Nice video, Gaffer! It must be nice to be able to get your thoughts out like that in an audio/visual medium.

i've fixed the size problem and have him standing behind the stump and at a more realistic size.
Awesome. I can't wait to see it.
Speaking of Force Ghost Obi-Wan, what did you decide about this scene

where Obi-Wan is only a couple feet tall and floaty? Did you move him behind the stump, making him standing really far away from Luke?

"Speak up, I can't hear you back here!"
I have no problem with mini-Obi-Wan. It just makes his close ups really funny to me.

"I'm disappointed that I'm small"
topdawg193 said:adywan said:oh yeh. i've also added the "jedi ghost" glow to the scene where Obi-Wan appears to Luke on Hoth.
Ah, great!
I was wondering, what 'style' of Force Ghost is appearing in the 'Revisited' saga? In ROTJ, the force ghosts that appear there (Obi-Wan on Dagobah, Yoda, Obi-Wan and Anakin on Endor) are all quite consistent; overall blue glow/hue, a shimmering frame, and transparrent.
But in ESB, the Force Ghost design seemed inconsistent - on Hoth, Obi-Wan looked practically like his living self, but slightly transparrent, while on Endor he had a thick blue glowing line around his frame (similar to the blue atmosphere line around the planets).
I personally always thought that the ROTJ Force Ghost appearance was the definitive one - it was certainly the most consistent, and the most ghost-like to my eyes, as well.
OK, I never noticed the difference, so I looked them up. Being me, I had to share (GOUT on top, DVD on bottom, from WG's Split Screen):

The shot Ady is referring to. Ignore the Dreaded Blue, of course.

The other scene from ESB that he's trying to match. Notice out the DVD actually looks like its trying to match Return of the Jedi because of the Dreaded Blue.

Force Ghost Obi-Wan from Return of the Jedi. Notice how the DVD version takes away the Dreaded Blue in this scene. Why?

The last time we see Obi-Wan. Ignore the Dreaded Hayden.
So we have different shades of blue, no shade of blue, different levels of transparency, different levels of glow, basically a huge mess. And these are just random frames, I'm sure from shot to shot in a scene Obi-Wan is different.
adywan said:well i finally finished all the wampa cave shots today (minus the wampa of course). i've managed to fix the continuity errors of Luke's legs being spread apart one minute then together the next and the lightsabre is now partially buried to match the shots when he uses the force to retrieve it. again one minute its fully on show then the next shot its half buried.
I could cry right now. :-D
CONTINUITY!!!!!!!!!
adywan said:doubleofive said:Question: Should Cloud City cast a shadow on the clouds when seen from a particular angle? Something to think about.
no it shouldn't . as you will see when the shot is moving the foreground clouds are quite a distance from the city. its hard to explain really so you'll just have to wait for the trailer to see what i mean. lol
In all the shots? Of course, you can just make it so no clouds are near the city, like it projects some kind of Cloud Avoidence Field so that people wouldn't be constantly walking on balconies with knee-high railings in a thick layer of fog. LOL
Nice shot. So you brightened everything, flipped the City, moved it up, and added some more clouds above it. You also moved the Car back and reversed it so it is coming from the City instead of flying around it.

Question: Should Cloud City cast a shadow on the clouds when seen from a particular angle? Something to think about.

Haha, nicely spotted!
At least they recomposited the City so its not the EXACT same shot. You have to give them that.
Alright, here's my weekly comparison of the weekly preview:

I think with the right CG flyby, this shot will be perfect. And I'm glad there's all-new real clouds, because once I noticed that the original matte was a flip shot of this:

I think it was that needles aren't that threatening to most people, so he wanted to up the danger factor. I am neither for nor against the electric needle. It certainly doesn't make me cringe like it does some people.
Well, it does make me cringe, but only because I'm... uncomfortable around needles. So that doesn't count.
adywan said:doubleofive said:Figured you'd say that, Ady. Oh well, someone else can use it. Davnes, you can post it to the Wishlist thread for other people to be inspired by.
So, Ady, any comment on my translations?
i was editing my post above just as you posted yours. lol
That's pretty funny. Nice to see we're on the same wavelength. ;-)
adywan said:and 005, good work on the translation. i can't remember exactly what i wrote on the rebel briefing displays but i'm pretty sure it was lines of dialogue from the movies
Thanks, I really hurt my eyes on some of those. Darn you for lowering the lights in the briefing room! What about the upside down single words? They seemed like gibberish. And do the arrows in the battle hologram say things?

Quintuple post, each with one word differences! Weird.
Not bad, but every needs to remember that it needs to be a video from the right angle. A fuzzy static picture of Vader does not come close to replacing the holo shot, no matter how bad it was originally.
Beautiful Davnes! I'm not sure the eyelines are perfect yet, but its an excellent concept. I think with smaller text in Aurebesh to keep it less of a distraction (love the "info" you put in, LOL), it would work well. I'm sure someone will want to use it, if not Ady.
Great work! Well worth the loss of sleep!
Not with me at work. ;-)
doubleofive said:I translated most of it, but deleted the file before I posted it anywhere. Maybe I only found the few times you did put your kids' names in there, but I did see them often enough that I could read them without figuring it out. I was going to post screenshots with the translations written over them, but it was getting too tedious. I'm sure I'll try again someday. Heck, I've got the ISO here, I'll probably do it today.
I had to.
Discussing the Aurebesh text on the ESBR thread inspired me to resurrect my project of translating what I could from ANHR. Here are my results, Ady can correct me if he feels like it.

I used the DVD-5, so I'm not sure if the text is clearer on some of these with the DVD-9. I'm not sure how much help that would be anyway, since the DVD resolution isn't the best for text like this anyway.
adywan said:doubleofive said:Yay! I went through ANHR once and translated all of the text to english. This time, I hope its more than your kids' names over and over again. ;-)
Are you sure you translated it correctly? i only put my kids names in there a couple of times. there was lots of other things in there too, mainly silly stuff, but i knew that someone would try and translate the text so i thought i'd have a little fun. lol

I haven't really heard that album yet, but just about every review I ever hear about complains about the sound quality, which is a shame. Maybe some talented editor will take a stab at it. ;) Think it could be done, based on what you hear? (if it's simply too loud and gets distorted/farty, maybe nothing can be done about it) I wouldn't be surprised if they release a remastered/fixed version someday.
not to get too off topic here, but that Metallica album had a different (read: much better) mastering for the video game "Guitar Hero" (I think it was that game). Anyway, there were fan-rips of this floating around. And Metallica (read: Lars) claimed that it was bullshit, and they wouldn't release another version of the album
To veer back on topic... I am really looking forward to listening to this set. Sounds amazing.
Here's the comparison:

It's sad really, what has happened to music...
Siliconmaster482 said:Hahaha! I never knew that! It will indeed be a lot of fun to see what Ady sticks in there now. Anyone else have the Star Wars SE Monopoly manual, with the Aurek-Besh on the back?
Totally. What's sad is that I can almost read it without the guide...

That was the first thing I ever suggested on this thread. Ady says that he will be stabilizing the text, but I'm sure he'll also give us an actual translation. Which means that someone has to come up with lines for R2-D2.
i've already redone the readout for R2's lines using the basic font. There is now a real conversation going on but i'll leave that up to someone else to translate cuz i'm keeping that secret. its more fun that way. lol

My Share Your Star Wars Story thread is kind of like this. My story is on there, with some pictures.
