a man who never existed.
Um…what?

If Shaw is used, this is the only version Luke would recognize:
He would recognise him more than some mop haired kid that just appears. Just a couple of scars and no hair doesn’t make him unrecognisable at all. Information is not easily available under the oppression of a regime like the Empire. He couldn’t just look up information about his father. The Emperor would have suppressed all of that. If it was so easy for Luke to look up info on his father, then it wouldn’t have been too hard for him to discover that he became Vader.
Anakin appearing as his younger self is ridiculous. So, one of the most evil men in the galaxy can suddenly return to his youth, while the other two jedi have to remain their older selves? And the fan theories about how he returns to his form when he was last a good man is also ridiculous. Not only is he NOT a good man on the light side of the force when he looked like that, ( He had already begun on the path to the dark side, He had, after all, slaughtered a whole village of Tuskens, including the women and children, out of anger long before he looked like that), but that also completely destroys the whole redemption arc of ROTJ. Anakin turns back to the light side prior to his death. Him becoming a force ghost originally symbolised that. Before the rubbish that they had to learn it, which Anakin had no knowledge of, so couldn’t have become a force ghost. God, the prequels screwed so much up in the OT

Funny how nobody – absolutely nobody – complained about Shaw-as-Anakin not making any sense/being confusing until the Hayden change was introduced.
Because up until a year a two before he was added, nobody knew what a young Anakin looked like. It’s a retroactive plot hole, but an inevitable one, when making the Prequels.
Again I dont get what him looking like when he was younger has to do with him choosing to appear as his older self in the Force. Just because he never appeared as an unscarred old man before dying means he can’t appear so after he dies?? Why not?? Are there rules about what forms those in the afterlife, or Force rather, can take form of once they die?? Dracula can take form of a wolf yet I’m sure he wasn’t as such before he became one of the undead. And don’t give me the whole ‘thats another movie/story’ argument. Also who’s to say Anakin didn’t choose to appear as an unscarred old gent so Luke could have a better representation of the man he saw behind the mask?? If you can give proof that these rules about what one can take form of in the Force are real then fine but until then I don’t see where your implications that this change was inevitable are coming from.
Funny how nobody – absolutely nobody – complained about Shaw-as-Anakin not making any sense/being confusing until the Hayden change was introduced.
I’m pretty sure probably 99% of what was changed for the SEs weren’t complained about til the changes were introduced.
Just because I use words like “should”, doesn’t mean I’ll track down and kill everyone who doesn’t do as I say.
Only a serial killer would say something like this.
Well he does have Killer in his name so…
ANH did not have the squished titles (aside from a squished LFL text and asquished ‘A long time ago…’). Also note that the pre-1995 P&S releases of ANH had the 1980s Fox logo.

ESB and ROTJ had the squished logos.

I don’t remember any of my US sets having squished crawls they were all P&S. I had the late 80s/early 90s set with the yellow logos, and then the 95 Faces set after that.
This set?:-
Absolutely love the artwork used on that - think I must have worn those tapes out constantly playing them back then 😃
I think the above set came out in 1990, with a Letterbox Edition set released 2/3 years later - with some different artwork/colouring of text on the back covers.
Yes that set was from 1990. It was repackaged in 1992 with different back covers and was released under Fox Video as opposed to CBS/FOX. A letterbox set of the 1992 set including From SW to Jedi was also released in '92.
I think the old UK VHS of ANH had that effect although all the releases over here did not. The pre-1995 VHS releases of ESB and ROTJ had the squished in crawls though the opening shots were pan and scanned correctly.
But why would he chose to appear as a man who never existed?
Because in the afterlife, excuse me The Force, he had the choice.
‘Not keeping the original versions around. They have historical value.’
Not technically a change to the movies themselves but ok.
They’re ghosts. Ghosts can appear however the hell they want to appear.

@oojason I don’t think the fit to page option is the problem as I had used that feature prior and they came out the way I wanted them to. Also if I don’t use that options portions of the cover will cropped off.
As far as the printer settings, these are done behind the counter so as to what settings they have the printers on I have no idea of and likely never will.
I actually don’t have a printer at home to do any testing with so I guess I’ll have to try to take this somewhere else other than Staples. I might discuss this with my stepdad as he might have knowledge on this. Thanks guys! Wish me luck!
Guess I’m gonna need some help too. The past year or so I’ve been having Staples print these. Although it’s been hit or miss with how they’re printed (sometimes they’re big enough, sometimes they’re not) but when they’re printed right they look perfect (for me at least).
However last Saturday I had one Staples print out two covers and both are slightly smaller than I need them to be. I tried another Staples and got the same result. I went there today and they said the lasers to their printers won’t be able to print them to the size I want. I guess I should have asked them how they were able to get them done right before but I just left.
Anyways the way I had them printed there was on 8.5x11 Elite Gloss paper, I set portrait to landscape, and set the image to fit to page. The first two images shows the edge of the cover where I need it.

Below is from a cover printed this past weekend where the Image doesn’t come close enough to the edge (more noticeable in the second image).

As you can see it’s a pretty subtle difference especially when looking at the first one but the way I want it like with the first examples above fill up the DVD covers much better and more accurately to a real DVD insert. I also should note that I create all my DVD inserts with the same PhotoShop project so they all come out the same size each time so I know that’s not the problem. So any tips guys?? Is there a printer that will print to where I want them?? Is there another printing place I should take them to??
You do have to find the irony of having Ian’s Emperor on the ESB SE poster when just less than a decade later they would actually insert him into that film!
I actually thought the GOUT covers were pretty creative TBH but then again they’re mock ups of the posters and I am a sucker for original poster art. TBH I actually don’t think I have a favorite SW video cover design. I have mixed feelings about all of them honestly.
Last new movie: Cult of Chucky
Last rewatched movie: The Mummy (1932)
I binned my VHS (fullscreen and widescreen) OOT as they were copy-protected. I wanted to transfer them to DVD-R.
Luckily for me, the local video library had UK imports of the original trilogy in widescreen - which weren’t Macrovision protected.
Then I got the 2006 DVD’s with the laserdisc transfers.
I managed to download an earlier version of the SILVER SCREEN edition of STAR WARS from YouTube. I’m good for now - until the OOT gets an official release.
If you have a capture device it should be able to copy them depending on what program you’re using.
The opening credits for Dracula (1931) are edited.
IMDb: “The title card was revised at the last moment to include playwrights Hamilton Deane and John L. Balderston. But the old title card, with the movie’s title in a different typeface, is still visible briefly at the tail end of a lap dissolve to the second credits card.”
This explains while all releases of Dracula pre-2012 features a noticeable jump when the opening title card cross fades into the next set of credits. For the BD Universal ‘fixed’ this by recompositing the opening card so it now crossfades accurately into the next set of credits.
Here is the opening card pre-2012:

Here it is on the BD:

Notice how the letters don’t exactly match up in both?? For example look at the bat’s eyes in both shots or the wing behind the letter ‘D’ in Dracula.
Someone on CHFB had made a recreation of the original opening card that was cut at the last minute but I can’t seem to find it at the moment.
I thought the OOT was finally getting an HD release because of this thread title. Boo.
I think that’s probably what we all were thinking
Sorry to hear that, man. Not sure if it will be of any use to you but just in case…

It’s one of the few places here where everyone is treated with respect. 😉
Yes I have been there and thank you. I was just bringing it up so I wouldn’t be lynched for the duplicate quote! 😉
And thank you oojason. Much appreciated. 😃
Already posted.
Pay attention to what you’re doing!
Ahh missed that. Cut me some slack though guys. Im overcoming a death in the family
Ouch! Pay attention to what you’re doing!
Many thanks crissrudd4554, much appreciated 😃
No prob and thank you!
This is it boys!
Now I’m picturing oojason picking up impscum and throwing him down the reactor shaft.
Only for a successor to come around here later on courtesy of Disney??
2020 isn’t going to make any difference. Kathleen Kennedy has already said the OOT is never coming.
Have you a reliable source for that? (other than the video which was edited that did not give anywhere like the full story when the fan asked her a question she didn’t quite grasp / misunderstood)
Alderaan said:
But that doesn’t stop a mix of eternal optimists and Disney apologists from moving the goalpost every chance they get.Right on cue.
Anything you’d like to tell us, or explain further?
Alderaan doesn’t do that. Not truthfully at least. Kennedy never said anything about the OUT being released or never being released. She basically said she would not change the films as they are now ie no more SE changes.
