Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

Hi Harmy, I've been following this project for quite some time now and it looks really great!

But I'm a bit confused with all the different versions that are mentioned on these forums. I understand that the Partly Despecialized versions are the old ones, and the Despecialized versions are meant to supplant them and are in 720p. But for Star Wars DE you're now up to v1.2 so does this mean that your Empire Strikes Back De and Return of the Jedi DE will also be updated once more?

Could you perhaps give me a simple oversight of your definitive versions for the OT trilogy?

Cheers :)

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

After discovering about the next series of unnecessary SE additions to the blu-rays, I've decided to cancel my pre-order and donate the amount to this project.

I was only really interested in the deleted scenes anyway.

This is the last time Lucas screws me with another half-arsed attempt to cash in on what was a moment of movie brilliance.

Ady, I'd stay away from the Blu-ray forums if I were you. They might draw too much attention to this project from Lucasfilm, and you certainly don't need that.

If they can't appreciate what you're doing with these projects, too bad for them :)

Cheers

I think the flash/glow as the sabers are in contact with each other is a PT addition to the sabers that they actually got right and improved them. But all the other changes to the sabers like removing the flickering, giving them pointed ends & making them too sharp ruined the PT sabers.

Plus, the PT lightsabers no longer have that crackling sound when they clash!

Also, for the ESB:R blu-ray, will you be using the new 6.1 DTS-HD MA track as a basis for it?

Provided it no longer suffers from swapped channels/muted audio like the DVDs. I really hope that this will be the best Star Wars track ever, apart from a few audio changes like restoring Boba Fett's original voice :)

This latest version has his right eye so dark it seems like he's got a black eye, and that smile (in my opinion) doesn't belong there.

Although this whole thing is now academic, since Ady has said he's happy with this clip and is done with it, I just wanted to reply to this. Regarding the "black eye", yeah, I guess upon comparing both images, the shadow over the Emperor's left eye (our right) does seem more pronounced in the newer clip. However, it's just showing what was already there. Having brightened the image may, therefore, be questionable to some, but it does bring it visually more in line with the other holograms in the saga.

As for the Emperor not smiling...

what movie are you watching? ;)

I never said he doesn't smile, I also never said that the smile looks fake, I merely said that I think he shouldn't smile in that particular scene.

This isn't open for discussion, this is just my opinion on this scene. I think it looked fine before with Ady's previous version. If you don't agree than fine, but this isn't some theory you can (dis-)prove or not.

Every single page of this thread is filled with people saying they don't like or do like some change Ady has made. It's his edit, but if everyone else here can make 500 word posts about some change they want pushed through then I don't see why I can't make a comment on something I disagree with.

Sorry to backtrack to this topic again Ady, but it's just that I think your version of the holo scene (received for a donation) was damn near perfect.

As always, it's your edit, but I just wanted to clarify that I never complained about your first edit of this epic scene.

So you're just complaining about his finished version instead? Nice.

Coming from someone who can't make a post without a frame-by-frame breakdown to discuss every single minute thing they want changed :)

I just happen to think his previous version was near perfect, and also to say that I wasn't complaining about it being too static.

The smile was a nod to the original Emperor who smiles at the exact same point.

I've given up on this video. No matter what i do there will be complaints. First the face is too static and that the original emperors face is more emotive, then i add the smile at the same point as the original Emperors smile and some motion to the face, then the face needs to remain more emotionless.

So that's it. No more videos. I'm spending so much time going back over videos i have posted trying to please everyone that i'm wasting time that could be spend on other scenes. When i get to the point that i'm pleased with a shot, i should stop there. I'm never going to please everyone and things just then get bogged down.

I'm pretty sure that some people thing i can perform impossible things. You have to remember that i can only work with what i have available with existing footage, etc. The only way i could do the emperor any better now would be to pay Ian to reprise his role in this scene and get him to wear a prosthetic that matches his ROTJ one. But we all know that this is never going to happen.
