I’m aware of a 1985 remix of Star Wars, were there also remixes of ESB and ROTJ in 1985?

Source footage: 1h 05m 45s

Combining the 3 pieces I've done so far and removing redundant footage*: 59m 43s

* I repeat part of the last scene in the next segment

Additional noticeable changes:

6. No damn midichlorians! Palpatine says "he could use the Force to create life" (jerky cut there, though)
7. Trimmed out as much as I could (not all unfortunately) of Obi-wan on the back of that damn lizard
8. Obi-wan only shoots Grievous once; I thought several shots was gratuitous

Still not sure what I want to do about the OPED. The working copies, warts and all, are 200 MB apiece and there are 3 of them.

That could work too, and would be easier to pull off with the tools I have.

I might try to make crawls for a recombined version (which would indeed be shorter than the actual movie).

For the record, would anyone be willing to help me with crawls for this? There's really nothing on Linux that I know of will generate them...and on XP I have memory and drivespace limitations :/

Also, as much as I've tried, I can't get every subep to open in space, so I might need some transitions or something, but I might release without opeds first, or as a compiled version...

My ISP's usenet feed has horrible retention and is useless for downloading stuff. It's only good for reading text messages like what groups.google.com archives.

ROTS just happens to be the only prequel I have at hand right now, as I don't have a VCR (for TPM) and my DVD of AOTC is hopelessly damaged, and I'll prolly have to download those.

I've made a few snips. This is really a pilot, it's not final product quality as I really can't pull that off, but I'm doing what I can.

I've left most of ROTS intact so far with only small cuts - I'm right now working on the water-ballet scene - someone else here can probably edit better than I can. I might also stitch these back into a full length movie.

Current noticeable changes:

1. Anakin no longer mentions "vulture droids" (metaphor to earth that doesn't work)
2. Attack droids' cartooney dialogue reduced
3. Several close-up "beat" shots cut
4. References to "democracy" removed, as the Republic is, well, a republic, not a democracy (factual error)
5. Some of the cornier dialogue between Anakin and Padmé has been cut

Also a couple pan shots were cut.

I’m going to try to pull this off, with Revenge of the Sith as my pilot project just because I have it at hand…

I’m taking the movies, primarily the prequels, and I’m going to try to cut them into a series of approx. 21-minute episodes, which will be somewhat abridged from their original form, but might include variant footage. When I have some of these cut I’ll make further note.

I know already I’ll be trimming down the Obi-wan/Grievous battle a bit in ROTS.

Yeah, it runs a little smoother and faster, I noticed (not having watched ROTS in aeons, well, since all there was was the Russian telecine and the workprint) that "Power, unlimited power" was reduced...and that part didn't work right anyway.

I believe the GOUT DVDs are progressive 24 fps already, or at least ANH's is, so all you need is crop/resize.

Rikter's covers are nice, admitted, though they scream bootleg in a way I don't really like - I kind-of prefer the idea of a simple restretched original cover, which is why I did this. xD

I've done similar stuff, but not with two completely different clips...

Did one that showed how accurate the animation of one scene in Betty Boop was, and did a couple others to check Pokemon episodes side-by-side, and one that compared the EditDroid Pre-ANH rollup to the 1981 rollup. Nothing big, really, and something that's done with a few StackHorizontals and StackVerticals...
