Personally that version of Rey’s theme mixed with Ben’s light side theme that plays when Rey’s resurrected is one of my favorite pieces of music across the entire film, so I’d leave it as it is. The actual kiss could be rescored, though.
Yeah, I’d leave everything the same other than the scene changes I’ve made and the rescore after Rey says “Ben”, then have a second silence and the add the build up the first crescendo across the stars but only use a few seconds before fading to Poe in X-wing celebration.
It works, it’s nice BUT I’m still split on it just remaining Padme’s song.
But then the whole of TROS didn’t stick to the rules I.e. Yoda’s theme with Luke, Leia & Luke theme with Lando & Jannah etc
I don’t think Across the Stars needs to be used. It’s just Anakin and Padmé’s love theme, not a general one. However I think you could place it in the scene where Ben resurrects Rey and it would work well. Mostly because Anakin and Padmé’s relationship was torn apart by Anakin trying to save her. Now Ben literally brings someone back from the dead, so it might be a nice way to tie the prequels together as well. I don’t think that’s necessary though.

Absolutely!!! I’ve smashed the Duel so hard with editing exactly to the soundtrack that it’s one of my highlights now.

Ok, I’ve had a lot of people trying to guess what tracks I’m using throughout TROS and Across the Stars keeps coming up.
So, should I use it over Kylo & Rey’s kiss?
It’ll be short but it’ll work if people want me to do it…

Also helps add the Emperor feel, by way of vader. Maybe its one of Palpatines professed voices/visions he gave Ben.
Edit- Could do it in Force Awakens since they’re already on that planet, or intro to ROS when Ben is searching for wave finder, before going to Mustafar

I’m currently redoing all my edits as I’ve learnt so much this year. Did them in low res and stereo but I’m working in 1080p and 5.1 but I’m thinking of redoing SOLO, TLJ and TFA in 4k. I’ll let you know when I’ve updated them that scene.

I like the scene where Chewie supposedly dies, I just don’t like that it was a cheap fakeout! However, it’s a little beyond the scope of this project to just remove. Now, we see Rey sense Chewie’s alive, and see him a bit later when the crew rescue him. Damn, it’d be good to have that Kylo Chewie scene to work with.
I think another added benefit of removing Chewy’s “death” and the force tug of war is that it removes Rey’s Sith lightning. Isn’t she OP enough?? Her learned heritage and desire to kill Palpatine is enough to sway her to the dark side.
I cut the tug of war but if you cut the lightening then you’ll need to cut the following Rey chat with Finn and Chewies rescue?

I still think the opening restructure should be like how Dominic had it. I also wouldn’t move Finn, Poe and Chewie’s game of chess at the end. Also, I just realized we’re on Page 154. Jeez!
I really liked the game of chess at the end for Hal’s cut. It was very creative and showed them all traveling together at the end.

I just watched Doomcocks’ video and that’s ten minutes of my life I’m never getting back. I know it’s somewhat hypocritical sharing this on a fan edit message board but this guy is clearly incredibly bias and needs to accept the fact that Rey Skywalker is canon and will be forever. This video has about as much credibility as something Mike Zeroh would produce with an extra dash of misogyny. For more reliable star wars news I would suggest sticking with the star wars leaks reddit, Youtube is full of trash.

Personally, I would remove Leia’s line, “Rey. Never be afraid of who you are.”

It’s too bad footage had to be reversed in order to get enough room. I think finding some alternate source for a choir belting out those notes, maybe with a little less gusto, would help make it feel diagetic to that moment.
I agree though, it’s a natural idea for that moment.
If you didn’t like the reverse extra footage you can always add the choir to Rey’s entrance to Exagol? I first added it their but I thought it made a bigger impact at the sacrifice moment.
@jkimm, If you cut it that heavy you’ll miss the “never underestimate a droid” line. If you use a cut away to bb8 you can still keep that line of dialogue.

The way I’ve used it is to have the acapella intro and stretched the scene by having the Sith stand up (first shot in reverse), pan to wideshot and then sit back down. It works great for that segment.
