Here’s the new C-3PO line, courtesy of DMC.

And, here’s the current state of Rose’s new line. I want to smooth the background noise and fix the bad lip sync when I get the chance, but I wanted to show where it’s currently at.

I’ve revisited and tweaked Rose’s added line, and I’m satisfied, for now, with what I’ve done. Now, BB-8 rolls in and burbles emphatically, Rose says “The shuttle,” BB-8 bleeps in alarm, and the group sprints off. I don’t think the added line is distracting or noticeably sentence-mixed, although it does sound like a bit of a flat delivery perhaps. It’s fine for its purpose, unless something better shows up.

Include a “Now a word from us kids!” section between each act, to bring the prequels more in line with Arthur canon.

V1 update:

I’ve watched through some of the workprint and made a couple of changes - mostly restoring the odd line here and there to smooth transitions or pacing, cleaning up edits that felt off, and sometimes actually cutting a little more out.

I’m about 1/5th of the way through the movie. I need to record some audio to replace a temp recording I forgot I hadn’t replaced, and, I’m wondering if someone can use that new C-3PO TikTok thing to record a couple of 3PO words for it. EDIT: Thank you, DMC!

All things considered, I’m happy with how it’s turned out so far.

Not a meme, but a request: can someone with TikTok make 3PO say “Not Ackbar!”, to replace his meaningless “Oh dear!” when told all the leadership on the bridge died in TLJ?

Coming back to this, I thought someone had repurposed Kijimi’s destruction from TROS as Alderaan - but when I looked at the footage, the laser in TROS is red. Did someone colour-correct it?

That sounds like the perfect way to skip over the nonsensical Raiders of the Lost Ark scene with the dagger and the Death Star. I kinda want him to recite a rhyming riddle but Idk if the fact that C-3PO improvises a translation that rhymes is a bit too convenient. Nonetheless, a riddle of some sort could be interesting. It would even retain the treasure hunting aspect of the original dagger extension scene without the plot holes.

Really though, is the 3PO voice necessary for that? The movie gives him a different voice when his eyes turn red, and I think that makes more sense.

That was already discussed and decided against in this thread, however, as a big proponent of “Sith-3PO’s riddle,” I reckon move it to the general ST discussion thread.

Leave Luke and his family’s dialogue in English, but use the French dub for everyone else, to increase the sense that Luke is stepping into an unfamiliar new world.

Obi-Wan speaks English to Luke but French to everyone else; when Luke trains with the remote, have his comment to Obi-Wan be in French, who then says “Good, you’ve taken your first steps into a larger world” (but in French).

Han kisses Leia. Han pulls back, unsure of Leia’s reaction.

LEIA: Okay, hotshot.

Leia kisses Han back. Cut to wide as 3PO interrupts them.

I do like the alternate take, because it does show some vulnerability to Han. When he pulls back, he almost looks guilty, worried that he might’ve been too forward. He gulps, waiting for Leia’s reaction. Leia taking charge of the situation also fits Leia’s character better, I think. Sort of like how Leia took charge of her own rescue in ANH. And it also fits well with the continuity, since in the wide shot where 3PO interrupts them, Leia’s arm is around Han’s neck. She doesn’t put her arm around him in the theatrical close-up two shot, but she does in the alternate take.

At the very least, it would be cool to have this alternate take of this scene, even if you lose a line or two. I guess it then becomes a question of if you can get the color grade to match, and get the music/audio to fit in seamlessly.

Upscaling and restoration have come a long way in the short time since this was posted - heck, I’ve seen a Spider-Man meme group upscale and restore a bootlegged recording of No Way Home solely for the purposes of making higher quality memes. Has anyone taken a crack at upscaling and restoring this lately?

Dub in Luke saying “Rey, you’re a Palpatine” in Rey’s Force Vision, so that way nobody can complain later that it wasn’t set up earlier.

I also do not wish to venture into the wretched hive of scum and villainy that is TikTok, but, the navy seal copypasta would fit nicely when he’s being interrogated by the stormtrooper in TROS.

The difficulty would be in finding something for him to do there that integrates with the existing Endor footage - his part in the story is done when he falls into the Sarlacc because that’s the resolution of the “Han in carbonite” narrative. He’d have to do something on Endor to give his reappearance a reason, I think.

if you just want to have his hand emerge from the pit, I feel like it would be fine to leave it there, precisely because he doesn’t necessarily need to show up again in ROTJ.

Take a SW porn parody and splice in actual surrounding scenes from the SW movies in place of the “parody” scenes.

I thought the idea was that Han could take them there but he just doesn’t want to get too involved, which is why Maz refuses to help him. That’s why the pointless “clean ship” line could be removed with no other changes.

This has always been my interpretation too. I don’t want to sound like I’m Testing anybody’s patience by saying that though; the point of fanediting is to alter things to be interpreted differently.
