JEDIT: ARGH!!!
That’s funny because I had the exact opposite reaction. In theaters I couldn’t remember anyone’s name and didn’t find anything compelling about anyone other than Chirrut, Baze, and sort of Krennic. Since then I’ve grown much more attached to the other characters.
The problem with Krennic is that he’s a weak villain and gets weaker and weaker over the movie, while Chirrut and Baze had no reasons to be in the movie, since they’re not even connected to the plot at all (they’re also the cliché-ridden tragic homosexual couple). One of the problems the Disney movies have (IMO) is too many characters at the same time, which makes things more confusing and/or bloated. Remove Chirrut and Baze and Rogue One gets better.
I guess this is the point where I stop feeling any need to read your posts. Thanks for clarifying that for me.
In general I think my enjoyment of a Star Wars movie is in inverse proportion to the number of planets in it.
I don’t care how you rank any of these films, I really enjoy this method of ranking them.
So I think I prefer The Last Jedi over The Force Awakens now because, while TLJ has the awful Canto Bight shit, at least it tried to do something new (even if it sucked and it’s too serious), and because watching TFA is like watching a movie in 2x speed (and a poor, boring, semi-lifeless one with terrible comedy). They’re still poor movies, but, whatever.
Rogue One also sucks.
Ok.
The quality of Rogue One has only gone down for me. The lifeless characters and boring story direction they took sours the experience of an otherwise visually impressive film.

Sports culture tends to churn them out. I’m not on a personal crusade against athletes or anything, but I’m sure as hell not going to go out of my way to make friends with any, because I’m an adult and I don’t have to.
Oh Christ, now I’m in the dumbest conversation.
Oh we’ve had plenty of equally dumb conversations. See Topic, Off.
I just think it’s funny when chryon complains about someone who isn’t straight making him feel uncomfortable.
And complaining about everyone talking about it still counts.
I will say that I knew a couple of football players in high school and college and they were all assholes, but that’s an extraordinary small sample size.
I also played baseball in high school (JV, I wasn’t good enough to make varsity) and they mostly were assholes.
It makes me sad that so many people rank Rogue One so low, as I have really grown to appreciate it, but I get it.
Still can’t see it below any prequel though.
Yeah but are you pro-football-player-in-cheesy-80’s-sci-fi-movie or anti-football-player-in-cheesy-80’s-sci-fi-movie?
I wouldn’t say it’s a shitty thing to say (it is mostly true after all), but it’s a silly reason to not watch a movie that has basically nothing to do with that.
Also it is a pretty massive generalization too I guess.
Football players, just like everyone other group of people, are mostly shitty, but some are cool.
My guess is that their a slightly higher percentage of shitty since they have to beat the shit out of other people to get ahead, not to mention they get the shit beat out of them.
But it’s still a generalization that’s probably too broad.
And I continue to insist it’s the dumbest reason I’ve ever heard for not watching Flash Gordon. Other than the musical number (which is hilarious) it barely comes up.
I’m just sick of it being all over my feed. Like if the character is, then he is. Put it in the movie or whatever. But I wish they’d stop making these claims behind the scenes, and that the media would stop going crazygonuts about it and making articles pop up everywhere.
If they put it in the movie you’d complain about him making you uncomfortable.
I told a female coworker years ago that her hair looked great (she’d just had it cut and colored), and she was flattered.
Maybe she was flattered.
Most Baffling Complaint in a Star Wars Movie thread. 😉
Boring?
Boring???
It’s not exactly high art, but I’ve certainly never heard that one before.
I wasn’t bored so much as unengaged. The protagonists were so underdeveloped that I didn’t care about them or what happened to them.
Ah ok, you had unreasonable expectations for a Flash Gordon movie. :p
I feel like it would be pointless to continue.
CatBus, your cat teeth are showing, and it’s making me…feel things.
Football players are shitty people.
You never watch movies with shitty people in them?

A joke should at least have a tangential relationship to reality, but ok.
Lol.
Maybe, can’t remember.
There is and I don’t care. I am the Keeper of All Things Ahlee and my word is law.
