One more indicator of Lucasfilm’s active determination to screw over the fans.

According to theForce.net, the true fans will accept only the official Lucas-versions as the real films and the rest are babies. Also the Prequels are better because Lucas liked them more.

Nice to see they employed people with the knowledge and authority to make those judgements…NOT!

The Place to Go for Emotional Support
Time

To the user who just suffered a loss my condolences. This past week has been pretty bad for me as well. My dad entered rehab for addiction to pain medication, my dog has a ruptured disc in his back and although we have meds for him he’s having issues getting up, and a fellow employee passed away from throat cancer this passed weekend. On a lighter note I was able to go to my childhood friends wedding up in Ithaca, NY this passed Saturday.

True and as I said I don’t expect anything to come of it and essentially for that reason.

That’s why I’d recommend combatting the infatuation somehow. Maybe by limiting the amount of her content you watch until your feelings go away. If you let yourself dwell on it you’ll just be wasting your time and energy.

Thats basically what I’m already doing. I even cleared my YouTube history to be safe.

Parts of this may sound weird but I have to talk about this somewhere. For the past week I’ve become infatuated with a girl I discovered on YouTube. She’s part of a web series. So as you can guess I don’t know her and she doesn’t know me and also we live in different States.

To say this is a celebrity crush is an understatement. I just feel this weird spark whenever I watch her videos and no this has never really happened to me like this before. I mean look I had a crush on Daisy Ridley after seeing TFA for the first time but I wasn’t thinking about her everyday extensively for the next week. Also I’m 24 so I’m not some youngster experiencing hormones for the first time.

This girl does vlogging about movies and other stuff that I feel I relate to. Movies, depression, internet bullies. However she has an extremely positive vibe which I admit is almost like a breath of fresh air for someone like me who’s dealt with depression for quite a few years now.

It’s strange. I would give anything to meet and chat with this girl or at least find an appropriate way to get her attention. I just don’t see how that can happen. She’s accumulated a good number of followers the last few years so I have as much a chance of becoming close friends with her than the first hobo I run into on the street.

I don’t expect anyone here to give proper advice on this problem but I wanted to mention it somewhere. If people here wanna laugh and make fun of me due to this go ahead. With the way i feel right now I don’t really care. Also before anyone asks no, in spite of her not knowing or having spoken to me, I will not reveal her name or further details on on what she does out of respect to her privacy and to a lesser extent my own, at least not in this thread.

I actually just checked this out a few hours ago. Yep the Netflix version has the original ending. Strange. On another note the print of the first Jaws on Netflix is not the BD print either. It looks to be an HD master of the print from the 2000 and 2005 DVDs. It also had the first surround mix done for Jaws in 2000 ie minus the restored sound FX from the original mono.

So you said that the original cut of Jaws the Revenge is on Netflix, does it have the 3 frames of Jake’s Death that is not seen in any other cut? If you could check for me, I would be very happy.
Thanks!

Sorry for the late response but anyways digitalfreaknyc basically beat me to it. Jaws 4 is currently not on NetFlix anymore but if it surfaces again I’ll let you know. Sorry.

Not on Netflix Streaming or DVD/Blu-ray disc? You guys are confusing because not everyone cares for Streaming. Why the fuck has Netflix Streaming overshadowed OG Netflix which still offers disc rentals?

Streaming. Also why are you using a project thread to voice an argument about Netflix??

Gumby: The Movie (1995) - Original Theatrical Version Reconstruction (Released)
Time

Well I did message NCircle and got this response. Seems like a good sign!

'The Gumby Movie has all the scenes intact. Yes there was a little tightening from them driving from the farm to the jam session. Very slight, and done for pacing. Instead of showing them drive up to the farm, it cut right to the jam. There is a big scene in there that was not in the original VHS, so the fans are getting the best ever. All the big scenes that were deleted before are back in this version. Plus this is the first time it’s ever been on Blu-Ray in full High Definition.

I hope that answers your question. We are very excited for the Blu-ray/DVD combo in special packaging to hit retailers soon!’

Further confirmation comes from a listing on Amazon Instant (with NCircle listed at the Studio) with a runtime of 88:36 (it still missing the Warner Vision logo though).

The version I’m currently watching on Amazon Prime has the same run time yet I so far noticed one scene is still missing! The scene where everyone first arrives at the barn and Gumby’s band sets up before their first jam. It cuts from the end of the scene where the group decides to have benefit concerts right to the jam!

The theatrical cut can also be viewed on Amazon for anyone who has Amazon Prime. It’s the one listed as The Gumby Movie.

Edit: Nevermind. It’s not the full edit. The hospital scene is there but the scene of the group arriving at the barn and setting up before their first jam is cut. There’s probably more cuts but this is what I’ve noticed so far.

Random thought on this subject:
I deal with and converse with many many people all day everyday. All ages, all types. Finding out that the person I’m talking with is a Star Wars fan is rarely a surprise and it comes up in conversations fairly often.
However, I NEVER come across anybody who knows what I’m talking about when I bring up the OUT/SE issue. And even after explaining my stance most don’t seem to care AT ALL. At most they find it interesting that I’m so passionate about this subject. Usually they just find my stance on it “eccentric” like the rest of my interests.

I really don’t think there’s much public interest in a restored OT. Harmy’s editions have rallied the faithful, but I think it’s easy to forget how outnumbered we are. Even people who grew up with the originals (and even people who were adults in 1977) are all too willing to believe that the latest thing offered is the best and renders the other versions “outdated”.
Your average person isn’t interested in “cultural history” or “good movies”.

Having said all that, I think fan-made restorations are the only way we will ever get the OUT and I’m just so damned happy that people with the time and skills are creating versions I can watch and love.

I guess it depends what crowd you’re in. A lot of people I talk to know of the changes at least to some degree. For instance most people if I ask ‘who shot first?’ most will say Han. Me and my stepdad make fun of Vader’s ‘Nooooo’ all the time while at the same time he loves that McDiarmid was added to Empire. So I guess it really depends on what crowd you’re in. Just because some areas are populated with people who don’t care doesn’t mean it’s the same everywhere.

Ok here’s how it goes. From the concensus I’ve seen it appears that a good majority of the Star Wars fans who own the current BD sets are fine with them as is. So a simple 4K restoration of the same SE is likely not gonna be enough of a good selling point to sell the same version again. So what do they do?? Restore the original cuts to be included WITH the 4K restored SE.

Seriously guys. Quit being morons. Theoretically speaking what sounds like it’ll profit more even if by a fraction?? A 4K release with only the SE or a 4K release with both cuts?? One cut caters to only a specific market while more than one cut caters to multiple markets.

Case and point. How many people do you actually suspect petitioned to have all those cuts of Blade Runner released together?? Compared to Star Wars probably little to nothing. Did it stop Ridley Scott from remastering those cuts and releasing them together?? Nope. Another example is how a few years ago Kino released a cut of the silent film Metropolis with restored footage not seen since the original release. Compared to Star Wars who do you think really gave a crap about that?? Nonetheless did it prevent them from restoring and releasing it?? Don’t think so.

I’m honestly puzzled why some of you even ask why Disney would spend the money to restore the originals while at the same time neglecting to realize that a restored OUT is likely gonna be packaged as an extra to the SE anyways. However as long as the originals are presented in proper quality I’m sure the majority of us would be fine with it.

Until Lucasfilm/Disney gives a direct response on the matter the speculation resumes as far as where I stand. And no the Kathleen Kennedy interview does not count.

Are YOU serious? Most Star Wars fans have bought pretty every release of Star Wars since the first home video version was released in the early 1980s. All they needed to do, was claim it’s been remastered, or add a few extras. So, given that reality, what makes you believe this trend will suddenly stop with a 4K release? If they release a 4K version with a few new extras, the damn thing will sell like crazy, like all Star Wars releases have, with or without the OOT.

I didn’t say it would stop. My point was having both cuts would increase the profitability of the next release even if it’s by a slight margin. Again one caters to one market, the other more than one.

Anyone here who just wants to run the same old blah blah ‘they’re not gonna spend the money’ as if to shut down all hopes of it ever happening when they have no more knowledge of the subject than those continuing to speculate must really not want the OUT in the end.

And no I don’t wanna hear that ‘well I used to work in marketing and’ blah blah. Did you work for Lucasfilm’s or Disney’s marketing?? No?? Didn’t think so.
