Yeah, everyone knows it's supposed to be ...twice as gooder...
Yeah, everyone knows it's supposed to be ...twice as gooder...
Looks like we'll be getting the same crappy transfers that they used for the 2004 DVDs, with messed up colours and lightsabers :(
Merry Christmas everyone!
Yeah thanks Doubleofive :)
On a wee side note, I got my copy of "The Making of the Empire Strikes Back" hardcover today!
I don't know, he's changed his mind before you know :)
Ady, is this flipped/expanded shot still in:

Ady I think (not sure) you mentioned that you will reuse the same shot that piet says "yes my lord" in the tractor beam shot because when Piet says for the first time Yes my lord its from an other shot and the officers and the BG is not match.
So i have to ask if this is true. Logically you will replace the background from vader too in the close ups because its the same/flipped from the hoth scenes
Also when piet later says "alert all commands" will you replace its BG to be next to vader because he clearly talking to the crew in the pit of the bridge?
Its pitty tho that the officers are from needa's SD. i remember 005 brillianty discovered the patterns of the pits between the SDs and the Executor.
What are your plans about shot reuses and BG replacements?

Which leads me to this shot:
Is this amalgamation still in ESB:R?
I'm glad that you're keeping the Executor shot as it is Adywan, though one suggestion I am in favor of is this shot:
It doesn't detract from the asteroid hitting the Star Destroyer's bridge, and it does show the Executor's underside a bit better.

Lord Grievous, you realize that rebel is not under the ship, right? He's nowhere near it.
Yes I know he's not actually under the ship, but in order to clarify which of the many rebel pilots from that screenshot I was talking about I was being more literal than is appropriate :)
Personally I think that moving the transports a bit further back, enough so the rebel pilot's head doesn't touch the underside of the ship, would make it appear more realistic in terms of scale.
I don't think that at that distance you could really make out individual people under the ship.
EDIT: will we still see some X-Wings fly overhead? Possible out of the hangar?
I know I'm a bit late with this, but I really like this shot:
Although I think that the transports should be moved a bit further back to enhance the scale.
Damn, that's the first I hear about Kershner's death, RIP Irvin.
Never noticed that before, hopefully Ady will fix this :)
No they're not, the Bespin escape clip for instance is a 720p TS stream with no black bars and it plays perfectly on my widescreen monitor. I've noticed that some of the Facebook clips are stretched, but I think that's because of some other reason. If you play a 720p or 1080p clip with no black bars on a widescreen monitor it will create the bars itself.
But if the bars are already part of the image it will still create them and thus you have two sets of black bars surrounding your image, which makes the image look even smaller.
Ady, when you release the ESB:R AVCHD, will it already have those black matte bars in the image? I hope not because all it does it make the actual image smaller. Some of the clips you've released have it (like the ESB:R trailer) while others don't (like the Bespin escape).

Everyone be sure and correct Lord Grievous on every stupid little spelling mistake he makes from now on. ;)
Yes, quite :)
Quiet not quite.

Looking at it alongside that scan, it really makes the scale seem waaaaaaaaaaay off. :p
I was just thinking the same thing. If that's a transport ship it couldn't carry more than your average shopping trolly :)
Hopefully Adywan will fix the scale in this scene.

I still prefer the idea that it's a forming star.
Thats the problem when similar things are lookalike.
dont forget the sunrise sunset debate ;)

But isn't that the whole point of what makes a good movie. It enables the audience to interpret things their own way instead of having everything spelled out for them (like the bloody PT)
I'm not going to be changing the way it looks. I've loved that star ever since 1980. Some things just don't need to be changed.
Plus, it puts the star back in Star Wars :)
Adywan, I know you're very busy with ESB:R but is there any chance you'll do a basic colour corrected 1080p RotJ with Sebastian Shaw's ghost?
It would give us the ability to watch RotJ in HD and with good colour until either RotJ:R or the blu-rays arrive.
I think Vaderios' mockup is probably the best choice. I don't want to see an exploding star or some other super spectacle to draw attention away from the characters.
Ady, how are the models and props coming along?
Yeah, Mace Windu being able to pummel a super tank with his bare fists is just like in the movies.
Crappy anime is crappy
Yeah, I think it would be a perfect replacement since the cockpit is the same so it can be superimposed onto the original cockpit.
