Here is the longer trailer I have been working on.  As I said a lot of the choices reflect my personal choices more than they reflect the votes, but I just wanted to practise with After Effects and this seemed as good a way as any.

The shots aren't all finished, but I just wanted to get something together to try and get a bit more discussion going here again.  Let me know what you think.

And It's already blocked... :(

Here's the clip.  I think as far as dirt removal it worked pretty good.  It's not perfect and the tape splices, horizontal lines, and vertical lines are still present.

Perhaps this script would speed up the process of bringing these scenes up to a presentable standard? They are gonna need a little more TLC than just this script but it certainly helps with dirt removal and sharpening. I've turned the sharpening way down to where it's just a bit sharper than the original scene.  It might be better with less or a bit more.  I'm not an expert at this by any means.

EDIT:

Here's another from ESB.

That's great!  That would do definitely do most of the hard work.

STAR WARS: EP V &quot;REVISITED EDITION&quot;<strong>ADYWAN</strong> - <strong>12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW</strong>
Time

Of course the OT has always had bad bluescreen/greenscreen along with the matte lines until fixed by revisited.  The thing that I am still noticing, at least in ANH:R was the almost cardboard cut out look of some fx and objects.  For example, many of the explosions in the revisited battle of Yavin have absolutely no 3d shape to them and look and in a way cheesy.  The blue TIE's just make that cardboard cut-out look worse.  The PT, even though filled with terrible CGI, doesn't have this problem.

What!?!  You must be crazy!!!  Actually, I don't know if I can even get any SD footage.  But remember that the deleted scenes are SD, so I don't know if we can go HD anyway.

They'll look fine in 720p HD as long as I can figure out how to rip the bluray properly so I don't keep getting annoying compression artifacts.  I could keep trying to rip, but I'm not sure which mt2s file has the deleted scenes.

I'd love to show all you guys the sandstorm scene when it is completed.  I am currently color correcting it followed by a lengthy frame-by-frame process of removing dust, scratches, etc. from the picture.  I have perfected the process enough to get rid of the possible randomization that can occur while cleaning the footage.  You just have to be very handy with the clone stamp, spot healing brush, and magic eraser tools to do so.

Well since there's gonna be a second round of voting, here are some images from the wishlist that caught my eye. They would be a LOT of work for the animators.....but would also be awesome additions to the films.

Now, that's the kind of stuff we need.  If the animators could pull off stuff like that, I might actually survive watching ROTJ after the PT.  Seriously, the PT star wars fans I know pretty much don't like the OT because they lack that.

Yeahp! I'm a bit ashamed of it now looking back, the colour is real screwed up and I couldn't really make a face change for Sidius work in the lighting for this scene, in all it was rushed and based off another trailer I'd seen, to make matters worse it starts 26 seconds in, that's why I'm making a completely new trailer once I get this blu ray going

Looks awesome!  Best trailer I've ever seen for TPM.

This is what I was thinking.  George Lucas WILL be making a live-action television series focused on events between the PT and OT.  If an edit Ep II could be Ep I and an edit of Ep III could be Ep II, you could (when the tv series ends a long time away from now) create an Ep III out of that.  This would remove TPM totally and could help to bridge the PT with the OT creating a better saga.  Just a thought...

I'm not sure how to colorize film, but you can make it look very good if you have accurate refference material. The problem with all 3 of the colorizations of It's A wonderful Life is that they didn't have color photos of the sets and people. The main problem with any colorization is that the colorized footage lacks varied colors. For example, a person's skin is made not only of different shades, but of many different colors. If anyone wants to take the time, it is possible to do it frame by frame with photoshop. Right now I'm going through ANH:R for accurate frames to compare for color-correction of the deleted scenes.

Okay so here's a frame from the Benker Redux scene. The only point is to show the improved coloring of the building. (although the color's aren't perfect yet, possibly too cool) Most of this scene is over-corrected, as I usually try to see how much I can improve the scene before it starts unatural, like it does now. Plus, they're are some bad compression artefacts. http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/99681

convenient! I'm working on th ROTJ deleted scenes right now. But, I could really need some help on the BD ripping process, I was just going into my ripped footage and it doesn't seem to have compresssed properly or something, as I could see compression artifacts I didn't see on my tv. I'm using DVDFab trial, as I don't know what's the best ripping software.

Yes, i could post some stuff. Right now, they're in very rough fixes as I'm finding that you have to change settings everytime a camera angle changes and I'm pretty sure some scenes need rotoscoping so I can adjust things such as stormtroopers, skin tones, light reflections, etc. seperately. I have to say if anyone's attempting to do these, it's NOT that easy, but it IS possible. (And, with proper and careful sharpening, you can bring up small details, you couldn't see before!) I'll see if I can get a few frames that actually look decent enough of improvement to show.
