Star Wars: A New Hope (Enhanced Edition) CANCELLED
Time

Well, in a nutshell, I didn’t like:

 • The jump cuts from Ben and Vader walking to them just standing there. This happens multiple times before they start dueling.
 • Some awkward editing when Ben says he will become more powerful than Vader could possibly imagine. It switches between original and SC38 way too much.

It’s only those areas that bother me, although they bother me a lot. Most of the issues I have are with the sound not matching up to the footage, which I guess is inevitable for an amateur sound mix.

4K77 - Released

Also, I’m with the new guy here. I just did a quick DuckDuckGo search for 4K77, and the download links aren’t there at all. Even searching “4K77 download” gives no info at all. So you could really be more helpful, Jaxer.

Searching torrent instead of download should bring something up. Jaxer’s continued rude responses may have been out of line, but typing in one single search isn’t trying very hard.

Okay, I typed that, and some results came up. So it is there, you just need to now what to search for. Jaxer could have specified what terms to search instead of being rude and condescending though.

Also, I’m glad that the mods deleted all the cussing and whatnot. Those last few posts were a pain to read though.

 • The Holdo maneuver is a one in a million,

This is something that needs to be retconned out as well…after the pretty visual effect wore off, everyone immediately asked “well why don’t they just ram everything if a smaller ship can take out an entire fleet in one shot.”

The “one in a million” excuse doesn’t work since they can just launch every ship over and over and over until it works. If you only need one sniper to take out an ENTIRE evil government, why waste time with waging war, just keep sending snipers.

It could be that they wanted to keep themselves on the morally pure side of rebellion in attempts to save lives rather than be constant kamikaze terrorists… context matters, right?

But if they wanted to preserve their own lives, couldn’t they just send droids to lightspeed ram ships? Droids have already been established as being intelligent enough to pilot ships on their own, so why couldn’t they just send unmanned lightspeed missiles to blow up whatever threat was in their way?

Lightspeed ramming was a dumb idea to begin with, and the “one in a million” justification only raises further questions. I agree that Finn’s line should be cut, but if I was making TLJ I would find some other way to blow up Snoke’s ship.

How would you handle a hard reboot of all nine episodes of Star Wars?

What does swapping Tatooine and Naboo accomplish, really? I think it was better the other way around.

It gives Anakin more of a personal stake in the story, allows for us to have one POV character for the entire trilogy, and explains the hatred of droids in ANH. I’ve seen the idea of a Separatist occupation of Tatooine floated before, and I really like it.

Unusual Sequel Trilogy Radical Redux Ideas Thread

It’s like…anime. I like anime, but it’s horrendously rife with “serious moment…then you MUST break the tension with sight gag/dialogue.” I’m betting Rian must be a hardcore anime fan.

Nothing about the humor screams anime to me. If anything, it’s more like live-action blockbusters.

Yeah, none of TLJ’s humor reminds me of any anime I have watched. The humor is much more in the style of Marvel movies, most notably Age of Ultron and Thor Ragnarok. Those movies felt almost like comedies to me.

Popularity of the Original Trilogy enhanced by Prequels?
Time

First off, I strongly disagree with your claim that there are no good movies nowadays. I find myself enjoying modern movies just as much as I do older movies. I think your nostalgia might be blinding you to the genuinely good movies that are released today.

But on the subject of the OT, I think it was just as popular, if not more, before the prequels. It can’t be understated how much of a cultural force Star Wars was in the late 70’s and early 80’s. I doubt that the controversy surrounding the prequels increased its popularity much, given how popular it was already. Also, a lot of people here would disagree with you on the prequels being complete garbage. It’s not an objective thing at all.

Not sure what FHD is?

FHD Full HD (1080p)
UHD Ultra HD (4K)

I was asking about the the 2020 FHD blu-rays that came out with the 4k ones. But I guess since those come from the same “new” sources as the 4K versions, the colors, the tighter framing etc. are identical to those of the 4k ones. Minus the higher resolution and HDR ofc.

Keep in mind those are only available in the box with the 4K, the individual releases are still the 2011 version.

Have we ever gotten confirmation of that? Only one source said that, and it only said it was a rumor, so I’m not sure.

I guess since so many people are coming up with reboot ideas for the saga, I should try to come up with my own rather than copping out. So, imagine that I initially pitched my “hundreds of years later” idea, but they didn’t like it, so I caved to studio pressure and made a series of remakes for the entire saga. Here’s what it would look like:

Episode 1 would start with teenager Anakin Lars and his brother Owen on Tatooine. Suddenly, they see troop ships descending from the sky, and realize that the evil Separatists have begun invading the planet with their battle droid army. They frantically rush to a nearby spaceport to escape, and on the way bump into two Jedi named Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, who were part of a failed attempt to negotiate with the Separatists. With the help of Anakin’s piloting skills, they escape the Separatist blockade. However, they don’t have enough hyperfuel to warn the Republic capital of the attack, and so they decide to make a pit stop on the beautiful planet of Naboo. There, they meet Padme, the senator of the planet. Padme agrees to help them negotiate once they get to Coruscant, and she joins their crew. However, they end up being attacked by the mysterious Sith warrior Darth Maul, making them realize that the Sith have returned. Once they get to Coruscant, the plot is mostly the same, except with Naboo replaced with Tatooine, and Anakin being more mature since he’s older. The story ends with Anakin destroying the Separatist droid control ship, Qui-Gon being killed by Darth Maul, Obi-Wan seemingly killing Darth Maul, and Obi-Wan reluctantly agreeing to train Anakin.

I’ll post plot summaries for the rest of the saga later.

We’ve certainly augmented a few things in light of TLJ, but I do not share the appraisal of TROS ignoring TLJ. It clearly wanted to retcon some stuff, though.

Yeah, that’s what I’ve been saying. TROS didn’t just “ignore” TLJ like so many people are saying, there were several references to the events throughout the movie:

 • The plot as a whole is only facilitated by Snoke and Luke being dead.
 • The Skywalker saber has clearly been taped together after it was broken in TLJ.
 • When Kylo has his vision, it plays some audio of Luke saying “Ben, no!” from TLJ.
 • Kylo can’t rebuild his helmet if it was never broken in the first place.
 • When Kylo talks to Rey on Passana, he says, “I offered you my hand once.”
 • When Kylo reveals the truth about Rey, he explicitly compares it to his earlier revelation about Rey’s junk trader parents.
 • Hux being the spy makes no sense without Kylo treating him like trash in TLJ.
 • When Rey heals Kylo, she responds to Kylo’s earlier statement, saying “I did want to take your hand.”
 • When Luke talks to Rey, he mentions the lesson he learned in TLJ, that it’s wrong to run away from your troubles.
 • When the Resistance is planning their attack, one of them mentions “Holdo manuevers”.

And that’s just the stuff I remember off the top of my head. Point is, someone who skipped TLJ and went straight from TFA to TROS would be hopelessly confused.
I agree that there should have been more thematic continuity with TLJ, though. Hal’s edit has been doing a wonderful job of that so far.

Oh I’d love to see a new saga set 100 years after the current one.

It wouldn’t just be 100 years, it would be full centuries, maybe even millennia. By that point, the events of the main saga would be all but forgotten, and no one would have any clue that the Jedi and Sith existed. But eventually, the Force becomes unbalanced again, leading to people once again being able to feel the Force. When they don’t even know what these strange powers are, how do they deal with them?

It’s the story I wanted to see in the sequel trilogy, but didn’t end up getting.
