Alright, I give in. Paint me orange with a yellow corona.

But I warn you guys, if Hayden Panettiere refuses to give me head for this, there'll be hell to pay!

My SO saw Miss Panettiere in a bar just last month. I exclaimed, "why didn't you ask her to come back here with you?!" My SO thought it an unrealistic request.

New York?
Time

I've been to the City a good many times, never stayed at a hotel there though. My SO is from there, but she only replied, "New Jersey." And that's clearly not a good idea (sorry, Warbler). Looking at expedia, there are hotels in decent parts of Manhattan for as low as $150/night in October (granted the rooms look budgety). I could offer some idea about various neighborhoods if you are considering any particular ones.

You could always go upstate, pick apples and such ;)

Info: 50% Star Wars Toy (not lego) Coupon at Target this week
Time

xhonzi said:

You might have gotten a bunch of Easter coupons with your Target ad this week.  One of them is for 50% off a non-lego Star Wars toy.

If you don't have the coupon, they might have some at the store, or you can text EASTER to TARGET and get the coupon on your phone.

I got a couple of the normally $35 ultimate fx lightsabres for my kids for $15 each.

That is cool, tempting.

Anyone enter the contest for a life-sized GL-signed Darth Maul statue? :p

The Prequels as Envisioned by the (Pre-PT) Expanded Universe

Argh! Lucas you stupid head, you ruined it.

What would've been cool if the jedi all wore armour similar to Darth Vader's armour.

Seeing something like this makes it feel like GL pulled his punches. This would have been very cool and effective visual. Luke's RToJ attire would have harkened back to the classic Jedi look.

I've been having a feeling that the PT should have had somewhat radical color grading. Not the very old technicolor look, but it suggests what I have in mind. Someone made a podrace mockup as if created in the 70s, it was just so much better! It couldn't be so extreme to be distracting and gimmicky, but I think it could be effective to embrace the essence of a prequel, as historical, to give it that feel.

Confession Of A French Troll (Definitive OP + ban suggestion).

I still think ABC deserves the banhammer.  But Warbler's reaction is no better and I can see why he previously had a ban himself.

Jesus... walkingdork is right.  I'm just never going to bother with a thread that ABC, Warb, or possibly anybody not named TV's Frink posts in.

I don't really blame Warbler. I'm not sure if you saw the edits to the first post, constantly trying more ways to antagonize Warbler. I thought Frink had it perfectly right in his first post in this thread (when the title was pointlessly and stupidly aimed at Warbler): "Terrible thread idea and you know it, ABC."

I thought the thread would just die.

And I agree Warbler just needs to ignore this stuff. On the other hand, he doesn't want people constantly mocking him. It's just really uncalled for. Maybe if he ignored such people, they would stop mocking him - and that just shows how immature and abusive such people are being, they do it in order to upset him.

And I agree with everything CP3S has said here. You do stir the pot, walkingdork. Harassment of another member deserves no defense.

Obviously the powers that be decide when a ban is merited. I feel a ban is a good idea when a member drags down us down into this and breeds hostility. This is markedly different from poking fun. Most of us recognize the difference.

Dumb. If I were not averse to visual and audio depictions of myself, I would make a "Leave Warbler Alone" video.

Every time Warbler expresses his frustration and sensitivity, there is a minority who wants to keep poking at him.

Elvis had it right, to a point, when he sang:

A little less conversation, a little more action please
All this aggravation ain't satisfactioning me
A little more bite and a little less bark
A little less fight and a little more spark
Close your mouth and open up your heart

Well put, captainsolo, and nice to meet you!

Bingowings, I like the independence movements, the idea of preserving regional cultures and local governance. I had superficial exposure to the Irish issue but have forgotten why the UK held on so desperately (perhaps to not encourage you Scots?). I'm silently rooting for the Québécois, Kurds, Irish, et al. What is the downside of being British?

And who is this Frink character?

Also, would be cool to see your Bowie picture, Ziggy!

Hi georgec, impressive you know how many movies you have seen. I keep hearing about Blade Runner, but it's not familiar to me, even after googling it. I should probably watch it! I was definitely into the EU stuff pre-PT. Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina, Timothy Zahn, etc. In the real life, I'm the quiet guy, have a dry sense of humor, trying to commit to where I'm headed. I like to think everything turns out for the best. I joke I have an Indiana Jones Complex, always seeming to prevail at the last moment, whether running to trains or planes or with more important things.

I also spend too much time on the internet. I've recently started reading Sherlock Holmes stories.

TV's Frink, nobody has put my brow more often askew than you.

Hello, Bingowings. I must admit I've only recently started connecting your posts to your name/avatar. I gather you are British?

Good to meet you, Duracell. I do notice you most often in the Rewrite threads. That's a project I keep going back to, starting again, rethinking it. I need to forge ahead with it! I vaguely remember your old avatar(s?), what was it? Do you get to make movies now?

Hello. I am Mrebo. Nice to meet you all. This actually is my first introduction after unceremoniously arriving here. I regret only taking a passing notice of some of you (and otherwise being a bit disconnected), so it is a great time to finally meet. And I just discovered that I joined this forum one year ago tomorrow, so that makes the timing even more ideal.

What are your Star Wars interests? In which forums do you post most often? How long have you been here? What else should I know about you?

The petition was a big part of what drew me here. I also enjoy the editing community's efforts and thoroughly enjoyed Adywan's vision. I've since had the pleasure of witnessing Harmy's great work. Also zombie's insights have been awesome. This is the best place to enjoy my Star Wars habit. Any other suggestions?

Thank you, I look forward to meeting you.

SW:TOR MMORPG Free this weekend!
Time

:(

You can get a week trial pass if you know someone who has a subscription.

It was a lot more fun than I expected. The Sith story line was engaging. Not worthy of a novel or anything, but fun for a game. There are so many visual elements and EU lore that just don't make sense, so if you're a purist you have to super-suspend disbelief.

The game world felt overly restrictive, no room to explore as everything was constricted to paths. The story likewise keeps you on a narrow track, though compensates by providing a semblance of choice. I made some choices I'm not entirely proud of...

Combat was fun, I played about 4 different classes and they all felt powerful and were able to heal themselves up quickly between battles. There was no death penalty I could discern, except having to go back to camp if you die too much in a short period of time. Nice change from other games.

I have little interest in continually paying for a game, but maybe if I were more enthused about the current state of Star Wars (or more into gaming) I would.

In light of the "Plagueis" novel, how would you rewrite the prequels? *SPOILERS*
Time

Most of us wish to start fresh, ignoring virtually the PT and EU sources. Only EU books I've read in the past...many many years...were the Bane series and they were a gift. It sounds like this Plagueis novel was quite enjoyable for you. How would you see it providing much fodder for Episodes I-III, since it's a prequel to the prequels? Maybe it was a more interesting story to tell?

Originally, Sifo-Dyas was called Sido-Dyas...

I once read or watched something that claimed it was an intentional change because Sido-Dyas seemed too obvious and that the Jedi should (at least) be able to unravel a simple word game.

Do you feel that the novel provides a more interesting and relevant backstory to Episodes IV-VI?

Who needs SOPA when your ISP will do the work for the government?
Time

Obviously ISPs have the ability to look at our surfing habits - but it should be prohibited by law, with the usual necessary and reasonable exceptions.

Imagine phone companies cutting off phone service if they got wind of the fact that we were calling a known drug dealer. Like phone companies, the ISP should do no more than blindly connect us to the ip address we 'call.' We do not need a 'friendly' notice that we should stop contacting a certain kind of person. Additionally, ISPs are not competent to decide whether material falls under fair use. ISPs should assume that our access is permissible. If a rights holder wants to file suit or the government wants to prosecute, that's the responsibility of those parties. The ISPs must be afraid of being sued themselves.
