TV shows will turn SW into Star Trek and it will wear on everyone to the point where it will disappear altogether and be just a shadow of the greatness that SW once was.....

You can't really say that without seeing any of the finished product. Lucas intends for the show to be filmed like a movie, then broken up into little 1 hour segments. From that standpoint, I think it will be fine.

Boba Fett in Star Wars TV Series?

I'd be all for a Dash Rendar film or television show, as long as it was Shadows of the Empire. Having the OT characters CGI interact with him at a minimal rate would be excellent. Furthering the stories of IG88, Bossk and the like would be wonderful. I'm not big on the EU or characters in the Star Wars games, but I completely enjoyed SOTE.

If there is a Boba Fett television show, there must be atleast one episode in which Vader is on hand and Boba Fett disinegrates someone. Thus the importance Vader puts on this later.

The thing that worries me about a television show is that it took them almost a year in post-production for the effects of the films. If the show is lacking in the least when it comes to SFX, the fans won't watch.

Lucas admits that he didn't know if he would have Padme die during child birth or shortly after. He knew she was to die, but not exactly when. But you can't really go by the scripts, only what is in the films, because the scripts themselves sometimes contradict the OT.

People that have a problem w/the Droids in PT
Time

I’ve heard alot of people complain that Lucas just threw them in there to appease the fans and to try to tie the two trilogies together. However, I was reading through the Making of… book for ROTS and came upon something I had forgotten.

R2D2 has to be in every film, atleast, to maintain George Lucas’s original vision. The Journal of the Whills is the story recorded by The Whills as R2D2 tells it to him, hundreds of years later. The opening title card, “A long time ago…” is basically R2D2 starting the story. I know the whole ‘recounting’ of the story idea was dropped, but having R2 in all the films seems alittle more thought out than just throwing him in their for little to no reason.

So can we agree that gripe is bunk, or not?

By the way, how much was the whole production of Episode III? I'm just curious because a film like Terminator 2 was around 100 million to make and that was over 10 years ago!

I saw on CNN it made 14.4 million this weekend, third at the box office, and like 331 million world wide.

Crazy.

No, I'm saying they released the OT to make sure they had funds to complete ROTS. They wouldn't have had the people to work on remastering the OT, because everyone was behind schedule on getting the massive amounts of digital shots done for ROTS. Terminator was made for 100 million but I'm sure didn't have 1/10th the digital shots that ROTS had and was shot in 'the real world' meaning they could just walk onto an LA street and start shooting.

I saw it at a newer theater in Valley View, Ohio. It wasn't a lack of clarity or color, or the sound for that matter. I just expected it to be leaps and bounds over 35mm, which it wasn't. I own an old, single screen cinema and I have and old Simplex 35mm projector. With it properly configured, the only significant difference I noticed between the DLP and the 35mm was the lack of burn marks. That's it.

I just want to adjust the contrast and the blue (black) input levels and then put it back on his dvd (fresh burn). Can anyone help?

I do know that there is now a few DVD's of the MagnoliaFan Edits floating around that have been converted from the XVIDS that I made and put up on myspleen.net; another fan mailed me a copy of one of them and it had (I tossed it already) no menu and random chapter stops + NON-anamorphic with 2.0 audio - The colors are WAY screwed and the contrast is to bright.

Sound like yours?

I dunno, were you distributing them? You sent these to me about a year ago. They've always been like this, bleached out to the point I have to turn the brightness all the way down. They have menus and 5.1 sound. So, if you sent out some bum copies like this, then yes.

No, I've heard about the XVID to DVD conversions but I don't see a need for them as I have the DVD - but I've not heard of this before on any of the DVD's I've sent out and being digital there is no way for them to degrade in a way that would affect color...

I can send you a copy back if you don't believe me. I still have the emails you sent me before I got them off of you.

Fix the lightsabers (Poster participation)
Time
Well, until I upgrade to Adobe 7.0, the ANH fixes are on hold. However, I am half way through fixing this scene in ROTJ that annoys the bloody hell out of me. Luke's saber in ROTJ is the way it's supposed to look. It has that contrast and sharpness that the PT eventually shows. The green saber in ROTJ is wonderfully done. Except, when quality control take a nap and the refuse to notice the missing of the white core. So, without having to fix the glow on Luke's saber, all it needs is a white core and Viola! Vader's saber, on the other hand, still dances from pink to red. A couple of places will need color corrected, but in the cross scene, it looks fine when the core is added. A few screen caps for ya.

There is a timeline at the bottom of most pages telling you what is going on 'outside the huddle' at the same time as what is going on in EPIII. The cost of the digital shots and reshoots was climbing each day as they went on with the film.

The more I read the ROTS Making of Book, the more I get the impression that the OT DVD release was a money thing, nothing more, nothing less.

If anything is changed on these DVDs in the fall, I bet they correct some of the audio problems, but that's about it. Everything else, you'll have to wait for the next batch.

Yes, it would have made more sense for Dooku to have killed Sifo, and then order the clones under his guise. As the book goes, Sifo orders the clones himself, Dooku finds out, and then kills him.

Why on Earth Sifo would do this, and without the Council's knowledge, and where did he get his money? Stupid.

Perhaps he was under the influence.

Why Kill Padme?
Time
Because it makes the film better. This was to be the last of his Star Wars films, and rather than just putting out the 'filler' film to bridge the two, he went all out in trying to make the best film possible. The birth of evil/death of hope is beautifully intercut, making this film stand on it's own.

I don't understand the point of these lines. Vader wasn't surprised that Ben was alive in ANH. Furthermore, he thought Ben was dead and gone for good in ESB. "Obi-wan can no longer help him."

Well, for believability sake. If Vader didn't believe Obi-Wan was dead, wouldn't it be a priority to kill the only Jedi left alive who had and possibly could defeat you in the future?

But the second group of lines I did, I like much better.

Time
I agree, but the point is to not include Padme, because to preserve the suprise of ESB, the two character must be believed to be seperate. Anakin is not Vader and Vader is not Anakin, until of course, it is revealed to us later on. The reason I have him say Obi-Wan Kenobi, is for two reasons. 1)There is source material and 2) because it is a formal reference, not "Where is Obi-Wan". Much like Maul's goal is to kill the Jedi, to reveal themselves and have their revenge, this new apprentice, Lord Vader is hear to wipe out the remaining Jedi. As Obi-Wan said, Vader helped the Emperor hunt down and kill the Jedi.

That dialogue is far from the finished idea, it's just a 'predraft' of what I would do to get you seeing what I am thinking. All previous Vader references are removed and replaced with 'Skywalker' or 'young 'Skywalker'.

"My New Apprentice, Lord Vader can you hear me. "
"Yes, my master. Where is Obi-Wan Kenobi?"
"You have done well, Lord Vader."
"I can sense his presence"
"Patience. In time he will seek you out.."
"What is thy bidding, my Master?"
"Rise!"

Then have Vader bust off of the table, but instead of showing him reaching up and screaming as the final shot, just cut to Palps face smiling and laughing.

There, is that better? All of that dialogue is in the following films.

After seeing ROTS again, I believe it can effectively be done....ending Anakin's onscreen presense with his metal hand reaching out and clawing at the rocks, then cutting to the shot of the shuttle passing over the rocks. That ends Mustafar. You can even leave the Vader scene in (if you removed all previous Vader references) by starting his scene with the mask coming down (not showing Anakin's face) and then change Palps and Vaders lines to
"My New Apprentice, Lord Vader can you hear me. "
"Yes, my master"
"Rise!"
"Where is Obi-Wan Kenobi?"
"It seems, you killed him"
"Good"

All using lines from the film and subsequent films. Scene ends with Vader facing Palps still strapped to the table and Palps cackle can be heard right before the cut.

Or something like that.
