If I can find 5+ minutes of good 3PO dialogue I’ll give it a shot!
If I can find 5+ minutes of good 3PO dialogue I’ll give it a shot!
Would you be willing to slot in “Captain Hux” at some point, Hal? It’s not that what we currently have isn’t natural sounding, but there is a bit of audio popping/distortion between the two words.
What if instead of Poe delivering all of the report we had Leia do most of it? Not sure how this would work exactly, but it may be worth a try.
EDIT: Scrap that, there doesn’t appear to be enough visual material.
I actually think it’s “they paid for your protection” that sounds a little off. Mostly because the second line sounds like Adam so much. The line delivery I was going for was more of something that he is saying aloud to himself after realizing the irony of what he just said.
EDIT: After listening a few more times, both sound fine. Not sure if I’m just convincing myself of that or what lol.
The TFA lines + Disney Infinity lines is about 10 minutes of content. Here is what the program says about this: “Sample quality is more important than quantity. Noisy samples may give bad results. Providing more than 5 minutes of audio in total brings little improvement.”
Eh, using all of those made little improvement. I’m not sure what it is. Probably the fact that he isn’t using a conversational voice in hardly any of his lines.
Ah, it’s because he doesn’t even voice his character in Battlefront!
I’ve sourced all of my previous work from the Lego game already (minus Leia, that was 2 and a half hours of Carrie reading her book). I’ll drop in the 5 minutes from battlefront now.
Bad news everyone: a lot of the Poe lines have a comm filter placed over them, and he’s using a shouty voice in like 90% of them, too. I used only the ones that didn’t have the filter, and the results are pretty subar. Definitely not passable for a monologue. If anybody knows where I can get more content of Oscar Isaac, please let me know. It would need to have no background noise or other people speaking.
Here are 3 more “become” line options. I shortened it to just “we’ve become a dyad in the Force”, so you could sandwich it between What “Palpatine doesn’t know is…” and “Rey”. Or you can simply edit out the “dyad in the Force” part with Audacity.
Option 1 (kinda crap): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1T4dov0e3mAEU-FqizUDpGZHA2EEeHwap/view?usp=sharing
Option 2 (decent): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ossG8GEGG-oIlOkxcuHQj9Lm4Lxn7BK5/view?usp=sharing
Option 3 (This is my preference because you can hear Adam’s voice very clearly under the mask): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1K7mkjHw2Avt7GpQX6RxFe8I_HjVFGrR4/view?usp=sharing
I’ve heard people trying to replicate Alec Guinness on YouTube. It never sounds 100% right.
I think the problem with a lot of people’s clones is that they use audio with background noise or poor mic quality. Either that, or they don’t use enough samples. Unfortunately, older actors have voices that fall under all three of these categories.
The best replications by far use ebook readings, podcast samples, or video game voice lines ripped from the game files.
I can try variations of “we’ve become”, the trouble is finding a variation of it that matches the surrounding dialogue on both sides (which could take countless tries). What about just: “we’ve become a dyad in the Force”? That way I know how he is speaking leading up to the line.
Alright, here are the Kylo lines:

Like I said before, Rey’s line after he speaks should be reinstated.
As for the “You were right”, “What Palpatine doesn’t know is we’ve become a dyad in the Force, Rey”, and “Captain Hux” lines, did those sound close to you, Hal?
I might not be able to generate Poe lines until this weekend because I have to manually string together all of his audio lines from the Lego TFA files into one large file.
So, Hal’s intention in removing “they sold you to protect you” was to imply that Rey’s parents instead paid for her to be hidden. Here’s a suitable replacement for that line:
https://youtu.be/QPWSB-_sSo4 (EDIT: New clip with improved wording)
Keep in mind that for this to be executed properly, we’d have to reinstate Rey saying “Stop talking!” after he says the final part of his new line. So the flow of the lines isn’t perfect because we’re actually missing a beat.
I’ve had trouble locating a clear audio sampling of Mark Hamill. For obvious reasons, he didn’t voice his character in Lego TFA.
Does Poe sound good using that?
I can work on a Poe model if needed. What did you have in mind for him to say?
Pro tip: you don’t. It just requires credit card information because you get the 5 dollar plan free for the first month. You just cancel next month’s payment as soon as you “purchase” the free month.
Yup, that’s the one. Also, here’s one reading of Sherlock’s altered line (I also have another one that delivers it a bit different):

And here is a possible Captain Hux for earlier in the film:

From what I’m imagining, this could be used for a lot more lines. Such as “we’ve become a dyad in the Force”. Or maybe Kylo can say something after “We’ll kill him. Together…” And also for Rey Nobody it could be very helpful.
Here are two line delivery options:

The second one is very similar to poppa’s delivery.
The future is now! Hal, for your consideration, here is an updated version of the “you were right” line fully synthesized using only Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren lines:

I think that’s just unfortunately a side effect of the source material - her reading a book. Not a lot of opportunity to be whispering there. I think the first clip I posted managed to get her to somewhat whisper due to the way the AI had her deliver the line. But after regenerating other lines a bunch of times I haven’t been able to get a similar effect.
I think I actually prefer the original delivery but here’s the other one:
Yup, “this lightsaber belongs to you now” is definitely better. I’ll try that out.
Here is a draft of the line I mentioned in my last post:
