STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time
Well, the reason I tried the ROTS clip was that someone (I forget who) suggested that it's not really necessary in ROTS...it's a nice image to leave the audience with and it's fun for us fans...but not really necessary. As Lucas might say: “We know where he ends up.”
It also brings up the question of how long it takes to build a death star. 20 years? then between ESB and ROTJ maybe 2 years? Why?

Erikstormtrooper:
Thanks for pointing that out. Yes, the clip would have to be reworked a bit...Tarkin erased and all of that...

AuggieBenDoggie:
No, we as the audience did NOT know a second death star was being built during ESB. A lot of people here on the boards thought that the second death star kind of came out of nowhere in ROTJ. A cheap trick if you will. A rehash. Anyway...that was where the idea came from...

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

OK, second video:
There has been talk (here and the StarKiller thread) about adding the Death Star in some form to ESB.

Here's how I see it:
IF it's added, it can't just simply be added to a background shot. There needs to be an "Oh no!" moment for the audience.
The DS should just be one more thing that makes this movie dreadful for our heroes...ya know?
AND (IMHO) you can't show something as dreadful as the DS (at the beginning of the movie) and then expect the audience to kind of forget about it until ROTJ.

Sooooo....with all of that in mind, check out this video clip:

The Death Star in ESB...?

Comments?

P.S. Check out the other video I posted a couple of pages ago.....

"would it be interesting to move this conversation to nearer the beginning of the film? it may help to explain exactly why vader is pursuing luke in the first place, and then why he so desperately wants to capture han and leia?"

That actually makes alot of sense, ben_danger. I have a feeling though that the idea will be shot down....

ESB Revisited thread huh? This am cozy!

OK, so I've had this video clip for a while-...this idea for a while.
I'm talking PT mixed in with OT here...so I know some of you won't like it at all.
I'm cool with it either way...I just thought it would be fun to throw in the movie....maybe.
Please hate it and bash it!

Adywan, This is a great gift you’ve given us fans! This, again, I feel has gone above and beyond what I ever expected!
Oh! And thanks for the credit! I like the idea that I contributed to this awesome edit!

It’s taken me a week to download this thing(slow and limited connection)…I've watched the movie, but there is no audio...
Would anyone care to help me? These are all of the files I've download to get this thing...
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k168/SSWR/adywan.jpg
Am I missing the audio file? How do I link the video and audio together?
Thanks in advance!

Well, Adywan, this is just too exciting!
I haven’t had consistent internet access for a few months now, but I’ve always found a way to keep up on this project.

This idea has gone far beyond what I even *thought* I wanted from Lucas!

Can’t wait to get a hold of this edition!

I think what has made this thread so much fun is throwing out ideas and questions...learning more about a movie I love…having conversations with others and getting feedback on ideas. I have enjoyed the whole process (of course, YOU had the hard part).

I’m looking forward to ESB…I have a few ideas…but it’s ROTJ I’m really looking forward to discussing! I have quite a few ideas for that movie!

This new trailer is too cool! I love the big and little things you've added to the movie.

Sabers look great, soldier getting hit by lazer is excellent, the falcon in hyperspace is great fun, the R2 lights look flawless, the R2 falcon background is also flawless, the "asteroid field" is great, the deathstar battle is...well, I just about pissed my pants, and Chewy's medal is the perfect ending!

Prequel Trilogy - Sagafied (* unfinished project *)

TheTome,
In regards to the first clip you posted: (opening of the movie til the landind of the ship)
Some great ideas in this edit! Some very brave ideas too. Some questionable ones as well...
I'll be brief (simply because I'm too lazy to type right now).

The opening space battle is alot of fun. I'm surprised how well it works. The rearranging of the dialogue alone is excellent.
I DO kind of miss the "well have you noticed the shield is still up?!" line. But that's just me...

I feel that the music ends too abruptly after the Jedi cut down the droids.

I believe the Dooku flip has got to go. If you can, I'd remove it.
The music during the duel is very nice.
I'm undicided about the editing of the duel itself...there's so many that I've seen so recently

Very clever editing out the Anakin/Obi/Palp sliding around the ship scene!

The "new" scene with "new" dialogue has the most issues. It is alot of fun. The dialogue between Ani and Obi you've put together works well, and is quite humorous, but, without lipsync, I just think people will be sucked out of the moment. IMHO. Again, it's still alot of fun.

I know, that's a short reply to all the hard work you've put into this edit...hopefully I can get around to rewatching it and commenting some more!

"Before the PT I had no problem believing that Obi-Wan knew how to come back as a force ghost."

Well, I suppose the problem started with Qui-Gon.
The question becomes "Why doesn't Qui-Gon come back in the same way that the Obi does in ESB and ROTJ?"
In fact, why doesn't ANY Jedi show up later in ANY of the films?

"There is no need to explain anything about the force ghost or mention Qui-gon. It dumbs down the Force for the audience, and makes it less mysterious."
I guess I disagree here. Midichlorians dumbed the force down. Returning in qhost form is interesting.

"Let the audience draw their own conclusion as to why Jedi can come back as force ghosts."
But that's the problem. Out of hundreds of Jedi we see in the saga, only 3 return? The questions is "why?"
I personally think that is something that needs to be explained.

"This would remove the need to insert and mix dialogue from other films that does not sound good and stands out very badly."
Ouch. The clip Good Musician posted was (he said so in the same post) raw and unfinshed.

"As I said in a few posts back, I'm trying to create a similar conversation to what was in the original scene.."
-Oops! I'll go take a look over at T-bones site!

"I kinda want to re-watch episode I and III and see if there isn't any more dialogue that I could insert for Yoda. I think I got most of what Qui-Gon has said... your idea of using Yoda's Line "How can this be?" would be a good idea... but I don't recall it lol... where in Episode II is it?"
-It's the scene where Yoda's teaching the younglings.

"I guess my whole thing with the clones was maybe to Show Yoda's distrust that he was the chosen one... to bring balance to the force... The Clones represent the opposite... that things went out of whack... and that Sidious gained power instead of losing it."
-Hmmm...the idea is nice...I must admit that it didn't occur to me when watching it. But I also know you're not done with it.

"As for "ruining" an iconic moment from the PT, I kinda take offense to that lol... I mean... I kinda liked it after I saw it... ... but maybe I'll put it as I'd had it before..."
-I'm sorry, Good Musician. Please don't take offense. "Ruining" does sound harsh. I just meant it is a very iconic shot from ANH. I personlly thought it was overkill when Lucas reused it in ROTS. Ya know, Lucas trying all that he could to tug on our heart stings. I did, however, like the mirror image he created in AOTC.
But, again, that's just my one and only opinion. Thanks for reading.

Alright! This Yoda/Qui-Gon scene has potential! Let's chat...

The dialogue that you've patched together works really well!
When I watched your clip, I didn't want the scene to end! I really miss Qui-Gon from the PT and it was cool to have him "back".
The line "You still have much to learn, my apprentice." Doesn't work as well, in my opinion.
I guess having Qui-Gon call Yoda "apprentice" is odd. I guess I can't really say why. I just don't think of Yoda as an apprentice.
Could it be "You still have much to learn, old friend." Or "...master Yoda."?
Yeah, I would take a listen to Batman Begins and see what might work there.
I would encourage you to try and extend the dialogue between the two...it's just so cool!
This idea just came to me:

Qui-gon: "He IS the chosen one."
Yoda(from ATOC): "How can this be?"

I liked SOME of the cutting back and forth between Yoda and the visions, but it was slightly over done.
I'm also not sure about some of the clips:
Clones: Why clones?
Padme: We're gonna see her in a sec.
Luke: Let's not "ruin" the iconic shot from ANH.

"Also, do you guys think I should pull that short clip of the skiff flying away from Mustafar (the unused one). I tried extending it but it got all weird and blurry... I kinda like that shot..."

Yes, I would cut it. But if you feel it should stay, you should at least flip the shot for screen directions sake.

Gotta go!

Again, great stuff! Please continue!

It would have made more sense to leave Yoda out of the PT completely.
I mean, how great of an introduction do we get for Yoda in ESB?
Then, we meet him again-...for the "first" time in the PT, and what do we get?
Almost a parody of what he was in ESB! Heck, that's almost the case in ROTJ...

It would have made more sense to have him mentioned as being on some far off planet where every Jedi went to take the trials (Great idea from someone on these boards...I forget who! Sorry!).

Lucas decided to bring back almost EVERY character from the OT into the PT and now, watching them in order, you get almost ZERO new characters in 4,5, and 6. Which, of course, makes it a very small universe.
We didn't need Jabba, Boba, Chewy, Yoda...the only ones that really needed to return would have been Obi, Anakin, and Palps.

OK, that was a random rant!

I figured I'd throw a new version out there incorperating some of the new ideas we've tossed out...
Again, it's very very rough...in fact, the second half with Obi picking up the saber is extremely rough. There needs to be a few more shots incorperated into it. I wish there were some shots of the lava bank without Anakin smoldering. That would be ideal.
Then, you could make it seem as though Obi came down to the bank to see if he could find Anakin, but all he found was his saber.
That is what I'm trying to get across in this edit......
