I know, right? I did what I felt was right, and while there’s the usual questions and comments, half of it is the greedy clique we had to go through to get the audio, raging because I slaughtered their golden goose. I was well informed what the situation was with the audio going into this - and I was warned that there would be a lot of butthurt, but I wasn’t exactly prepared for what I got. These guys don’t have two brain cells to rub together, even though some of them (like enigmo) definitely have humongous egos.

It’s just Z. There is some broadcast audio of the original Dragon Ball but not enough to make it worth trying to do anything with.

(ETA: That went over like a lead zeppelin. Can’t say I didn’t expect it, as I was warned that exactly that would happen, but still. What is it about the DBZ fandom?)

That is unfortunately the best I have, I don’t know if we have anything better.

Ardwight Chamberlain did a lot of work on dubs in the 80s and 90s.

I still have the original files (OT), but I don’t know where I’d upload it this time around.

…man, if any anime series needs a proper restoration, it’s DBZ. >_< I wonder how much of it survives on 16mm outside of Toei and Funi’s vaults.

Despecialization would be easier with all versions in true HD, and AFAICT, the 97 SE is the only one where we don’t have at least some sort of HD version.

It might be that the PAL ones are playing at NTSC speed (common for TV shows), in which case the Avisynth command qtgmc(“fast”).srestore(23.976) can usually IVTC that.

Not really either. I haven’t gone back to it because I’ve got a ton of other projects, but I don’t want to call it dead either. But you might as well consider it dead, since I probably won’t be going back to it anytime soon. 😦

I am hoping to return to it eventually.

I can’t imagine the files will last very long where they’re at before someone gets C&D’d into oblivion. Downloaded for safekeeping.

Well, in the early days there did exist computers that used 6, 7, 9 bit bytes until the 8-bit byte, 16-bit word, 32-bit double word became the norm (though I think the size of word and double word still vary).

Sounds like comparing the Failbook comments of my first two exes. The first writes in complete, coherent and mostly correctly spelled sentences, while the second writes all in lowercase, with tons of mistakes, and is a pain in the neck to read.

(The first also turns out to be a much nicer person, given the other subjected me to gaslighting some time ago. Sorry about the OT, had to rant.)
