General DVD Talk
Time
I've held off from buying the Mohicns dvd here in UK, dont know about your release but ours was totally Vanilla

Interestingly enough, this movie has a 15 rating in the UK on VHS & DVD, yet on its release it was a PG & was about a minute longer. The extra minute contained MORE scalpings, people having holes blown through them with muskets, the scene where Monroe has his heart cut out was far more graphic & bloody & the end fight with Magua was longer & bloodier!

I think as well when Uncas has his throat slit you actually see it rather than just the blood squirt.

I was quite shocked on seeing LOTM at the cinema way back in 92, I think a lot of people were shocked at how gruesome & bloody it was for what was rated as a childrens film, in fact many patrons left the cinema in disgust, shame really it is an amazing film & I would love to have a version of that on DVD...

Editing the '2oo4 Editions' - which changes would you revert?

Ray Harryhausen had been doing exactly that since the 50's (possibly earlier).

As for "fake fatman Jabba" being in costume, I think that was at Harrison Fords request, he liked to voice his annoyance & frustrations on set at the script & not having anything to act too so perhaps this scene would have been slated to be shot late on into the shoot & by this point GL would be doing anything for an "easier" life.

Interestingly HF took it upon himself to rewrite/adlib his lines in SW & ESB if he didn't like them!

im guessing Casino, Die Hard or Goodfellas

I think its actually 48 hours with Eddie Murphy & Nick Nolte, every other word seems to be fuck or mother fucker

Midnight Run with Robert De Niro is another high scorer..

Rubbish. If that was the case then the interaction between the two would be absolutly minimal, and putting the creature behind han would be impossible. Not to mention that in 1977 you did not crop your film for presentation, so there would be no long shots with shaddows. Study the stop-motion animation used in Robocop 2 and Terminator 1.

The intention from the start was to replace HUMAN JABBA with a CREATURE JABBA (stop motion animation - like Ray Harryhausen style), in 1976 at the time of filming they hadnt fully decided what Jabba would actually look like, character designs were created, but I guess GL wasn't happy with what was created & the scene was eventually edited from the movie. It wasn't until production of Return Of The Jedi had started that the finalised look of Jabba was achieved.

For an indication of the direction the original Jabba MIGHT have been going check out Marvel Comics original movie adaptation of Star Wars, you'll find the Jabba scene incorporated into the story & can have a good laugh at what he might have looked like!

Why????? well it was good fun, offered a good explanation (IMO) as to how Skynet survived T2 & was still able to execute Judgement Day & had one hell of an ending - A very brave move that I felt worked EXTREMELY well!

Although Kristiannna Loken looked good she certainly wasn't enough of a reason to LOVE this movie (just before Jimbo pops in & says its the ONLY or MAIN reason this movie rocked....gasp a naked woman! Oh my! Never seen one of those before )

Bullshit I liked Terminator 3 because it was a good movie. It had a good story, good acting, great effects. Tits or no tits its a good movie. The tits are just a little added benefit. Im not going to pretend I didn't love em but as Eurotrip proves its not enough to prevent a bad script from sucking.

Hey Jimbo.......

here's $10..............

go buy yourself a sense of humour & do us all a favour

im guessing your PG-13 is similar to our 12A certificate in the UK?

It means that under 12 you cannot be admitted without an adult......

As much as the idea of a slightly relaxed certificate appeals to me, it also PISSES me off no end!

All it means now is I sit through movies drowned out by screaming kids!

Parents now take their 1-4 year olds to see films like The Return Of The King................kid gets bored & starts screaming or running about!

DOES MY HEAD IN!

I actually preferred it when it was a solid 12 rating......

Ahhhh

Its the Robocop syndrome all over again..

1st 2 movies were 18 rated here in uk (i think thats the equivalent to your NC-17)#

3rd movie was a 12 (equivalent to your R???? lol)

then tv shows were PG & then A CARTOON SERIES????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

WTF IS THAT ABOUT????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

then again Freddy versus Jason was like a PG or something daft here!

& then they try & blame games/movies for fucking with kids minds & making them torture each other........

Pffff.....parents..thats where we're afraid to point the finger.....if those lazy bastards had some sense & actually restricted what a kid watched...........

I'm gonna stop now before I really go off on one!

When i went to see it at the Flix there wasn't a young kid there........average age i'd say was about 22........gotta love them Students

Definitely!! It annoys me no end! I seem to spend most of my time at work telling people what genre I consider a particular movie to be rather than whether I enjoyed it/thought it was a good movie, it seems that in our time when everything musically has to be pigeon holed by the music press our film critics just dont seem to have a clue how to class certian movies.

I think in the case of Shyamalan he will always be stereotyped as a horror director, even though IMO none of his films have been horror movies! Tense, dark thrillers; yes, horror; no!

lmao!!!

typical isn't it?

THE BEST FILM of the OT & good ole GL dont like it!

Are you surprised?

I've always wondered how pissed off he must be that the firm fan favourite is one that he had the least involvement behind the camera in!

Im gonna have to stop reading comments like that about GL, its making me lose what little respect I had left, & worse still its making my 27 year love of Star Wars leave a bad taste in my mouth

As for the post that started this topic.......

I cant believe that GL would have the balls to come out & make a statement like that! talk about the POT calling the KETTLE black!

What an absolute HYPOCRITE!

God bless Boobies, they truely are worthy of worship!

As for Cabin Fever, been wanting to see it. So you say that I should watch the extras before watching the movie?

I personally found a new level of enjoyment watching it after watching the extra's (well pretty much hearing Eli Roth's take on things), it was marketed here in the UK as a Horror Flick & although it does have some hjumpy bits it works far better as a black comedy/parody of 80's horror flicks...

I suppose being forewarned that it's a comedy & not a horror MIGHT be enough for ya Dunno mate, the choice is yours.......(as they used to say on Saturday night tv)

See that troubles me too, both of them MUST have their memories erased for this to work, otherwise:

C3PO: "Hey short stuff, who let such a handsome stubby chap such as yourself in here?"

r2: "beep-da beep beep beeeeeeeeeeeeeep"

C3PO: "What do you mean we've been lovers for over 20 years? I've never seen you in this oil bath before EVER!"

r2: "beep-da-beep-dee-booop"

C3PO: "don't get technical with me"

r2: "beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep"

C3PO: "what are you blabbering about? Jedi Knights, heroic Senators & my father is Darth Vader? Oh behave!"

r2: "beeeep-beeeeeping beeeeeeeeeeeeeeep"

C3PO: *raised hand* "Oh fuck off Artoo"

Apologies for that baaaaaaaaaaaaaad humour, I just cant imagine that R2 wouldnt fill 3PO in on EXACTLY what has gone down between Ep's 1-3 & Ep4...it just doesn't make sense........unless 3PO has spurned R2's affections & R2 is now in a major piss with him??

After watching BB5 I just can't picture C3PO without thinking of Marco!!!! They are one & the same I'm telling you!

i've got one word that will sum up GL & all thse changes to the OT..........................

"BOREDOM"

The guy has more money than he can possibly know what to do with, his obsession with new technology & the vst sums of cash he has available to invest in said technology just allows the creator to become bored and tinker as & when he sees fit!

UM HELLO!!!!! ITS A HORROR MOVIE!!

so since then its been completely re written & re shot.......i expect it will be as much a bag of arse as Exorcist 3 was/is!

hmm maybe GL thinks that EVERYTHING needs an explanation.....unfortunately if you read most of the Star Wars message boards out there, they are full of nonsensical morons that need everything pointed out & made EXTREMELY obvious.......

Damn the MTV generation, damn them all to hell!
