STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

I'm currently downloading the DVD9 PAL version via torrent, I know that there were some missing files with the usenet release, are these fixed with the complete iso I'm downloading?

EDIT; What exactly is the difference between the Revisited and Purist DVD9, I mean, which custom scenes have been excised from the Purist Edition? And is the Purist Edition also colour-corrected and have the FX been updated (lightsabers, Millenium Falcon's engines, etc...)?

Also, is there a DVD9 PAL Purist Edition? I can't find one anywhere :(

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

Well those last couple of ROTJ screenies aren't the greatest, but I think the other screenshots are quite nice.

Also, I know that Adywan is using the 97SE LD AC3 track as a basis for this project, but how about the 70mm 6 track? Has that thing ever been captured digitally and uploaded here?

And would it be possible to have a sample of the LD surround track? I actually own the Definitive Collector's OT box, the 95 "Faces" LDs and the 97 Special Edition OT box, all brand spanking new. Problem is I don't have a LD player, I wanted to buy one of those Pioneer X0 or X9 ones, and I found a Japanese seller but they were over $2000 and I didn't have the money back then. I don't think I'll ever be able to play my Star Wars LaserDiscs. So it'd be great if the 5.1 soundtrack was uploaded somewhere for me to listen to :)

I believe some efforts are being made to match the original dialogue.

Yes I know he's rearranging the dialogue to match the original one (which I prefer), but I just love how he savours each each syllable, so hopefully Adywan will also restore this emphasis on the "T" sound :)

I don't know if Adywan has already started on the audio, but I always loved how Clive Reville's Emperor put more emphasis on the "T" in the words great and asset when he says "Yes, yes, he would be a great asset". Any chance of editing Ian's speech to match this?

It could also be due to an echo of the holo-communication.

Okay thanks!

Something I've always wanted to ask was if there's a difference (quality-wise) between the 97SE LD AC3 soundtrack and the 2004 DVD one? I know about some of the swapped channels and muted music in the 2004 version, but I also heard that the LD version has greated dynamic range? If so, wouldn't it be better to use this instead?

Oh okay, so if I get this straight, Adywan is planning on two versions for each film? One is a colour-corrected 1080p version, the other is colour-corrected AND edited AND at least 720p, right?

Sorry about asking this again, but It's a bit confusing which version is which ;)

I'm currently in the process of reading through this entire thread, and I'm only on page 157 :(

I think they just mention Adywan, but I thought you only did Revisited editions. So what source did you use for these versions, are they from an actual HDTV broadcast because I don't know of any HD transfers of either the theatrical or SE editions.

Anyway, like I said before, thanks for doing this I really appreciate all the work you've done so far!

EDIT: Also, could you perhaps put up a few comparison screencaps of both the German and British HDTV sources that you're using for this project? I've never seen them and I hear they're quite good, especially the German one :)

And are you using the AC3 soundtrack from the LD for this project or the 2004 DVDs?

Wobbly helmet was later fixed in a surprise move, so no worries there.

You are correct on the sources, but due to low quality sources of new material and it would take forever to render on any machine, Ady is working on it in 720p, which will be the final product as well.

Okay, thanks for the reply.

So I take it that he downloaded the German and British HDTV broadcasts in 1080p and then downsampled them to 720p to work with that?

Also, I know that the German HDTV broadcast is the best looking followed by the British SkyTV one, but does anyone have some sort of comparison shots? I'd really like to see how much better it is.

Hi, I recently came across these fan edits and I love the work you've done so far. Going through this topic there are a few proposed changes that I think might best be left untouched or done differently.

For example the wobbly helmet on Darth Vader, you started out with the intent to get rid of the wobbliness and then you decided not to do it. I hope that you reconsider and stop this wobbliness, or at least tone it down.

Also, am I correct in assuming that you're using the German HDTV version as source material for this project, in conjunction with the British SkyTV version (for English text)? Will the final version be 1080p?

Anyway, thanks for doing this and keep up the good work :)
