Duel of the Fates (* unfinished project *)

Incredible. The look makes the digital world real. The clips get to the heart of the emotion the way good trailers do. As much as I liked the PT (with qualms), I always loved the trailers better.

The backwards chronology of the trailer is intriguing. The story almost works better that way. Maybe not "better", but with more sophistication. Is that going to stay?

This has vast potential. I can't wait to get the big picture.

To go from your ROTJ edit to this so fast feels too good to be true.

Return of the Jedi - The Spence Final Cut (Released)

I got the whole thing and I can preview in VLC media player- but when I go to burn, file VTS_11_2.VOB keeps crashing my computer.

It's my computer, I'm sure-- but it's KILLING me.  I don't want to watch it on my computer!

Does this problem suggest a fix from anyone?

If not, I'll probably re-download on the big Mac and see if it burns for me over there.

Return of the Jedi - The Spence Final Cut (Released)

I'm setting myself a screening tonight or tomorrow where I can really sit and enjoy this like the premiere I have been waiting for all these years--

But I couldn't help peeking at the opening-- what a great start.

Also I previewed the tutorial-- really clear, professional stuff. Can't wait to get to that either.

Very impressive, Spence.

This is fascinating! The images are way beyond what I expected when I read the first post-- seeing them makes me think "this has to be done!"

So question: What can you tell us about the bookends? Aside from obviously creating the best prequel story you can, the bookends seem key. They need a little magic of their own.

Mentioning the "intermission" makes me think of Lawrence of Arabia. I always loved the bookends of that film-- especially the opening title sequence. Maybe some inspiration there? It would be great if the bookends could seem like new scenes.

A funny thing about Lucas' reasoning behind changing the name of Episode VI.

He said he chose "Return of the Jedi" over "Revenge of the Jedi" after realizing the Jedi didn't really have something to get revenge for.

Then he used that word for Episode III, "Revenge of the Sith".

But that movie (Episode III) is a laundry list of things for which the Jedi could get revenge --while (unless I missed it) it never really explains what "revenge" the Sith are seeking.

It seems a better case could be made for the titles to be reversed-- "Ep. 3: Return of the Sith" and "Ep. 6: Revenge of the Jedi".

While I think Lucas also feels revenge is not something a Jedi master should consider worthy of his attention, I sure wish he'd stuck with that original title.

It just seemed appropriate. With the final shots arriving for the completion of this project, it feels like the first time I saw that poster... the promise that the Saga is coming to an awesome climax and I'm gonna be there to see it, Day 1.

I remember walking into a comic store in Seattle that had that advance poster before the name had been changed. It was the first thing I ever saw from Star Wars VI, and it never really got better than that.
