CardCaptors Sakura: Restored Australian Cut? (* unfinished project *)
Time

Turned out 11's preview was on a UK DVD, so that's dealt with.  12's done too.  On to 13... 15-16 won't have previews since they never aired dubbed outside of au/nz where the previews were not shown, and I don't cut previews together well. :/

After 17 I may wind up skipping ahead as there is currently no usable rip of certain eps, including 18, on account of every version being sourced from the same broken mpegs.

"Blue Water" Dragon Ball Z? (* unfinished project *)

Current status...going nowhere fast.  I do, however, have a complete list of clips for the OPED, so when I have the footage, I can rebuild them.  The source for R1/4:3 108/109 said he'd finish uploading the DVD with them but he's currently uploading another DVD for someone else, I think as part of a trade.  These are quite rare. :/

I've drawn some interest because the files are much higher quality than anything else out there - hopefully it'll help me get what I need!

I've checked one of two fye stores in the area, and all they had was the Orange Bricks (16:9 set).  :/

An MP4 I uploaded to MegaLoad a couple days ago still has the cigarette in his mouth, but further releases will remove it, as seen on the TV rip I have.

The reason it is ep.110(125) ("Goku's Ordeal", an ep I personally hate) that I have been working on is simply...I have no other 4:3/23.976 source for of 108(123) or later and therefore cannot produce a video track for any other episodes at this time.  (Still waiting on 108-109 and have no other source at this time.)

I made the following preview videos for this project.  Please note that this is unfinished, especially the recap video - I use what I've got.

* Audio Source: MP3 from AVI encode, from Dutch TV
* Video Source: loose vobbage provided from an early R1 DVD (which contained the Japanese recaps for episode 109=124 and 110=125 and part of 108=123, and the Funi dub's preview for 111=126).  This is why the title card on the first link is still in Japanese, rather than English, and will be fixed on the final encode.

Recap, from episode 110 (Goku's Ordeal)
Next episode preview, same episode

I'll probably only post small clips and screencaps directly to the forum from here on in.  Remember - this dub has not been and almost certainly will never be released on video, so the audio is taken ENTIRELY from captures of TV broadcasts.  Some of these are very old and worn-out.

These videos are VOBs; they aren't unprocessed, I did an inverse telecine on both of them.

Got someone uploading me vobbage of 123-125 (108-110, corresponding to the first 3 eps of the Ocean dub) from an early (4:3) Funimation R1.  That'll get me off the ground nicely from a video perspective.

The first edition I do will have a slightly inaccurate OP and wrong ED because I don't have the source to do them properly.  (OP will have the Saban footage, making it only about 95% accurate.  ED will have the Saban footage, making it only about 50% accurate.  The audio will be correct.)  I will keep enough raw material around to fix it when the vobbage I need for the oped shows up.

Wanted: Anybody have the ac3 5.1 audio rips of the special edition laserdiscs from 1997?

I think so but it is on one of the audio channels in mono most likely and analog.

Why it was not on the japan dvd i assumed it was.

A friend acquired the R2 and sent me a dvdiso - it's definitely the Disney dub.  Very strange.  I've been looking for the original dub for years.

Well here now i brought the thread completely off topic, lol.

xD; My bad.

I dunno.  It just went HD (5 episodes later than Japan), so...but at least all of Advanced (seasons 6-9 here) and the last ca. 10 eps of Master Quest animated digitally and might not be possible to render to any higher than 480p.

Work on CardCaptors is going to start getting patchy.  The audio for the ep.11 preview is distorted (I may simply redo the preview so it doesn't involve voice samples from the episode).  I run out of R4s at episode 15 (the last ep released on DVD in Australia), and then the sound quality of episodes not available on R1 DVD is going to go through the floor.  Every episode has been capped, but some rips have SERIOUS issues.  Hopefully another source will turn up (it'll require my friend in the UK who got me started on this project acquiring a PAL VCR).

Episode 11 itself is edited, and I might just churn forward and do the previews later before making the release files.

Episodes 1-9 are done, including an alternate version of 7.  So I'll prolly do the various "mashed" episodes, when I get that far, and attach the US OPEDs to them, as I did with the alternate 7 (the additional footage, where possible, is actually re-edited; the OP, apart from 3 CG shots, and the New Card, apart from the CG bookends, are re-edited as well.)

I'm about a quarter done with the main episode body of 10, and Kero's Corner's done.  When this ep is done, I'll up another torrent on my tracker.  I still have to make the dvdiso for 1-5, though.

I'll probably omit previews for episodes not on R1 if I can't find one of sufficient quality on the Canadian TV rips.  Some of these rips are...questionable. In particular, 14-16 prolly won't have previews, and will start directly with Catch You Catch Me.  Episode 18, "A Fair to Remember", is the first of the questionable episodes - I currently have no usable copy of these episodes because the Canadian rips are broken and all available rips are derived from them.  For 18, however, Kero's Corner, at least, is intact.  Most episodes 25-46 will be fine.

Idea: Pokemon - a preservation project? I'm serious...
Time

I got eps. 1-7 and movie 10 with subtitles.  Thanks to the fact that I've been hemorrhaging translators the last 3 years that's all I got. :/

As for mov.1 - I got a copy of the dvd burned off somewhere - it's 5.1 both languages.  Could be doable.

Episode 18 has never been released on home video in any language other than Japanese and possibly some other East Asian language (Chinese, Korean, etc.) - we're lucky it even got broadcast stateside.  35 (Dratini), 38 (Porygon), 252 (Jynx)?  There are rumors of all three eps having been dubbed, of 35 and 252 even hitting airwaves in out-of-the-way places, but no one's coughed up a shred of evidence that they have, and until they have, as far as I'm concerned, no English dub exists.

All the movies, except #1, are definitely available OAR with English in Europe.  In Japan 1-3 come with dual audio (2 is a bit of a noobjob and 3 is an alternate cut); 4-5 have issues that make DA impossible (4 is a radically different cut, 5 just has one big cut right at the beginning).  After that it's easy enough to synch them up (I've done 6-10).

I've got various projects going related to Pokémon myself (I'm trying to fansub it but keep having translators walk on me; I'm also trying to improve on the DVDs).  Actually, the R1 DVDs are better than VHS quality. (They do seem a bit more compressed than the R1 singles, though, which I'm trying to acquire.)  The season 2 (Orange Islands) and 5 sets are crammed.

Now, as for edits - there's not a lot of edits until you get to Johto League Champions.

R2s?  I wish!  I think everyone's trying to find R2s of Pokémon but there really aren't any.  A few eps were released shorn of their opening and closing on special DVDs but otherwise you're only likely to find eps. 119-138, 207 and 245 of the original series on R2.  In many cases, the R1 is in fact the best quality video out there.  Depressing, isn't it? :(

The second and third series have better DVD coverage but almost the whole thing is rental only.  A friend of mine has been collecting them from secondhand sources.  They're not exactly easy to come by.
