Always a great joy to see some Mando cursing, Rogue Leader!

I fully agree that Ady has shown us plenty of material and previews on Empire Revisited. We shouldn't keep begging him for more.

It would be like a movie coming out today, and it kept releasing more and more new trailers and commercials, and in each one there were shots and plot from different segments of the movie. A movie kinda losses its buzz for me, after seeing almost all of it in previews (granted we all know what Empire about.)

I can't wait to watch the entire film and be blown away by the myriad of other changes Ady has made.

Always glad to add new and colorful phrases to my repertoire ner vod. ;) However, fierfek isn't Mando'a, it's a Huttese curse that was adopted by Republic Commando units during the Clone Wars. =D I love saying it cos it has two Fs. ;)

I ain't as fortunate as Ganamae apparently who's seen a working print (lucky son of a nek... =P) but I can safely assure everyone that you guys will be blown away. XD

....and I think I'll let adywan announce whether he thinks anyone should bother saying much else on this thread, or not.

As there's still a few months before this edit is ready, I'm still interested in anything 'Empire'-related that someone following this thread may yet want to comment on, whether adywan gets a chance for updates or not.

I agree, to extent... Ady has gone above and beyond showing us some really cool things and so it is with in his right to show us more or less considering it's his project. However, dealing with the occasional uber fan and/or random n00b requesting whatever can get very tiresome (it's not just here but on the Facebook group as well).

I'd be inclined to say that Ady doesn't like turning down requests however at the same time it's necessary because other wise everything would be shown and given away and there would be no surprises when ESB:R is finally out. More over, making and posting clips takes time away from Admiral Ady working to finish the awesomest fan edit ever... I'd say it's very much up to Ady to show or not show whatever but I don't think he would mind help from the rest of us to let folks know that they should have patience and in certain cases chill the fierfek out. =D

Not different enough for the PT in my opinion. I still think the z95 Headhunter or Y Wings with all their armour plating intact would be ideal to replace those horrendous looking ships in ROTS (I forget what they're called)

I was looking around and so happened to come across this, its like a cross between the ARC 170 and the X-wing

http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20071202181709/starwars/images/0/0a/Ewing_negvv.jpg

Yep, the Z-95 Headhunter was the predecessor to the X-wing prior to the PT, not those "Arc-fighters". The fully armor Y-wings should also be pretty prevalent during this Battle of Coruscant. The X-wing variants shown are the XJ series which won't be created till 21 years ABY during the events of the New Jedi Order series.

That last ship is the E-wing Starfighter, which first appearance in the EU was Dark Empire during the Battle of Mon Calamari. That occured 10 years ABY. So most of that fighter craft don't exist yet if you're looking at the EU timeline. Z-95s and fully armored Y-wings should, that and Victory-class Star Destroyers...

np, sorry I didn't reply sooner. Didn't check this area of the boards in a while. =]

So in looking further into atmospheric coloration, it looks like the reason why the atmosphere of Geonosians should be more orange/yellow depends on how much iron oxide particulate that is in the air at any given time (at least that's what the explanation is for Mars). Since the premise is that Geonosis contains a high amount of raw material mainly iron type metals (to build battle droids) stemming from the assumption that this is why they have the droid foundries are on this particular planet/homeworld. Therefore, the sky being blue is a matter of chemical interaction with in the atmosphere.

Because of it's lower gravity, Mars is not large enough (slightly smaller than Earth) to sustain it's own atmosphere as we know it (which would make it bluer) and so iron oxide particulate is easily kicked up making it orange/yellowish/reddish...  If Geonosis was large enough to maintain a gravitational pull to sustain an atmosphere that is similar to Earth then it would be blue overall. This would also depend on what type of sun Geonosis orbits as well...

Anyway... whatever looks more Star Warsy would be my recommendation. =D

Hey guys,

Thought I'd share something I tracked down on Wikipedia: "More recently, another and much more detailed fan edit of Star Wars called "Star Wars Revisited" came out in 2008. It has numerous changes including; new visual effects, color correction, new scenes, as well as corrected continuity and editing scenes. This new version is very popular on fan edit sites as well as YouTube."

Okay Ady, I gonna do the dick move here.

I am gonna be bit demanding.

Its April 2010 and I am going insane waiting for this.

Probably just out and out piss my pants in shock for just the trailer of Return of the Jedi Revisited trailer.

But I gonna ask what we are all thinking.

If you could put a percentage on how much is done I think we deserve it.

If it is less the 50% I will probably go on tower with a rifle or just do what the Plinkett Reviews guy does with the hookers in the crawl space.

God, you think you're going insane sitting there doing absolutely nothing apart from waiting for the edit? Try working on this thing for over 2 years & then you'll realise what feeling like you're going insane actually means. All i'll say is that there is at least 6 months worth of work left to do.

IF, very detailed post once again ;)

There are many flipped shots that i won't be re-flipping because it throws the scene out. The SE shot i won't be flipping because it would stand out too much as being the same set used later. The Chewie shot where he is firing at the troopers can't be flipped either along with the stormtroopers firing because of directional issues. The shot of Luke falling will not be flipped fully. I will hopefully  be flipping Luke in the 2 shots as he is falling

As for the wall issue its actually an optical illusion. The curved part of the wall sticks out quite a bit and when viewed from a different angle it makes it look like the corner of the wall is thinner, when it is in fact the same set.  Just look at the squib marks. they are exactly the same. Plus you can see just how far this section sticks out in other shots from behind chewie and when the squib explodes in the close up shot you can see that its slightly hidden due to the curvature of this section.  No need for a fix here.

Now here's a quick little fix i've just finished (please don't cross post this to anyone elses youtube account)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kEUEISUj9M4

Not sure how I feel about this one... I know Wedge is supposed to be Rogue 3 and all, but maybe it's the change in pitch in Luke's voice that makes it sound a little odd.  Is there any way to alter the pitch to Mark Hamill's voice to sound similar to his original line (with the slightly higher and more urgent pitch)?

Its more likely that you have been use to hearing that line delivered in a higher pitch for so many years. I won't raise the pitch of any dialogue as this starts to sound unnatural, and when doing the PAL version he would start sounding like a chipmunk.

And the time it took to write all that, Ady could of finished a whole new scene by now! ;) Now let the man work in peace! =P

Even im not to the bluesky concept

i still like the process. Remembering the dracula acid planet concept .Bingo im still trying to find ways making Geonosis morel like the Acid Rain planet that vader had his planet.

Im sure rogue leader can give more info for that EU factor

-Angel

You referring to Vjun? In old concept paintings it's more of a volcano planet but that was changed... Other than that the terrain is rather lifeless and Vader's castle is one of a few structures on the planet. Terrain is rocky but due to the acid rain has been smoothed over the centuries into stalagmite like structures.

Oh and for the comments considering the Geonosians coloration under a blue sky... yeah good points there. I guess I was thinking of counter shading in certain marine animals where the top is darker due to potential predators looking down and the bottom is lighter for animals looking up towards the surface. Also as there is no real evidence of life/predators other than the Geonosians on Geonosis or oceans... I guess they wouldn't have much need to for extreme camouflage or be blue. Will ponder about this...

Ady doesn't need to capitulate to any demands here or anywhere else. Status reports are therefore also invalid... All you need to know is that he's doing awesome stuff for free for us all and he'll be open to suggestions... not demands of this type. Also how are "we" deserving of it? You seem to think a fan edit of this magnitude is an easy endeavor... consider yourself incredibly wrong.

Ah, it's been fixed. =D Before it said "Rougue" but all is well again! =) Any word on the remaining gear? We had a storm system pass through recently which gave up some snow in the mountains and at higher elevations. Our plan B is still being worked out too. he didnt call wedge rogue 2.....he called the gunner rouge 2

You do realise that only the pilot has a call sign and not the gunner. And Rogue 2 is a totally different pilot anyway if you check the movie and you will see that's it's Zev that is Rogue 2.

Ady's correct, Zev Senesca is Rogue Two, gunners are under the same call sign as the pilot when in the same vehicle. Although Wes Janson is an outstanding pilot in his own right his skill as a gunner is even better.

Ady, you spelled Rogue wrong in the youtube clip. I weep on the inside... =(

The concert was amazing. If anyone is in two minds about going or not then just go for it. I was a bit pissed off that we got a smaller exhibition than everywhere else. No helmets, no Boba Fett and a lot of other stuff was nowhere to be found. But i did notice that many of the props were not ones used in the movies and were quickly made castings. But it was still great to get pics of everything (just uploaded a load to my facebook page).  The concert itself was great. It was almost like listening to the soundtrack at times because the orchestra was that good. Now unfortunately the OT clips used are still the same as the 2004 colouring, but..... TPM looked amazing. It was a brilliant transfer. No more pink tint and the colours were so good and not oversaturated like most  of the other saga clips, although the colours in ANH did look much closer to the '97 transfer and not overly blue especially in the Death Star corridors. They weren't the oversaturated blue in the 2004 transfer but closer to grey colouring. Most noticeably in the conference room scenes where the walls were grey and the skin tones were perfect. New Yoda looked great and a lot better rendered than he does in AOTC. The transfer looked so clean and not the dirty transfer that we have been use to. But it didn't look like it had been scrubbed of all grain with DNR. If this is the transfer we get when it finally comes to Blu-Ray then i will be happy. The colours just looked so right.  It's such a pity they couldn't have spent the same amount of care with the OT

So did they fix that issue with the right side of the screen fading in and out every so often?

Nice pics on FB btw... Tell me you got a shot of the Blastech A-295!!! XD They didn't have that at our concert!

Nice one!

I've been thinking two-dimensional overlooking the Z-axis. But so did three ISD-captains pursuing the Falcon in its escape from Hoth. What were our Imperial space strategists thinking in that situation?

Strategy in that case would to be use superior numbers to box in the Falcon since Vader wanted them alive... While the fighter limit the Falcon's escape avenues, Star Destroyers move in to lock on with tractor beams to attempt to take the ship. In doing this however the Falcon's superior maneuverability index caused what is now referred to in Imperial Academy text holos as "The Incident at Anoat" in which two Star Destroyers collided into each other. XD

I would have use ion cannons in conjunction with turbolasers but that's me... However, since the Falcon was seconds away from the asteroid field I imagine (making excuses for...) that disabling engines as a ship enters an asteroid field would not be condusive for taking a ship alive as it would probably get smashed to bits by stray rocks.

The improvement on the shots of the Imperial Fleet approaching Hoth is astonishing and gorgeous! It makes the 2004 DVD look like good old VHS. Actually the quality of the 2004 DVD makes me believe Lucasfilm were trying to hide some weaknesses. However 1979 and 2010 cannot be compared in technical terms. Now that we have solved the technical weaknesses let's get down to some weaknesses of the shot in general. :-)

The Imperial fleet is approaching an unfriendly planet and everyone should have received the command: "battlestations". (except people commanded by Ozzel)
If that command had been given the star destroyers would not be that close to each other. Actually the shot looks like the Executor is doing a RAS (Replenishment at sea) with two star destoyers which endangers half of the fleet. When doing a RAS ships are most vulnerable as fire could hit and destroy all of them (http://www.marine.de/fileserving/PortalFiles/02DB070000000001/W26MUAG9296INFODE/EGV+BERLIN+beim+RAS_05_640.jpg ). Any RAS has the potential of a disaster, it's never a routine. The Executor has actually no reason to approach an unfriendly planet that close to friendly ships as it decreases the maneuverability of the flagship Executor!

If the Imperial fleet is on an attack mission they wouldn't be close together but instead far apart from each other! In the shot Lucasfilm established they are too close together. One, two, three shots of an ion cannon could do maximum damage as the ion cannon could fire at almost the same coordinates without major adjustment!

Ask yourself the question: If you were an Admiral where would you place your ships - Executor and 6 ISDs - if you know where the Rebel base is located?
I would position all those ISDs apart from each other leaving a corridor of destruction for all Rebel ships that will try to escape from Hoth.

That would render Episode 6 unnecessary, I guess. ;-)

Don't forget that the Imperials were just supposed to look like they were passing through the system so they wouldn't be flying in any form of battle formation. This tactic was screwed up when Admiral Ozzel came out of lightspeed close to the planet to surprise the rebels. I see no problem with the formation of the ships in that shot

Unless you're a full blown military strategist for a space battle, for the casual veiwer of ESB that approach formation doesn't matter (other than looking really cool =D).

However, you should also note that, unlike ships in formation on a ocean which can only follow a X/Y-axis on a Cartesian coordinate system, in space you also have the Z-axis in which ships can break "up" or "down" relative to position (as their is no real "up" or "down" in space) to evade enemy fire as well as roll their ships to expose a shielded side to incoming fire if shields have collapsed on the opposite side..

Also recall that the Hoth System has an asteroid field near by "with all the asteroid activity in this sector it's going to be hard to detect approaching ships" and the ensuing asteroid field chase... This also means that hyperspace routes in and out of the system are extremely limited as well. So spreading out the fleet could only take place after they have jumped into the system. Furthermore to concentrate a opening formation directly toward a possible hostile planet (Admiral Ozzel was skeptical there Rebels were even there after all) meant that they were over confident to begin with. It's also likely that the Empire didn't expect the Rebels to have a KDY 150-v Planet Defender Class ion cannon and thus spread their net thin for their "catch of the day".

Any other questions class? =D

A clue to what? I don't get it.

I've never said i was doing this alone. I have 1 guy doing CG work, another for a CG creature shot, the guy who was doing the CG Hoth terrain for the speeder cockpit flyovers  has gone AWOL so it looks like i need to find someone who can produce high quality snowscape terrain, and then there is Rogue leader and his second unit for some live action shots, and that's it.  A bigger team than it was for Episode 4 but not as big as it's going to need to be for Eps 6 onward.  I've only been going on abut my kitchen because there really isn't much to report about the edit as things were halted while the work was done

Those are really amazing mock ups but two things:

#1 The planet Geonosis with an asteroid ring around a blue atmosphere. I think the idea was to have the scape look more like Mars which have rich iron deposits so the Geonosians were using it's planet's raw metals that are plentiful for the creation of heaps of battle droids.

#2 The Geronosians would need to be a dark bluish color rather than brownish red because evolution wise it would be a form of their natural adaptive camouflage especially if it's an insect species... Biologically speaking...

This is something they never asked me about yet use it as an example in the film of how "nit-picky" i am with my edit. If they had bothered asking then i would have given them a logical explanation ( the fact that i had extended that shot so would have had to slow the creatures down, which didn't work and the fact that they look stupid turning around to watch the landspeeder) . It will be interesting to see how they twisted my interview to make me look like some obsessed fan with too much time on his hands. Has anyone seen this movie yet? I think Star Wars should be completely devoid of any transparent, floating, 3D projection computer interfaces.  I cannot stress how much I HATE those things.  It seems like every science fiction movie that's come out in the last decade just falls back on that concept, with no attempt at originality.  I'll take a computer like Mother from Alien over any TF3DPCI (like my new acronym?) any day of the week... at least it felt like a real computer.

I don't know if Ady can do anything to remove/tone down some of those floating GUIs in the prequels, but I'd cringe if one found its way into the OT.  As far as I'm concerned, holographic technology in the Star Wars universe should be limited to visual projections only (i.e., recordings, schematics) not user interfaces like in the above picture.

I think they're kinda cool but unnecessary... It would take away from what's going on during the movie and would clutter the frame. In real life I would love to have on of those Tony Stark computer on the window-like touch interfaces but for ESB it's not needed. Very nice render though.
