The New Generation of Star Wars Fans

In all seriousness, though it was an interesting technique. It's reminiscent of voice acting work--VAs aren't in the same room, delivering their character's lines to each other. They deliver them to the sound booth, and then the director tells them how wrong they did it, and makes them do it again, but this time angrier. Then the best takes are edited together, ba-da-bing. It's part of the expectation among voice actors, but not for live film actors because it's an entirely different set of skills (not unlike the difference between film and stage, or stage and opera).

All of the best productions make sure to have their cast record at the same time. Ask any voice actor and they'll tell you group sessions are the best. It's a shame they're the exception and not the norm.

Nobody 'forgot' about the Force.  As presented in the original film, it is clear we are supposed to think that it was never widely known in the first place, and that the people who have heard of it probably always thought it was mythical rubbish anyway.

Exactly my point.

You could have said that in the first place, as I agree with that completely. =P

The Gunfighters was one of the worst things I've ever sat through. This is coming from someone who enjoys watching the Star Wars Holiday Special! Their accents are TERRIBLE and THAT STUPID SONG NEVER STOPS!!!!! Not to mention they couldn't even be bothered to be historically accurate. So much for being somewhat educational.

The Keys of Marinus was a bit of a drag. I'd recommend something like The Chase or The Tenth Planet over it.

The Daleks' Master Plan was pretty epic from what I recall.

The Empire convincing people to forget about The Force. 20 years won't make people forget!

I don't know if you can pin that one on the EU.

HAN: Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good

blaster at your side, kid.

LUKE: You don't believe in the Force, do you?

HAN: Kid, I've flown from one side of this galaxy to the other. I've

seen a lot of strange stuff, but I've never seen anything to make me

believe there's one all-powerful force controlling everything. There's

no mystical energy field that controls my destiny.

Ben smiles quietly

HAN: It's all a lot of simple tricks and nonsense.

What are you reading?

The King in Yellow by R.W. Chambers

Decided I needed to read this book after I caught wind of it not that long ago. A highly regarded paranormal novel from the late 1890's that inspired Lovecraft, Heinlein, Howard etc.? Okay cool, let's do this.

It starts off very strong and I really dug the first half of the book. It's really strange and mysterious. Then I don't know what happened. The last few stories are basically just little romances set in Paris. I don't get it.

How we have to read out-of-print RPG sourcebooks in order to make sense of novels.

The entire EU is built upon the back of the original WEG RPG source books. Which I always thought was great as they were incredibly well done. I've never felt lost while reading a SW novel but then I stopped once the NJO dropped. Are the current novels that badly written?

I thought the graphic of the Bith (a species renown for being musicians) and the other alien was a reference to the Cafe 80s in Back to the Future Part 2 (Michael Jackson and Ronald Gunray etc).

So maybe it was a nostalgia bar for an even earlier time or maybe not.

They had Nuna Ball and Podracing playing on screens in the back, I'm pretty sure it was a sports bar.
