It’s darkly amusing to me that I’m already reading stuff about this release, like re-composited effects shots and alternate dialogue takes, that means it won’t pass some peoples’ purity test.
Yeah. The Indiana Jones 4K was recomposited according to Damn Fool Idealistic Crusader.
I started a VisComp, Indy was not recomposited, the bluescreen elements have been rotoscoped from the final composite and stretched and warped to cover up the matte lines. It’s hilarious in A/B comparisons.
That’s not what we’re seeing here.
I stand corrected. So What they cgi rotocoped them? It’s like having to play Columbo.
I want to say that might have been a Paramount decision and not George or Steven.
They also made a couple fixes to the theatrical version of Star Trek: The Motion Picture, which was completely needless when there was an entirely separate version being prepared in 4k for that exact reason.
It’s surely the same Paramount team that felt like they needed to “fix” the theatrical TMP. Using the cleanup tools they had on hand to make VFX decisions to fix “mistakes”, and not doing very well at it.
