I mostly meant that we know who all of the actors for the original Knights were and they were all male, and also that none of them had the darksaber.

We also know that the original “actors” weren’t actors so much as stand-ins for later.

Also, no one knew that Moffat’s Gideon had the Darksaber until he pulled it out. It’s quite portable. Also, who knows, maybe she didn’t acquire it until sometime in the years between that flashback and a year after TFA/TLJ takes place.

I just feel portraying it as an impossible plot hole is a bit much.

That’s a valid point.

That said, the scripts do not make her feel like a very good villain, haha.

Probably because we don’t have the script that actually features her to determine.

Even if we had the script, she would probably still seem like a last-minute afterthought. Trevorrow has never been good at writing compelling villains, and the plot outline that was posted doesn’t feature her much at all. She shows up for the final fight, dies, and that’s her entire screen time. She feels like Darth Maul 2.0.

What's your take on Emperor Palpatine being brought back for The Rise of Skywalker?
Time

I feel the opposite way, Burbin. I think that Palpatine was a bad villain for TROS precisely because he came completely out of nowhere. Removing all connections to Snoke and the First Order would only make it seem more random.

It’s like if the Empire were the main villains of ANH and ESB, and then they were sidelined in ROTJ by the Yuuzhan Vong coming out of nowhere. It would be completely nonsensical.

I like some of your ideas here. I’m interested in seeing your version of Vader’s no. I’m not sure why you’re removing Palpatine saying he’s weak though. He’s not actually (as shown when he immediately uses force lightning after Mace’s hand is chopped off), it’s his way of manipulating Anakin into helping him. Him appearing helpless is key in Anakin’s decision to stop Mace, as it’s against the Jedi way to kill an unarmed man. Mace’s hypocrisy to the code that has emotionally enslaved Anakin for years is the straw that breaks the camel’s back.

Uh, these edits were released 15 years ago already. I don’t even know if there are any working links anymore.

That’s fair, that script was far from perfect… but it was a lot better than what Abrams turned in. Like pole-vaulting over a crack in the pavement.

I really, really don’t agree. It’s not better, it’s just different bad.

There are a lot of cool elements, but there are elements so bad that they drag the rest of it deeply below the final product for me.

I don’t know. Any attempt at originality is better than more member-berries.

We’ve had this conversation before, but I strongly disagree. Originality can be good, but only when done well. The same can be said about nostalgia. DOTF was bad originality, TROS is bad nostalgia. They’re bad in different ways, but they’re both equally bad.

What are the themes of the Star Wars movies?
Time

Broom Kid said:

I almost put down “The Spark” for TLJ but while that’s my favorite musical bit in that movie I don’t think you could call it the movie’s theme. Same with Asteroid Field and ESB.

I know, I was just listing my favorite musical pieces in each movie, not necessarily the main themes.
If I had to select the main themes for each movie, it would be:

ANH: Princess Leia’s Theme
ESB: The Imperial March
ROTJ: Luke and Leia
TPM: Duel of the Fates
AOTC: Across the Stars
ROTS: Battle of the Heroes
TFA: Rey’s Theme
TLJ: The Rebellion is Reborn
TROS: The Rise of Skywalker

contriving an excuse for Kylo to get an even more Vader-ey mask

An excuse that was completely stolen from Doctor Doom, by the way. It’s so stupid how Trevorrow planned for Kylo, by far the most empathetic villain in the entire franchise, to become a one-dimensional bad guy who gets redeemed at the last minute.

Kylo staying evil could have been handled well, but Trevorrow’s script completely botched it.

This is a film I had seen a clip of on youtube.

A man, blonde haired woman, and a child are stranded or lost on a rural country highway. This scene takes place during daylight. That’s all I got. It was definitely a horror film and might have had something to do with satanists/devil worshipers. This film was released either in the late 60s or early 70s.

Oh and it was also an American film in color.

Sounds a lot like Manos: The Hands of Fate. It’s one of those famous “so bad it’s good” movies, which is probably why you saw a clip of it on YouTube.

Is there a blonde haired woman in it?

Yeah, there is.

Going away? Post so here!

I’m feeling the same way also. The constant arguing and negativity in the Star Wars fan base is exhausting, and I just don’t feel much passion for Star Wars as a franchise anymore.

I’ve been considering leaving this website, since it’s pretty much my only connection to the Star Wars fan base right now, but I can’t bring myself to do it. Checking this website has just become a habit for me, and it’s gonna be hard to let go.
