. Would a person that quickly attack and kill his fellow troopers that quickly?

Later on after some time, and being chased by the order on Jaku by trooper and TIES, now it would make more sense for him.

My personal thought … well, obviously first done by Digimod!

Ah didn’t respond fast enough … and both Ridley and Neverar point’s were similar to my thinking as well.

Also, I was thinking too once the line about the first order looking for 2 fugitives and a droid, that would be a bit of a confirmation about Rey’s and Finn’s story. You have 2 “kids” and a droid in your stolen ship … I would not right a way believe their story.

Granted, that is minor, but it also could help Han’s motivation to help them out too. Even a little bit.

Alright, I wanted to get this out before I called it a night but my computer was acting up so I didn’t have any time to make it pretty, but here’s a very rough idea of what could be done with the music:

That’s pretty cool. Which cue is that? I like the part from 0:13 and after. I think before that the Snoke music could stay as it is. And then maybe the new cue could come in slightly earlier so the brass part begins after “once and for all” but before “prepare the weapon”.

By the way, I’m editing the audio for the deleted scene now, it’s going well.

Just watched it and I agree with Ridley. Also, excellent Ridley with your task!

Here’s another attempt at that little scene. I added some faint distant explosion sounds when we cut back to Finn and Rey, as well as using audio of Finn breathing heavily from earlier in the film (as in the previous clip I posted). I tried to thread the needle with the music as we transition into Snoke, and I think it’s much better than the initial mockup.

This works well, it’s interesting to see all the new ideas being tried!

The problems I see with this clip:
• At 0:25 Kylo needs to be replaced with Hux, shouldn’t be too difficult though.
• At 0:31 where Snoke looks over to the side. If Hux is the only one there Snoke’s gaze should be fixed on him. So the cut needs to happen sooner or the shot needs to be slowed so his head doesn’t move.
• At 0:47 the “Snoke music” keeps playing, which for me doesn’t work. I think it only fits in the presence of Snoke and I’d rather see it replaced with a bit of something else. Perhaps a more orchestral cue could start to build over Snokes last lines to give a different feeling to them as well, as “prepare the weapon” is now a “hand me my gun” type of line rather than “we will fire eventually”.

For the second bullet point, I think it is ok with him looking off. It seems more like when he is talking, it’s like he is saying that line and is also thinking/pondering over the matter, which get’s interrupted by Hux line. It seems ok as is … at least to me.

If they wanted to show off that background, why didn’t they turn the lights on?
Looks like there should be a “Closed” sign in the window.

Obviously the empire had a green initiative with their ships. Lots of complaints for the low flow toilets though.

Neverar - Very fascinating concept of breaking things up. The mockup video had some good ideas and I would agree with Hal its ok to be away from Rey a bit. Hmmmm. Obviously from your list and parts of the mockup video one of the obvious issues is the who helmet and pacing for Ren being off and on like crazy. 😉

For Hal, that alternate solution can work since it now gives a reason to target the resistance since their main objective has been completed … time for the next one.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

Sure, I’ll take a stab on your comment Darth!

I get your thinking and can dig it, but I think that may exceed the scope of Adywan’s project or goals. I will agree that from the film there was a lacking of ships. I did appreciate Adywan adding that extra battle scene that helped expand the scope of the attack.

That would involve changing scenes or adding dialogue to the established characters, which is something I don’t think Adywan is doing.

I am in favor of his added battle scene to add some radio dialogue of different pilots to add to the chaos/scope of the battle with the tie fighters. He could use voices of multiple people using a distorted radio effect … that’s all I think that scene would need if he was to use that or something very similar to what he did before.

Here’s an idea: cut back to the Resistance planning room right after Snoke says “Bring her to me.” Since they’ve just been talking about the reconnaissance ship and the Resistance Base, it makes a lot of sense. Then after the Han/Leia farewell scene show the establishing shot of the TIE’s over the the Starkiller Base mountains from earlier (where I assume it’s been deleted in favor of the planetary establishing shot), then cut to Rey’s mind trick scene. This also gives Rey more time to figure out how to mind trick the guard and less time aimlessly wandering around the base.

Ohhhh, that sounds like it flows better based on the conversations of characters.

After all these years I didn’t think these films held any more surprises for me. Until earlier this year I discovered a new droid I had never noticed before! It can be found in the first shot of the Executor bridge as the Rebels are trying to sneak onto Endor in the shuttle Tydirium:

A closer examination of what’s left of the prop reveals that it’s a retooled torture droid given an Imperial makeover:

I believe this droid is the unacknowledged inspiration for K-2SO. As they share the same basic shape and height. In that same shot, a crewman approaches the droid and it towers over him. He’s hard to make out in stills, so I’ve outlined him:

So I was thinking, in line with the TFA bunk easter egg in ESBR. You might consider something like this?:

Just a thought!

Wow I never noticed that at all.

It would be really neat and a nice easter egg if we get a K2 unit there. It wouldn’t be so obvious in your face but if you catch it that’s neat!

This current idea is pretty eloquent which could be pretty smooth if the transitions are smoothed out, slightly. When I watched those it wasn’t too jarring. Just edit some sounds/music and it could work fine. Even some transition wipes would work too.

I do like the goal of this project idea to have the base fire once. The resistance both succeeded and failed at the end at the same time.

As another edit, maybe Never’s starlight project would be a good fit for it.

Lol, then the PT did something … right? Since he didn’t fall into a lava pit but … got lit. 😉

Anyway, whatever addy does I won’t mind his choice.
