The Rise of Skywalker: Ascendant (Released)

No matter what the crawl has to change. The resistance only “knew” about Palp being back is from the “Mole’s” intel. If there was some broadcast PRIOR to that scene as the crawl says … then why was everyone so surprised like that? If anything, it was just a confirmation of news EVERYONE heard.

The scene played out like it was the first time anyone heard about it and surprised to hear Palps is alive. It was very strange and confusing … it didn’t make sense.

It has to go. There is no reason for it and the movie itself contradicts that not too far from the begining. It would be like a movie opens up with a voice over saying “President Bob of the Happy Toy’s company has been killed and everyone is in mourning” and the movie shows the president giving a speech to his employees and they are cheering.

What the heck?

The Last Jedi: Rekindled (Released)

Re-watching the Radio scene, I think what feel’s off to me is essentially reusing scenes of Kylo’s facial reactions that occurred with Rey & dice to be then used again for the radio. Granted, the way you cut it it seems like his reactions to the radio are truthfully genuine and could have been in the movie … but since it is recycling the scenes, it makes it a bit too “fan-edity.”

A suggestion I would have is to actually remove the Rey scene. In TLJ, it was showing that Rey was “done” with Kylo and severing the link she has with him. But in ROTS … it’s kinda like “Lol, just kidding, we still connected yo.” So really, we don’t need that scene or metaphor/symbolism/etc.

By removing that, you won’t have to reuse scenes to make it work. Also, for fun and giggles … I wonder if it would be better to try and use “less” dialogue for Palps? More static before and after with him simply saying “find me?” That way the scene and moment has more of an impact to take it in? Also the different dialogues and laughter don’t really match up … kind of like in shows they voice over scenes and you can totally hear it not matching the scene. Plus, I think Palp’s voice needs to be distorted a bit … that way it is not too clean.

“Hello there”

I’ve been lurking once again and will be happy to contribute thoughts and ideas and experimentation once the movie is out … I am certainly hoping for some decent deleted scenes to play with.

Anyway, for the current topic about moving the things around for the Leia and Han thing, I like the idea … it would be neat to see and would add a “better” reasoning for Leia’s death, something more than just communication with him since in all the movies that seems to be the “easiest” thing for force users to do with little effort. (Granted, I know the crew had to do something since the passing of Fischer … so you gotta work with what you got!)

The technical issue will be Ben’s face. When Rey heals Ben/Kylo from the lightsaber wound his scar is healed away. The Han and Ben conversation has his healed face … so it would be a lot of work to add the scar back in doing all those scenes.

That’s a valid opinion regarding Kylo’s Ascension to power to be quickly threatened … but from the movie view stand point … that’s the case right away in the crawl of TROS! So yeah … the threat to his power is already there, even if it isn’t shown right away any way.

I’d like some kind of subtle laughter or something, even in the background somewhere. I don’t know, gotta watch these scenes again and see what can be added in.

I sat down and read all the posts here about some ideas. Admittedly, I prefer the Rey Palp over No-Body since Star Wars has been built on family and bloodlines. For those who like twists … she goes against hers! Done! Lol. Granted there are valid points for each side and I await the fan edit attempts!

I also am very curious about doing some tie in with Last Jedi and Palps … making that some kind of cliff hanger or something. That way there is some kind of motivation on screen for Kylo/Ben doing his stuff in TROS. IF that isn’t really possible, at least remove Palps return from the crawl’s first sentence! Also, it’s strange that the line of “Palps broadcasts his return on the radio” but the Resistance only knows from the info they got from the guy who’s intel came from the Mole (AKA Hux) … so it was publicly broadcast but not at the same time?

How easy do we think it would be to shift Rey Palpatine from being an actual biological granddaughter into being created by Palpatine the way he (probably) created Anakin?

He’s done it before …

I gotta admit for myself I went it with low expectations because of the Last Jedi … but I came out of it with some joy since I didn’t at all after Last Jedi.

I am ok with people who are for either pro Jedi, con jedi, etc etc since there are valid points on each side. (same for TFA too, though I liked it more than TLJ personally)

To sum up the issue with the new trilogy is a lack of creative cohesion for the trilogy. It was unfortunately doomed at the beginning when Disney decided
To have 3 different directors with seemingly limitless creative decision making.

I’ve seen the movie once and plan on seeing it again. First observation is needing a little more breathing room in some areas. I also like the writing of the characters better too.

TFA: A Gentle Restructure (Released)
Time

This is such an incredible edit and enjoy it very much!

Sad for me that my friend hosted a mini marathon of the sequels and did not want the fan edits … only original movies at his home. After watching those, it always helps galvanize my appreciation for edits to help approve on it. Your restructured edit really helps improve upon the plot/actions involving Planet DeathStarTM and the republic … that was just awesome!

I will be curios to see how the final movie goes to see how it affects these edits, I am hoping either minor or not at all.

As per your through Hal about Emperor’s laugh, it would be a neat experiment if you did it in a subtle way … maybe have it combined with a Snoke line/laugh or something. I feel like less obvious/more subtle the better.

RogueLeader's Rogue One Edit (* unfinished project *)

Oh man, been awhile since I’ve looked at this. I did complete an edit with all the mentions and views of Vader will the end. I can certainly use your suggestions Hal.

To make sure I understand your suggestion, which I totally will try if I got the time, would be to keep all the lines via Tarkin talking about Vader, but the only “visual” of Vader is him getting out of the bath (But remove the rest of the Krennic stuff) and the hallway scene? I’ve also have NOT touched the floppy disk scene, it keeps the tension which I like.

Star Wars Episode III: Labyrinth Of Evil (Released)

I admit it is hard to look at it in the eyes of a newbie, since a lot of the changes you’ve made are good and help improve on the movie.

The hardest part is the whole Palpatine deform thing. We can logically say he is “unleashing” his dark side … or his “true” form in a sense. But when you watch it, I understand it does feel kind of random. I think I am kinda ok with it, but I do understand that is a bit harder to logically explain it, since originally he was getting deformed by his own lightning …

Also, I get the confusion maybe from the jump of Anakin has the dream, gets up and walks out and then goes to Palpatine and basically says “You summoned me?” I kind of pause at that too and say “wait … what?”

Granted Hal, that is some minor critiques from me because over all, I love it.
