So many quotes to reply to, but I'll pick this one, as it exactly captures my feeling. I talk about for no reason except that it's fun. I truly find it fun! Twooffour angered me at the time, but I think now that it's all just hilarious in retrospect. So it's fun to just play around with it.

Don't forget my degree in psychology. I'm well aware of the criteria. There is a massive difference between paranoid personality disorder (an Axis II disorder, as evidenced by the "personality disorder" bit) vs., say, Schizophrenia, Paranoid Type. One is a mental illness. One is not. I'm not trying to come off as snooty, but merely stating that I'm not entirely ignorant on the topic. But in reality, we have so little to go on, how could I genuinely make such a judgment? He could be very different in reality compared to his Internet activities. Again, it's all just silly fun to me. I've gotten much better at skipping stuff that offends me (in part thanks to you Walkingdork--not that you offend me all the time, but I learned that I don't have to take offense all the time in part from our past arguments, and see how well we get along now :)

Nobody stress out about my fascination with him. Perhaps I have Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (a distint disorder from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). ;)

For my own whine session, I caught the most awful computer virus.  I've handled viruses before (not that I'm all that savvy, but I've found the right tools to take care of it).  This one was really a doozie, though.  It started as just a supposed FBI warning that turned on my camera and stated I had done some illegal activities and needed to pay a fine.  I had to do a hard shut down and start in safe mode.  The program disabled any kind of security software I had and wouldn't allow me to use it or even update it.  After various tricks, it seemed like I'd gotten it all, but still my security programs were not usable, though online scanners were finding nothing.  Finally I found a site that recommended a rootkit removal tool from Kaspersky, and that seemed to do the trick.  Everything was freed up and several new viruses were discovered.  Oh my gosh, this has been a nightmare to clean up!  And I wasn't even going to sites that I would consider dangerous or harboring viruses!  I think the nightmare's over though, thank heavens!

People to me are fascinating, both as individuals and groups. As most who care a lick about me know, I'm a psychology major, and I've got a thing for sociology as well, so it may come as no surprise. I believe that humans are inherently good but extremely flawed. I really like to get to know them. I love learning about cultures and religions. I love learning about individuals and what makes them tick. People are amazing, and the more we understood each other, the better we'd get along I'm sure.

You're a psychology major?

I take a certain amusement in acting misanthropic. Though it's mostly (entirely) a defense mechanism. Also, I can get overwhelmed by too much socializing. Sadly, I think I've become increasingly wary of the sense of joy that can be inspired by humanity. I don't trust it as I once did :/

I'm sure a lot of it has to do with contentment in one's own life. Ideally, I want to be more engaged with people. At least in the abstract I like people.

Yes, I'm a psych major.  I thought every OT.com member that stalks me (pretty much everyone) would have picked that up by now.  In all seriousness, I'm sorry you don't derive enjoyment from people.  People can really be rotten, horrible little creatures.  But they really can be wonderful, well-intentioned, beautiful creatures as well.  In spite of humanity's shortcomings, on the whole most people are good (or try to be--aside from those who take advantage of impressionable young ladies, then brush them off the next day ;)

^^Shut up, you whiner!

J/K ;)

Yeah, it's getting plenty annoying.  Too bad he doesn't play around Off Topic like twooffour did.  It was much easier to have fun with him.  Heck, I'll take a bit of credit in getting him banned, though perhaps that is arrogance on my part.  I started the "Survivor" thread just so he could see how popular he was.  And heck, beyond the occasional random post, my real activity on this site started by arguing about his grammar and his arrogance.  If nothing else, it allowed him to Ah, those were the days!  I almost want to push a few buttons on Holy Week boy, but I don't dislike him so strongly and also am more conscientious of mod action.

EDIT: ^I'm pretty sure they're not.  He's consistently maintained a very different style.  I don't think 2/4 had that much self-control, considering his lengthy posts and his willingness to ever admit that he might be wrong or that a different viewpoint might be valid.  In general, Oester has been more willing to admit a difference of opinion, while still being snappish and passive-aggressive.  I dunno, just seems different.

This is all well and good, but the Internet is too expensive for me to buy right now. Do you know where can I download it for free?

There's a freeware version over at JoeLieberman.net.  The inventor and his partner parted ways and took their respective versions.  Lieberman's version didn't quite catch on as well, but he continues to develop it and provide support.  I think he refers to it as the GlobalLattice...not quite as catchy, I admit.

So yes, this is what Al Gore invented, Davnes007, though his motives were rather obscure.  In theory it was to save the planet, but some think it was actually a means of connecting people into a hive mind and thus conquer the planet.  The plan went awry when the Hale-Bopp aliens interfered in Earth-side affairs and liberated mankind, freeing them from the mind-controlling Internet and giving them a duplicate that actually allowed people to consciously give up their autonomy to sites like Facebook.  But you won't find this version of events in Wikipedia.

HUAC - House of Unapproved Activities Committee a.k.a. The OT.com BLACKLIST Thread!

I'm accusing Harmy of conspiracy to overthrow Jay as Emperor.  That's right, thanks to Harmy's popular Despecialized releases and his subsequent cult following, he has made subtle overtures at seizing the reigns of OT.com!  Unless swift action is taken quickly, we may find ourselves at the mercy of a Czech perfectionist!  Is that what you all want!?

Jay, I urge you to take serious steps to curb Harmy's power.  Excommunicate his supporters.  Purge all mods who seem to be shifting their loyalties to him!  Liquidate Moth3r and Anchorhead, for surely they are among the most blatant supporters!  Take action now, while there's still time!!!

Just bear in mind three things, my friend:

1) CPS calls can be anonymous and you don't have to tell anyone you made the call.  I'm sure many others are aware of the incident, and neighbors, friends, and other family can all share everyone's suspicion.

2) Mandated reporters (i.e. teachers, healthcare workers, police, etc.) are required to call if they have a suspicion of 5% probability of abuse or greater--this means that even if most of their whole soul doubts the abuse, but even a slight part does, they are legally obligated to call, and CPS will sort it out from there.  The police should have called, but may or may not have.  Additional calls are documented, and even if there is not enough evidence beyond lots of calls, simply having so many calls can spur action from CPS.

3) This sort of thing affects children more than most people realize, and letting things play out might result in a worse outcome than expected.  Women in abusive relationships tend to be incredibly forgiving, and this "last straw" may merely lead to another honeymoon period and further abuse of the wife and potentially the children.

Do what you feel is right of course, but I'm just suggesting you shouldn't let your fear of reprisal interfere with what is in this woman's and the children's best interests.

Double click on your favorite Internet browser (Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Opera).

WARNING: You must have an active Internet connection for this to work!

To no one in particular (wink wink), if you feel you may have spelling issues, may I recommend Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome (I prefer the latter)?  They automatically notify you if you are spelling something funny with the same squiggly lines under it that you'd see using Word.  It can be very handy ;)

Angel was Greek, I believe, while ABC/XyZ was obviously French.  And considering I had a little extra association with Angel, I'm confident about that.  Kinda weird how that whole mess went down.

Anyway, I'm sure we're  all pretty confident by now that our favorite Paschal horse feed is not the same as twooffour.  He can be reasoned with and generally seems respectful, in spite of a couple of flared tempers.  I enjoy his posts far more than twooffour's for their actual content, and he is not nearly so arrogant.  Oh well.

Warbler, I echo what Tyrphanax said.  They both need help.  And as I work for behavioral health focused on children so young, I can tell you that these children need help, even the little girl.  People often think, "Well, the kids are so young and won't remember anything," particularly with children as young as the girl was.  But children are affected for their lives by witnessing such events.  Even if they don't consciously remember any events, it alters their perception of the world during these crucial times of cognitive development: the way we all see things stems from before you can even remember!  Honestly, I would recommend calling CPS.  The police are legally obligated to do so in a situation like this (at least in AZ, but I assume in NJ as well).  But really I'd suggest you are morally obligated to do so.  That doesn't guarantee the kids will even be taken away, but rather that they will determine if the report merits an investigation.  If so, an investigation may show removal is not warranted.  But if it is, the children will be safer while Mom gets her act even more together (such as by leaving Dad).  It may seem harsh, but these children are defenseless against an abusive father, and if their mother cannot keep them safe, someone else needs to while things get sorted out.

Hope this helps.

I just solved a mystery in our game of Clue: The Feudalism Edition:

There they were in the dark; the Duke with his dagger, the Doge with his dart, Duchess with her dirk. The Duchess dove at the Duke just when the Duke dove at the Doge. Now the Duke ducked, the Doge dodged, and the Duchess didn't. So the Duke got the Duchess, the Duchess got the Doge, and the Doge got the Duke!

Oh, and they did it in the royal outhouse!
