Info: OT Bootleg DVDs
Time
If you have the xvid codec installed it will be under Video \ Compression. It decompresses the AC3 audio in mpeg-2 files so you'll prolly want to go to Streams \ Stream List, select the stream, right click and select Full Processing, then right click again and click Compression. Best codec I've used for audio is the Radium MP3 codec, because most of the LAME formats seem to be VBR.

Now, I use mencoder...

Using the '04 SE DVD version to restore the Original (with lots of info)
Time

I’ve done some experimentation on using the 2004 version of Star Wars and trying to come up with a semblance of the original form of the movie, granted this is with an xvid encode, and encoding it again doesn’t come out all that nice, I did the Greedo scene. It so happened on my source, that I could take and delete from the first keyframe after “I’ll bet you have” to the screen full of smoke, and it doesn’t seem all that bad. I also added the subtitles into the encode, though they don’t look like the originals… they still look pretty good (well, they are from the stylesheet I use to sub widescreen anime…)

Is it safe to post a link, or does it fall under the category of pirating the official DVD? (It’s only about 4.5 MB.)

It frees up so many limits. The Yoda fight kicked all ass. I love to death seeing that little guy fight. I felt like a kid again when I felt so full of life. Growing up with this character and then seeing him go out and show why he is the Jedi master was the absolute best. In my opinion seeing Yoda fight alone was worth the ticket price.

Looks like Astroturf...

Changes in 2004 DVDs
Time
My fansub group is CVME, which is mostly just me and some freelancers... - mostly I revise older subs (such as Animempeg's of Ebichu, and various subs of the Sailor Moon anime), though I've also finished up some scripts from another group I was in that vanished (CosPrayers ep.1), and have been working on some original material (Sailor Moon live-action and musicals) - my torrent of the Sailor Moon musical "Kakyuu-ouhi kourin" is doing quite well, well over 500 completed downloads...

Somewhere in between non-aligned and purist:

There were indeed improvements to the SEs, but the various changes that affected the storyline (e.g., Greedo shoots first) were not among them, and Jabba in ANH just did NOT work.

I think the OT as it was in 1977/80/83 should be released on DVD; and optionally, a cleaned-up version, but with no new stuff.
