Take the twooffour Pledge (Pledge is Suspended - See Post #121) (At one time thread was about DOGS WEARING HATS)

It's a BA in psychology I'm afraid, and it's from the University of Arizona, a state university.  On top of that, I have worked in the field for a few years now.  I'm not the world's greatest pro on all things psychology, and a Bachelor's is not terribly impressive, but it's not like I'm an ignorant nincompoop on the topic.  I'm not trying to impress; merely showing that I do know what I'm talking about on some level.  But yes, since we agree, I'm happy to drop it too :)

Yes, but how do you know that moff tiaan jerjerrod was on it when it blew up?? Remember that the guys were evacuating on it at the ending; nothing ever confirmed whether or not grand moff tiaan jerjjerod escaped!!!!

Check the deleted scenes on the blu-ray. They were about to blow up the moon of Endor when the Death Star was destroyed, so no, he didn't escape

Wookieepedia.

Wookipedia banned me. They're mean and stupid.....

Besides, wookipedia is not george lucas's offical canon website, it's is a star wars website made by fanboys and fangirls......

I read that he died during/in the explosion, it just wasn't confirmed by an official source yet. What about the evacuation, when luke skywalker was dragging his father's body down to the shuttle????

Wookieepedia, while it has the same drawbacks of any wiki site, is a collection of most of the sources of Star Wars cannon available (books, movies, games, et cetera).

Moff Jerjerrod's death as he waited to pull the trigger to destroy the forest moon of Endor is documented in the novelization of Return of the Jedi. You can read it yourself if you don't believe me!

Did the novelization explicity state "he died", or "he did not escape"??? No. Please send me a quote. Also, remember the guys that were evacuating when luke dragged anakin's body down to his shuttle?? Luke just stayed there for a moments and talked to his father, the other imperial guys didn't wait, they got themselves off of the second death star and escaped pretty fast. If luke could barely escape, then those guys could most certainly escape too, they were quicker and they got ahead of him when escaping, they didn't stop and pause to talk to a dying man.........

By that logic, jerjerrod could have escaped too, and he probably did. What, did two or three guys stay on there or something like that???

Jerjerrod was obsessed with carrying out Palpatine's final order (destroy the forest moon) and his hatred of the Rebels. So much that he died waiting for the Death Star to rotate around to face the moon while holding the firing switch.

Here are the quotes:

The Emperor hissed. 'Your fleet is lost - and your friends on the Endor Moon will not survive...' He pushed a comlink button on the arm of his throne and spoke into it with relish. 'Commander Jerjerrod, should the Rebels manage to blow up the shield generator, you will turn this battle station onto the Endor Moon and destroy it.'

'Yes, Your Highness,' came the voice over the receiver, 'but we have several battalions stationed on-'

'You will destroy it!' the Emperor's whisper was more final than any scream.

'Yes, Your Highness.'

Commander Jerjerrod sat, brooding, in the control room of the Death Star, watching all about him crumble. Half of his crew were dead, wounded, or run off-where they hoped to find sanctuary was unclear, if not insane. The rest wandered ineffectually, or railed at the enemy ships, or fired all their guns at all sectors, or shouted orders, or focused desperately on a single task, as if that would save them. Or, like Jerjerrod, simply brooded.

He couldn't fathom what he'd done wrong. He'd been patient, he'd been loyal, he'd been clever, he'd been hard. He was the commander of the greatest battle station ever built. Or, at least, almost built. He hated this Rebel Alliance, now, with a child's hate, untempered. He'd loved it once - it had been the small boy he could bully, the enraged baby animal he could torture. But the boy had grown up now; it knew how to fight back effectively. It had broken its bonds.

Jerjerrod hated it now.

Yet there seemed to be little he could do at this point. Except, of course, destroy Endor - he could do that. It was a small act, a token really - to incinerate something green and living, gratuitously, meanly, toward no end but that of wanton destruction. A small act, but deliciously satisfying.

An aide ran up to him. 'The Rebel fleet is closing, sir.'

'Concentrate all fire in that sector,' he answered distractedly. A console on the far wall burst into flame.

'The fighters in the superstructure are eluding our defense system, Commander. Shouldn't we-'Flood sectors 304 and 138. That should slow them up.' He arched his eyebrows at the aide.

This made little sense to the aide, who had cause to wonder at the commander's grasp of the situation. 'But sir ...'

'What is the rotation factor to firing range on the Endor Moon?'

The aide checked the compuscreen. 'Point oh two to moon target, sir. Commander, the fleet-'Accelerate rotation until moon is in range, and then fire on my mark.'

'Yes, sir.' The aide pulled a bank of switches. 'Rotation accelerating, sir. Point oh one to moon target, sir. Sixty seconds to firing range. Sir, good-bye, sir.' The aide saluted, put the firing switch in Jerjerrod's hand as another explosion shook the control room, and ran out the door.

Jerjerrod smiled calmly at the view-screen. Endor was starting to come out of the Death Star's eclipse. He fondled the detonation switch in his hand. Point oh oh five to moon target. Screams erupted in the next room.

Thirty seconds to firing.

And then it blew up. If you think after reading that that he either cared/wanted to escape or if he could somehow get off the station in the scant few seconds before the reactor blew (by the time the thirty-second count had begun, Lando and Wedge were already firing at the reactor), then I don't know what else to say.

Umm, is the EU canon?? By canon, I mean, not just canon, but part of the same storyline as the movies, and do they basically add to the movies storyline?? Besides, why did screams erupt in the next room?? And then it blew up?? You just stopped quoting the book after that, and added your own stuff to that....

"I don't read that stuff. I haven't read any of the novels. I don't know anything about that world. That's a different world than my world. But I do try to keep it consistent. The way I do it now is they have a Star Wars Encyclopedia. So if I come up with a name or something else, I look it up and see if it has already been used. When I said [other people] could make their own Star Wars stories, we decided that, like Star Trek, we would have two universes: My universe and then this other one. They try to make their universe as consistent with mine as possible, but obviously they get enthusiastic and want to go off in other directions."

Don't use the books/the EU expanded universe to explain what happened in the movies. Both are canon, but are different storylines and timelines and universes, as stated in the above quote.........

Umm, all canon debates aside, i thought that most of the imperials evacuated it. So, a few of them stayed on it, kinda like the handful of fools that stay in their town after the hurricance, while everybody else evacuates???

FATHER SKYWALKER!!!  Geez, man, just because you're passionate, it doesn't make it right!  I find it ironic that you downplay the validity of an EU source, but instead rely heavily on "what makes sense to me" and your own expanded universe of subsequent events.  "Don't rely on any EU sources.  But do you think Jerjerrod survived the movie (which means, would he exist in an EU story)?"  Jerjerrod died.  The quote is from the novelization of ROTJ, a pretty high level of canon.  The events are reflected in the deleted scenes.  Jerjerrod followed his master's orders, tried to destroy Endor, and ultimately the captain went down with his ship.  It's pretty apparent.

But you know what?  It's a movie.  There's no need to argue about so much speculative and hypothetical stuff when we're dealing with a fictional universe.

Complete Comparison of Special Edition Visual Changes

I'm a slacker. If anyone can compile all that I'm missing on my list, that'd be fantastic.

I know I'd appreciate this as well.  I know it's a lot of work, so I don't mean to be pushy.  However, I've got a little project going where I hope to include a list of all the changes.  I would like to download this album in its most complete form ultimately and use that on my DVD.  I appreciate all the work 005 and everyone else has put into this.  I truly think it's amazing!

Deleted, altered, and alternate material project (Released)
Time

It's all just rather simple.  It's just a collection, not actually incorporated into the movie.  The Blu Rays of course are the best source of actual footage, but there is other material I'll be using as well, such as the alternate Han/Leia at Cloud City scene, Declan Mulholland as Jabba scene, the B&W Luke and Treadwell scene (which is a different take than the color version included in the BDs), etc.

Then I realized that there were hundreds of pictures of scenes not even included in the BDs.  For instance, when Luke and Vader arrive at the Death Star to face the Emperor:

Or when Luke's mask is removed just before Leia comes to check on his recovery:

I tried to arrange three montages of all the interesting pics I could find together in chronological order with music from the respective films in the background and descriptions every now and then.  I could actually call it quits now if I wanted to, as I've got quite a bit and it's already arranged and all, but part of me just doesn't want to finalize it yet because I'm hoping for even more.

In summary, it's just a peek at everything that was missing, first the scenes, then the montages.  I'm interested in scenes we already have as well, but from alternate angles or different takes.  Or even just brief seconds cut from the films.

Also, using the DVDActive source as a guide, I'm putting stills and clips together of the most notable changes between editions.  Yes, this means I will not use most of the very small changes discovered on this site, amazing as they are (though I will probably include 005's albums in the DVD-ROM folder).  Just the most obvious will be included.  I started this project with my sister in mind and I've been providing her with various editions of the OT and its SEs on DVD, so most of the changes are just noted with pics.  But for the PT, where it's not really worth getting a whole new film for just the tiny changes, I've planned on actually showing the clips with their little changes.  I don't think I'm going to bother hunting down the ROTS bootleg or rip the BD just for its simple wipe, though.  Like I said, only the most notable and obvious changes.

Thanks for all those leads, Silverwook!  I'll look through those sites for anything I don't have (or for better quality versions).

Pittrek, there's a very good chance you've got at least something I don't have, and your pictures might be better quality than what I've already got.  If you're willing, I'd be very appreciative of you sending me whatever you've got.  Thanks for the support, guys :)

Deleted, altered, and alternate material project (Released)
Time

I feel like a dwarf among giants just even starting a thread detailing my little project in this corner of the forum.  I’m always very upfront about my general lack of editing skills.  I will say, however, that I am creating a DVD (likely two, really) containing all deleted material for both the OT and PT, emphasis on OT.  I’ve gathered all the scenes available from BD and DVD sources, but as you all know, there is still plenty missing from there.  I’ve also been putting together montages of all three individual OT episodes, plus a fourth for the PT as a whole, containing deleted shots, alternate takes and angles, etc.  Finally, I’m trying to collect pictures and clips of the most notable changes to the films.

I’m not expecting this to be any earth-shattering release–just a nice comprehensive collection of material with some explanations on a rather basic DVD or two.  My main reason for even starting this thread is for leads on pictures.  I’m trying to get as complete a collection as possible.  If you come across a picture or site that has even just a slightly different angle shot, please feel free to let me know here so I can add it to my already vast collection.  Even if I already have the picture, I’ll be grateful for your help.  Ultimately I hope to put it up on MySpleen.  Any help here would be hot!

If you need to B*tch about something... this is the place

I can't say it any better than Tyrphanax.  But for what it's worth, I agree.  Addictions don't make for healthy relationships, and if he's not interested in changing, then you pay the price at least as heavily as he does.  I have a friend at work, a woman who was in a relationship with another woman (ironic, no?) who was also my friend.  But the latter had an alcohol problem as well that seriously hurt the sober one.  The relationship ended painfully, but my coworker is much happier now.  I'm not necessarily saying you should leave, but I'm at least saying that it's not healthy for you if no change is made.  You shouldn't have to atone for his transgressions.

Help: looking for... Prequel Preservations...
Time

I did get the lousy VCD bootleg of Episode I. It sucks. Oh well. I'm fine with what I do have. However, I am still very interested in obtaining Episode II. I've ventured into new territory for me by trying out a Newsgroup. Unfortunately, it appears that I'm unable to download either Episode II bootleg, I guess because they're so old...or maybe because I'm such a greenie at this sort of thing. Might someone let me know of an alternative or somehow enlighten my poor brain?

FYI, I'm working on a personal project of deleted and changed material. I'm making it with my Star Wars nerd siblings in mind (not as nerdy as I, but appreciative of my nerdiness). But I'm hoping to ultimately share it on the 'Spleen.

Since when did ROTJ become less highly regarded than even Episodes II or III?
Time

Forgive me for tooting my own horn, and I can't really take credit for it either, but the very rough ROTJ edit found in my links includes slightly tougher Ewoks, including implications that they had taken out stormtroopers.  Now the footage I used comes from SSWR's ideas (and my understanding is that he has vanished), but I think it is quite effective and could be pulled off in an edit fairly easily.
