This reminds me. Is Ady gonna put new skies in for Tatooine like he did in ANH:R?

I hope so. Everything looks bright and colorful-...just like the PT!

The backgrounds need to be desaturated a bit...those vey blue skies and red sand dunes...it would probably help to get rid of any clouds in the background too.

I ALSO hope Ady will look at the endor forest. The greens seem to be all over the place. From scene to scene and from shot to shot.

That's an interesting idea, but I don't know how you'd get it across using existing footage.

A shot of Slave One heading off into space, A shot of Slave One heading towards the Rebel fleet, a shot of Fett hanging around in the background of the briefing out of sight of Han and the rest and no mention of the Bothan spies.

Leia : "I hope it's worth the price we paid"

vaderios I'm sure, could knock out some wonderful mock ups.

This is a cool idea but without any of our heros having some sort of reaction to Fett (especially Han) being there I'm afraid it won't make much sense...

i really like what youve done with han in the rebel briefing, the pause works really well. i also like how you are adding more force stuff for luke in the rancor pit.

i really hope ady will use some of these ideas of yours (if you are ok with that!)

 Thanks  for the feedback guys!

I like Han in the rebel briefing too...I knew that I wanted to change the ending of that scene. I never really liked how once Luked showed up the briefing just fell apart. This ending seems a little more logical and it makes both Han and Liea's characters a little more interesting...IMHO

Oh I'm very much OK with Adywan using any of these ideas! ;)

the thing i love about endor, is how the rebels are all in camo to obviously stay hidden from the empire, yet they take a bright golden robotic man with them? sadly i guess he is integral to the plot...:P

any ideas to using obi wan in endor? i'd like to see some of softi han being cut down perhaps (less furry cuddles i guess!)

really really glad youre still working on this one!:) id like to see some experimental clips or cuts like the ones you posted earlier if youre comfortable posting them up!:)

Yeah, ya know it's sad because in ANH and ESB you get to see and hear from alot of the different rebels which is great. But then you get to ROTJ and all you get is a couple of shots of Wedge and Admiral Ackbar. Yes you see the troops who come with Luke & Co. but they're always in the background and you never hear them!

Obi on Endor? You mean moving Luke and Obi's conversation to Endor? I had thought about that a long time ago...never really tried it...coudn't really think of a good place to put it.

Yes, I've trimmed some of Han and Liea's talk up in the trees...it should be a little more natural..."I...can't...tell...you!" Terrible. Just terrible.

I'm gonna try and post a couple of clips tonight if I can. The clips I post will always be experimental. I don't have the time or knowledge OR software to pull this off right. I *hope* my clips can be helpful for future edits of ROTJ (*wink*wink* Adywan)...people can see what might work and maybe not dismiss certain ideas right off the bat-...or they'll know right away that it doesn't work by watching my clips! ;)

The Prequel Radical Redux Ideas Thread
Time

IMPERIAL COMMANDER: "Lord Vader, we can't board the Rebel ship yet, The LSO haven't started up the Imperial March."

DARTH VADER: "Williams, just play that boring Imperial Motif, the Sith have no need for grand entrances."

JOHN WILLIAMS: "Tell that to the designer of that enormous white triangle you guys came in on."

FAN NERD: "It's not white it's very light grey."

FAN EDITOR: "Not when I'm through with it."

THAT is funny!

I'd like to see a better love story in AOTC. Here's a rough version I made that I think works pretty well...

http://rapidshare.com/files/183848266/LoveStory_01.avi.html

I wanted to make it so Padme falls for Anakin more easily and naturally. First, I cut the politics. Everyone else tends to leave this in their edit. Not sure why. I never got the impression that Vader cared much about politics. I never really liked these "flashes" of the darkside in AOTC anyway. I cut the dinner scene. Anakin saying "grumpy" is terrible. I tried to get to the meat of the confession scene where Anakin declares his love for Padme and cut all of the cringe inducing dialogue along the way.

Amazing work on cloud city, Ady!

I look forward to seeing if the "citizens escaping cloud city" works out...I think that'll add to the chaos thats happening...

Oh! I thought of something the other day...obviously you're gonna have to have another cameo in ESB:R...so you should definantly put your face on the ice cream dude!

Adywan!

Had to log in a comment on the new clips!

-Yoda is looking really good! I didn't think it was gonna be nessicary to adjust the performance...but it works wonderfully!

-Asteroids look amazing!I-...

I know this is your intent but I thought I should say that you are indeed enhancing SFX shots and performances from ESB. Like I said above...I didn't think it was nessicary with yoda...nor did I think so with the asteroids...but you have proved me wrong!  :)

Info Wanted: attempts to fix yoda in the prequels
Time

Wow...that's kind of cool!

I don't know if there's any sort of plug in with after effects that could basically paste one face on top of another...but someone should look into it!

There are several thing about the PT Yoda that bug me...

-Simply doesn't look like it's in its actual space. Don't really know how else to explain it...part of it has to do with artificial CG lighting...

-While most of the animation is up to par with anything else you might see these days, it's not anywhere near what Oz did with the puppet! Yeah, yeah, the ears jiggle...but that's not enough!

Example: Yoda looks towards screen right. With a puppet, Oz had limited eye movment so that meant he had to also move the head and the entire body to look to the right...which meant there had to be slighty different staging for the scene...which means slighty different lighting...and so on. Everything adds up to an entirely different performance. If all you have to do to look towards screen right is move the mouse cursor a certain direction, you'll get a different performance.

-The voice. When Oz was simpy having to read a few lines into a mic and NOT be there on set and get his hands into the character of Yoda....well the voice acting did suffer. AND the actors suffered as well since all they had was someone reading lines off stage. They had noone to interact with.

OK, sorry. Done for now! ;)

If you mean the ion cannon on Hoth, that would work.  The regular troop blasters don't need any extra blast animation.

Yeah, I do mean the ION canon. I think the blast should retain the same shape but have an electrical look to it. It could have a electric tail streaming from it as it fires. If you wanted to really change things up you could show electricity emitting all around the canon itself right before it fires. It would be a cool way of showing it power up.

Yeah, I went off on a rabit trail with the stun gun comment...sorry for the confusion ;)

I had a idea for the ion cannon after watching the new clone wars show tonight. Wouldn't look cooler if instead of it shooting a standard laser shot, if Ady could make the laser bolts look electrical. They should maintain the same shape and size , but have a more electric look. What do you guys think?

Actually, I think that's worth a try. Sounds cool.

I like seeing different looking explosions/laser/blasts and stuff.

I wish the stun effect on the troopers weapons had made another appearence in the saga...it's cool but we only see it once...

About the ROTJ ending (even though this is the ESB:R thread. lol). I have to say that i always hated the Yub Nub ending and thought the SE ending was a small improvement . But the celebrations seemed to be a bit sudden. There was no Imperial activity shown at all. I think they would have made more sense if you had shots that showed Imperial Officers  & stormtroopers being lead off to detention centres or just rounded up like the Wookies were in EP3. This way the celebrations would have seemed more linear with what was happening on Endor. I want to keep the celebrations as they do seem to round off the complete saga nicely, but why is Tatooine there? Just another shot that didn't need to be added. If there as a way i could show the rounding up of the imperials & maybe add some shots that show that many battles had taken place simultaneously around the galaxy where the Empire has been defeated then it would be a better ending for me. As for the music neither the original or the SE music would not be returning in my edit.  I've always thought that the ending for the saga should have had a fitting orchestral score, so that is what i will be doing. I have a few years before i get to this stage so plenty of time to find the right piece of music. Plus i really need to concentrate on ESB:R so i don't really want to think about ROTJ:R for a while yet.

This is what I wanted to hear, Ady! Some great ideas! :)

I've been playing around with a different ending that I'll eventually post...maybe you'll be able to use some of the ideas.

the Naboo scene.  The celebration flows much better without it.

It's not so much that Naboo erks me...it's that we see Tatoonie.

I thought the empire didn't mess with that "old rock"? (of course except to find the droids)

I hope there's something new that can be done about the ending...

I *do* hate the last Star Wars movie ending with the Teddy bear picnic...

Hey, thanks for the plug! I just found this thread and the conversation is great!

The restructuring I've done in my edit (hopefully) does several different things...one of those things being the absurdness of the plan to rescue Han.

Maybe it IS left up to interpretation...maybe it's suppose to harken back to Obi's line, "...but there are alternatives to fighting."...but to me, it just isn't clear enough...it's just too convoluted...

i really liked it, especially the fact that you uploaded it in a far-from-complete form, which was quite nice to see. the only two things i wasnt too sure about was bens speech on tatooine, im not sure how much it will break up the pacing, but it seems to make alot of sence:

leia goes to rescue han, they BOTH get captured (like in ESB)

luke goes to rescue them, but this time succeeds.

the other thing though is the arrival of the emperor, could you leave this until they go to the rebel fleet? its a good way of establishing a shift in storyline to fighting empire as oppose to fighting jabba.

i liked the alternative fate of the droids, ie being taken straight to the dungeon, and the executor appearance, though vaders little intro may not be necessary. id rather not see him until the second half of the film with the emperor.

Thanks, ben_danger! I appreciate the feedback!

Yeah, I haven't been sure about Ben out Tatoonie...but for me-...well, you can read my reasons in the original post...

It also seems to add a little more to Lukes' side of the story: he's been training all this time with Yoda, learns about Vader, returns home, finds out about his trapped frineds...this is all piling up on him..."I can't do it R2. I can't go on alone..."

Good point about the emperor scene...

I've looked at the vader's and emperor/vader scenes several times...wondering if there's something I could do with them. They're very similar visually...and they don't do much with pushing the plot forward...

I've looked at even combining them (vader lands...then emperor lands...then they have their talk)...but I don't know...

Thanks again!
