Tarkin with no color correction:
Tarkin with no color correction:
Two more without color correction:
Here's another shot without color correction. There's more than just grain (and simple sharpening/edge enhancement) going on. I entirely DNR the picture without removing detail (a careful process apparently no one in Hollywood knows how to do) and deblurred all the edges, and then add 70mm grain to the image. You can see what I mean if you look at the edges of the holograms in the game they are playing, the edges are crisp because of added detail and not basic sharpening techniques.

Anyway we can see a comparison without your colour correction? Just to see the grain detail.

1080p? Seriously? Did you upres the 720p picture of the BD to 1080p?
Essentially that's part of what I'm trying to do.
Another test shot:

So maybe some day, I was thinking of working on a project of enhancing the picture of the SE Blurays, fixing the horrible Bluray color correction, enhancing the detail, and replacing the 35mm grain with 70mm grain (finer, more detailed, and more “HD”).
I’ll post a few more test shots, but here’s at least one finished.

Let me know what you guys think, and if anyone would be interested in me doing these later down the road, after I finish my PT preservation and PT edits.

We don't need to be spoon fed every little bit of information or have everything explained. the audience is more intelligent than that. Biggest problem with the prequels is the over explanation of everything. This kind of film making just talks down to the audience. Have people become so brain dead in the video game age that they have to have everything explained on screen?
This is the reason why PT:R will be so amazing and why existing PT edits have failed to reach anywhere close to the quality of the originals.
Also, anytime Adywan has to post on here to fix something, all it's doing is taking away time he is spending on Revisited.

As a Christian, that is crazy. And upsetting I may add.
I second that. If that isn't a hack, he's gone on to full insanity there.
FAIL on my part. I put the chromatic aberration filter on the wrong layer in AE making it look too incorrect. I'll edit the post with the correct screenshots soon. I should remember to double check the image before I export it.

Honestly, the more I get into it, the more I find this film to be the ugliest and hardest to fix, despite being originally shot 35mm.
Episode I (Anakin is tested):

Trying to match Episode I to my versions of Ep II and III, while fixing the waxy DNR.

Also, the green sabers look unusually forest green in the YouTube clip of Utapau. Maybe it's just been to long since Jedi, or the Blu-ray coloring makes it looks wrong and I'm not compensating for that right in my head, but I remember the green saber in the OT being lighter and more of an acid green.
Yes, I know the green color isn't correct in that clip, I'm tweaking the skintones, lasers, and lightsabers still in that clip.

Still loving this 100%. Any chance of getting some clips with audio? Pretty please with a cherry on top?
Audio will come soon for sure. Haven't gotten into the audio side of things as much, but will certainly do it soon. I think my next clip should have audio.
I'm working very hard on this now, and am very confident in getting out a reasonable release date for all this. Though I'm certain, once finishing all the films, I'll be making tweaks throughout each film to give the PT more visual continuity. I really want all the films to look like they were shot similar much like you can tell in the OT.
Much more revised version of the Opening battle (now the full scene). This has better skin tones (though it could need a bit more saturation), now uses the real 35mm film scan for grain (just like the last two clips), further gets rid of the cartoony colors (look at the buzz droids now), and tried to enhance the detail without oversharpening. This is pretty close to what is the final version, apart from some work to still do on the lasers and lightsabers. I would again recommend watching in 1080p to see the grain and fine detail work.
Wait, is there a rough cut available or something?
ANH:R had plenty of sound work, it's 5.1 mix totally beat all the bluray SW mixes to shreds, and considering how much more talent, experience, and knowledge Ady has gained since then, I don't feel like his new sound mix will be any disappointment.
To me, the sound is just as important as the visuals.
Utapua (in motion). This one is almost done, though I have to still add the warmth and saturation back into the image (it's far too cool and unsaturated right now and there's some odd reds I'm still working on). But you can see the digital sheen stripped away and the cartoony colors gone. I kept the grain fine but made it a little more prominent then the first clip. It looks very filmic now. I also adjusted my encoder settings a bit to make the grain more visible, so you should be able to see it decently enough in 1080p (though the compression artifacts still mess with it a bit).
Cool, I so badly want to see a peak at the rest of the saga. I find it funny, I get more excited about the Revisited saga then the idea of the new films.

I do feel it looks more real, but yeah, it's hard to see on the Youtube. Also, I've always felt Mustafar, oddly enough seemed like one of the most real places, as the used sets for the metal parts; and then the lava, being simply lava, looked pretty real. Lava looks unreal normally, so it looked fine in the movie. Basically what I'm saying is, I love what you've done with the colors and such, but it might be more interesting to see a video of something else.
It looks great without the compression artifacts and if you compare this with the original, this one does look a lot better. Also there is some slight flicker added to the the scene (and in extension the whole film)
I know this isn't the most radical example. I'll probably use the Grevious/Obi battle on Utapua.

Awesome stuff!
So yeah when is H265 codec coming for the general public to use?
within the next two years I would guess.
Mustafar battle in motion (youtube may have goofed with the color a bit, the image appears to have been made a bit more red). This is nearly finished, except there are some shots where their faces appear odd. the grain I am now using is from actual 35mm scans, but the youtube compression artifacts hide it even in 1080p, but you should still notice a much more filmic texture.
If the H265 codec existed by now, I'd release this in 4K.

Am I the only one who's seeing the original pixelated on that one?
I'm confused, what do you mean?
Another screenshot from the mustafar battle:
I've been using Windows 8.1 beta for a while, and certainly brings a lot of improvements to the metro interface and the integration with the desktop that really makes it feel much more as one.
For example, the metro control panel controls virtually everything the desktop control panel does now.
But minorly, most importantly to me it allows the start screen be transparent over the desktop (though it hides everything on the desktop apart from the background). While, this seems really minor at first, it really makes the OS feel much more like one UI and that the start screen and the rest of the metro is an extension of the desktop and not a completely separate ui.
There are plenty of other good improvements, but I'm sure you can read about them online. Honestly, Windows 8.1 is the version of Windows 8 that should have come out in the first place.
