Star Wars Prequels 35mm 4K Filmized Editions by Emanswfan (a WIP)

I have noticed that before, and have been trying to figure out how and why those lens distortions exist.  Obviously, it's not a tilt shift lens.

And sorry, I've been low on updates.  The depth map creation is a time-consuming process, especially when this is the first project you are doing it on.

The nice thing is that with a depth map I can add shallower depth of field to many shots and maybe like in the above example above, have it more prevalent on the top and bottom.

Check out anything Aardman Animation have done in the last decade or so. It's all perfectly smooth as silk. If they can do it with plasticine then it can be done it with rubber puppets and physical models.

Aardman Studio Tour

Oh yes, I remember their stop motion films.  I have the Chicken Run and Wallace & Grommit movies on DVD.

Some of the best stop motion animation out there for sure.

Sidenote- I just Aardman Animation is bringing back my favorite series as a little kid!  Morph

After watching season 6 with the Yoda Arc, the Clone Wars just has to be edited into a trilogy.  That Yoda Arc, is everything I loved about Star Wars, and everything that the PT lacked.  Our (star wars fans) prequal trilogy is there for the taking in the Clone Wars episodes.  Now we simply need an editor out there with the Force guiding them to create the prequel trilogy we have all been longing for.

Nighsisters - Mandalorians - Maul and Savage - Mortis  - Yoda:  These arcs should provide enough for a trilogy.

Those are good arcs for films, but you still need to insert some form of a Ahsoka introduction.. Maybe a recut of the opening of the Clone Wars movie.

Loved Season 6 with the exception of the Jar Jar episode. I cut it off after he started making out with that other alien queen.... Yoda's story was great. I was kinda expecting more closure for Ahsoka, but not a deal breaker. I guess I can accept she just left never to be seen again.

I think Ahsoka could maybe be told to the audience that she is Anakin's padywan, because honestly I can hardly stand Ahsoka many times in TCW movie, yet she's one of my top 3 characters of all Star Wars movies/TCW.

In terms of arcs to be used, I'd avoid Maul and Savage as they don't have proper closure, and I'd probably put in something a little more normal SW, if you know what I mean.  A good Anakin with Obi-Wan in the battlefield arc.  Together as "brothers".

Side note: Funny you mention not finishing the Jar-Jar episode.  Jar-Jar was annoying, but I found it great that Windu, throughout the two episodes, looks just as annoyed as anyone watching (including me).  Some of his facial expressions were hillarious to me.  It was almost like Filloni was trying to tell us, "Yeh, Jar-Jar is stupid and we know it."

I'm confused about this miniaturization effect. When VFX guys shoot models, don't they use lenses meant to make things not look like miniatures?

The process I am using is hard to explain at the moment, as I'm figuring out how to accomplish it all as I'm doing it.  The previous examples were really just a few radial depth blur filters.  The depth map allows true depth (more realistic blurring) to be added into the image, plus I can achieve far more realistic lens distortions.  Plus, there's just too much detail in some CGI shots (and if you look closely there are shots that have aliasing CGI in them).

Again, It's going to be some time till I get it all worked out to show a video, and or screenshots, but it will be worth the wait.

And technically speaking, I shouldn't say converting to 3D, since I'm only getting depth info.  I'm not "painting" in the missing background/foreground edges.  That would most certainly require a real professional-level program, that I can't have.
