Some things vary. I've seen grade schools start up at end of August. Here, it's the second day after US Labor Day (first Monday in September), and gets out the Thursday following the 21st of June.

The schools I went to, were divided into grades 3 different ways:

K-6 / 7-9 / 10-12
K-5 / 6-8 / 9-12
K-4 / 5-8 / 9-12

I wouldn't suppose there's not any place that divides K-5 6-9 10-12. XD or something weird like that.

The line between "college" and "university" is rather blurry here, too...

What I wouldn't do for that kind of money... I watch most stuff on my computer's 17" monitor and $20 speakers or on my 13" monitor with a built-in mono speaker... lol... I've only really recently thought there was anything bad about my archives being mostly first-generation EP tapes from VHS... ^^;;;

Well, they're not really VCDs (they're AVI; VCDs are MPG) but they fit on a CD - which was entirely by accident. XD

What matters to me - is just that they work correctly, and they're good quality. XD I'm glad you liked them.

I would suppose the one your computer has now... I have DHCP set up, and DMZ to the IP of this computer, and it's never changed my IP, even through hard (i.e., yank the plug) resets.

I have a router so I can connect a 486 to the 'net on the side. I have my main computer DMZ'd so th at ALL ports are opened to it. BT works like a charm. ~.^

I do IVTC in Virtual Dub which is free (a hack, Virtual Dub Mod, can import VOB files).

Must be looking for 650 MB then.

All the files should fit. I didn't encode them with that in mind but they came out small enough.

Tip: Do it as a *data* CD; it will not fit if you make it a VCD. VCD is 70-80 minutes of MPEG-1 video (10 MB per minute, roughly).

Here's a Windows LAVC codec

I used mencoder on Linux to encode these; LAVC is its built-in codec (it can also use XviD).

You don't need LAVC to decode. DivX 5 will work fine; also, if you use FFDSHOW, you are already using the LAVC decoder.

A little warning:

1. I'm on a reasonable ADSL connection, but can't push faster than 46 K/s. My usual BT cap is 40 K/s.

2. I may lower my cap, if people need my bandwidth on IRC for my other files, although I will try to seed as fast as I can. See above.

3. My router is stupid; roughly once every 24 hours, it loses my connection. I have to unplug it and plug it back in. Undoubtedly this will at least once cause some minor problems on the torrent. Could be worse if I'm away when it happens. If you don't see any seeds, that's probably why.

4. I can't seed this forever. I'll try to make sure at least 5 seeds are on the torrent when I drop off.

I'm not used to seeding files of this size, though I have seeded larger (over 900 MB) files before.

These files were encoded using mencoder, which has a nice facility for treating DVDs as a series of tracks instead of a bunch of VOB files, and for equalizing the framerate during encoding. The codec is FFMPEG's libavcodec, aka "LAVC", in the mpeg-4 mode. It should play correctly with the DivX 5.x codec. I have not however tested this extensively, as I only really play video files in MPlayer (which mencoder is part of).

I've seen all the way through the other two AVIs I've done, they're quite good for their file size. XD

PG-13 is "Parents Strongly Cautioned" but anyone can still just walk into a PG-13 film.

R though, if you're not 17, you can't get in without a parent or legal guardian (they're supposed to proof too).
