Hi all!

Oojason, did you have any luck getting hold of the DVD-R of Balance of the Force? I really can't wait to get hold of it and see what Episode 1 really should have been like!

I just don't want to be another in a long list of people bothering Rikter. Let me know if you were/are successful.

I very much doubt that the people who have downloaded the ROTJ DVD will not be buying it when it comes out. I would say that the majority of them have already pre-ordered it.

Out of interest, how long did it take for you to download it?

The problem is that there are still muppets out there who fall for these marketing ploys. Luke with disgruntled expression variant, Leia with ankle bracelet, Han Solo with 'Shoots first' gun!

I agree that the best way to get into the vintage market, which Hasbro clearly want a piece of, is to make vintage style figures of characters that were not released at the time (Tarkin, Leia in Bikini etc), whilst still be sympathetic to collectors.

Hasbro - we do not need more Lukes, or Han's! If they just read the forums once in a while they would realise this!

There are several versions of the film with different audio tracks and very minor alterations. i am sure they have been discussed on here at some point, if not someone of the web will have listed them, have a search around.

If you want to know how many releases there have been on video and dvd etc, take a look at this site

I must admit I didn't like many of the obvious changes.

But I was happy with the minor changes:

The 'push in' on the establishing shot of the Sandcrawler.
The tilt down from the colourful sky as R2 enters the canyon.
Correcting the colour of the sky as Luke and C3P0 talk about R2 missing.

Oh, and some of the Death Star battle stuff wasn't bad.

Yeah, I have visited toy fairs etc. But loose cardbacks are fairly hard to find as lots of people just have them sitting in their loft or they were thrown out altogther.

I have made a quick site of my cardbacks here

If any of you find any - let me know. I am willing to pay good prices.

I am currently seeking video/TV clips of Vintage Toys. I have all of the Kenner commercials, but I am now looking for any other vintage toy related footage.

In particular, any of the Palitoy adverts aired in the 80s.

I am willing to buy/trade.

There must be a way to do it. Perhaps those people that offer it for download used a video out from there PC onto VHS tape, and then with a capture card, captured it back.

Dinky made a series of die cast metal scale vehicles years ago.

Yeah, I have managed to find some sites selling repro capes but I would really like to make some myself.

I know we all refer to them as 'Vinyl' capes but there must be a particular plastics name for the material.

Hmm...

P.S My Uncle buried his Dinky toys in air tight containers in his aunties garden, somewhere in Dartford. Oh the pain!

Has anybody here had any success in finding a material that matches the old Vintage Vinyl capes? I have several Hoth Stormtroopers and the odd Darth Vader that are in prefect condition except for a torn or missing cape.

I have been collecting for nearly 10 years and have never come across suitable plastic sheeting. It must be out there somewhere!
