Your Jedi name
Time
newma maswor

but that sucks ass!!

the way we did it was virtually identical but you take the first 3 letters of your first name then 2 letters of your surname & then 3 letters from your mums maiden name & 3 letters from the place you were born & putting them together i get:

Marne Maswor

which totally rocks!!!!

but then i guess theres probably hundreds of variations of this game

Girl Problem
Time
awww hell i crashed the party too late & missed the pics....

but please dont repost them ...dont wanna get you in to trouble...

theres some good advice here.......i think we all could have done with advice like that during our school life (hell im 30 & still read with interest )

im not even going to repeat some of the excellent tidbits that have been offered except to say...

what have you got to lose? you dont know her now so if shes not interested you might gain a friend....or a girlfriend...

definitely ask her out for coffee its an excellent icebreaker...but don't rush things.....you might want a couple of pseudo-dates first of all..dont expect to get kissing on the first or second date - use this time to suss her out....you might find her personality unattractive, but i cant stress enough DONT RUSH THINGS......girls like to be romanced...the worst thing you can do is come across like a desperate bunny-boiler (im talking from experience here )

good luck & let us know how things go

So, are all the Stormtroopers from IV-VI clones?..
Time
it's pretty much known now that C3PO has his mind wiped in the next film & R2 doesn't!

the difference in plating might explain Owen's lack of recognition come Ep4....the easiest & most plausible explanation is it's just a right major cock-up on GL behalf...he thought it would "cool" & "zany" to have Anakin make 3PO & have him stay with his mother....probably innocently forgetting Ep4's contradictions (or not really giving a shit)

but then it might not be...its IMO...

as for the Stormtroopers......the EU will always contradict the OT/PT & to be honest I think it's a given that the EU is to be disregarded in any way shape or form when it comes to the movies...

I don't think the Stormies were originally meant to be clones I think thats just a neat cunning idea GL came up with in the time that passed between the OT & making the PT....& now he's trying to pass it off as gospel..

i distinctly remember arguing the hell out of this with Jimbo over a year or so ago....hahahaha

anyways...if all the Stormies are clones why are all the officers different? & if they're different becuase they are conscripts isn't it fair to suggest that there might be conscripts amongst the Stormies ranks?

btw.....we really do have too much time on our hands if we are discussing this

The Man Who Would Be Superman
Time
the choice of colour is more in line with the original comic book version of the suit - colour limited by printing techniques...

also if you search for superman + george reeves pictures (he was the 1950's Superman) you will notice more of a similarity between that costume & this new version..

i personally like the new suit - it's modern yet retro...

perhaps this is also only a temporary costume in the film & may be replaced at some point by the 70's style bright red, blue & yellow suit..

just a few ideas

Revenge of the Sith Soundtrack

ok..........i know its only 24 hours later...but I've listened to this beast repeatedly....

problem number1:

i should never have listened to it quietly! It is incredibly powerful when blasted at an ear-bursting volume!

problem 2:

i should listen more carefully- there's definitely some Vader theme tucked in there.....

the score is picking up in my estimations.....still doesn't feel very star wars though

as far as i could understand...the reference to Marv's parole officer being a lesbian is not so much a chance to use derogatory words but more to reflect the way that Marv perceives and understands the world....

he is not an attractive man by any means, women do not find him attractive or even want to sleep with him, he justifies this by labelling them "condemning" them as lesbians to counter the challenges to his male ego....

well thats how i saw it

ah!! the reason for my mysterious absense & now return....

well.....

i'm actually in the last term of an art degree at university here in sunny Wales which has meant the earlier part of the year was spent stressing over a 15,000 word dissertation!

with that out of the way i can now return to having some kind of normal life whilst preparing my exhibition for its opening in June

Darth Chaltab....that's quite odd & yet cool that they didn't change you....maybe they don't care about anakin as much os poor poor Jar-jar the drippy git

Revenge of the Sith Soundtrack
Time
i listened to the soundtrack last night & my first reaction was...

"well it's not very star wars is it?"

I found the whole score quite difficult to get into, didn't really feel the passion of the "battle of the heroes" piece & was surprised by the lack of Vader's theme & the Emperor's theme...

another gripe....why is the last piece 90% music from Star Wars 4? the throne room (end titles of ep4) seems to appear almost twice..

if i didn't know any better i would have said that this "leaked" soundtrack was out-takes & copy/pastes to throw us all off the scent!

but then that's what i said when the ep2 soundtrack leaked

oh well let's hope that several relistens & after seeing the film a sense of context can change my opinion of this soundtrack....

Do you think that Lucas' directing style has changed since 1977?

There is also a much clearer idea of what is going on when the engineers mindlock THX while he's at work, i.e. that a nuclear cell THX is trying to install in a robot almost hits the floor and blows everything to hell. This isn't quite as clear in the original version. Some pretty cool little tweaks in this, too, like the nuclear cell melting the table as it rolls toward the edge.

yes!yes!yes!!!!!

Comic book movies - who says yes and who says no?
Time
is this section only about SUPERHERO comic book adaptations?

I only ask because as far as i could tell from reading as many of the posts as i could that noone mentioned the amazing adaptations that Hollywood has managed to produce in the last few years:

The Road To Perdition
American Splendour
Ghost World

ok there's only 3...but....these 3 alone are worth a billion Daredevils.....infinite Elektra's........IMO

IMO the problem with Superhero adaptations will continue to be lacklustre whilst studio's & their unimaginative Exec's believe that they can rape a dollar out of you...that's why you always get a big name attached to these pieces of shit...nothing at all to do with "so & so has read such and such since he was 5" no he got paid x millions to do it....nuff said & why Akiva Goldsman still manages to exert some creative control (either as Exec-Producer or script writer) on some of these movies...after basically rewriting the script for Batman Forever & calling B&R & then going on to write & direct Lost in Space you would have thought this guys days would be numbered???? Well i would have.....but then who am i???

A comic fan with an infinite number of more imaginative idea's than most of those studio bozo's...why?because I'm not faced with need for green....dollar bills....

Do you think that Lucas' directing style has changed since 1977?
Time
Lucas had attempted to "recreate" the feeling of the original trilogy by casting "largely unknown" actors alongside veterans......atleast that was how it was perceived in the US...

as a young Scottish actor, McGregor's name was made with the indie hit "Shallow Grave", he was then catapulted to stardom (in the UK) when "Trainspotting" was released.

Portman was noticed when the movie "Leon" was released (I think it's called the Professional in the US) & critics raved about her performance & the greatness that was before her........if memory serves me correctly all of these movies were released around 1995 (give or take a couple of years). So.....from a certain point of view....these 2 actors were unknown...& it would appear from other comments only in the US. Come on guys catch up

anyhoo.....GL directing getting better or worse??????

I ask all of you to go and watch THX-1138 (either again or for the first time), GL's debut is rich, thought-provoking & beautifully shot....

i recently rewatched it after a period of about 15 years & the first thought that sprung to mind was "jeepers....how the heck did he go from this amazing film to SW1????"

ROTS - Novels etc!!
Time
hotrod mate.....

save your money......

the novel was shit........& as someone else said it's all Stover's fault......the novel is extremely poorly written, I found myself skimming through entire chapters of absolute garbage that had nothing to do with what we know happens in the film trying to find the "juicy" bits.....

the biggest problem i had with the novel was the pacing......the battle of Coruscant (from beginning to the landing of the shattered cruiser) occupies I'd say atleast 40% of the 400 page novel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

after that the novel speeds through every plot point, some not being addressed at all (Kashyyyk, Dagobah, Alderaan), the duel was bitterly disappointing to read, leaving the heavily inconsistent plot threads (& the rebuilding of Vader) to be tied up in about 5 pages.....

i feel like a cheap whore for reading it & wish I'd never laid eyes on the damn thing! Save that £15 & get drunk instead....

as for the making of book, well that's actually quite a good read...except there's no last chapter!!!!!! you can log onto www.starwars.com to read this though (& it's free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

the pictures are excellent, & of course incredibly spoiler-laden!

that was a tenner well spent!!

& another thing...it has today been announced that we can have midnight madness for ep3 here in the UK...

WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Forum Name Origins

well my name has 2 meanings (or explanations)

Firstly, after seeing TPM thats all I wanted him to do

Secondly, it's a ribbing on an old Simpsons joke. I used to get alot of grief from Kids in Star Wars chat rooms who used to report me for wanting to kill someone ( JarJar) I would have to explain how ridiculous it is to chastise me for wanting a FICTIONAL character dead!! I would then pull out the final ace "It's actually German for the jar jar, the"

that would usually do thet trick & then leave me to fully rip the shit out of the pesky little varmint that had reported me in the first place!

On another note i have used this nickname since Ep1 came out in 1999 & have been a member of the Official Star Wars website since then & about 6 months ago noticed that my nickname upon log in HAS BEEN CHANGED WITHOUT MY CONSENT OR PRIOR KNOWLEDGE! Bastards!

Im now just plain old THE JARJAR

It's enough to want to comit suicide

The infamous chest grope
Time
in the 97 SE the incident of Luke bouncing back into frame on Bespin has been edited from the original version, the scene cuts just as hes about to bob back down, so it now looks like it was intentional fall & straightening upon landing, if you watch the OT then you can clearly see Mark Hamill bouncing into frame & looking at the camera as if to ask "was that ok George?" he then bounces out of frame...very funny! had me amused for years & years

It's such a shame that there are so many people out there without a shred of decency, absolutely no respect for their fellow man, a sign of sure fire decline in the state of our society

Dude Im well sorry to hear all of that.......

Editing the '2oo4 Editions' - which changes would you revert?
Time
Some of the conversation came about from HF's inability to hear the person off stage giving him his cues. It's been commented/documented that HF got annoyed & bored at having to redo the scene a few times & still not be able to hear the cues so ended the shoot with the line "It was a boring conversation anyway" which just about summed up his feelings towards the whole making of Star Wars.....
