I don’t know what such footage would be. Boot into an old OS on an external drive, download stuff other people did and then drag and tuck it into a video editor that was end-of-life’d a decade ago.
I think that clip works surprisingly well, Sherlock. Where did you draw those extra couple lines from for Rey?
MR, I’ll thank you to avoid using autism as a slur. And Testing, I think things have run their course in this thread for you. Why not save it and leave a review of V2 someday? You aren’t contributing, and keeping people away from the thread who would.
And while I think the idea from DOTF of R2 recounting their adventures to a ‘clean install’ 3PO would have been much preferred to what we got, I don’t feel attempting to recreate or imply this with what we have available would be better than leaving it alone.
That’s a good observation, about that scene playing into Leia somehow knowing Rey’s parentage. I’m not sure removing it would help the film’s overly fast pacing, though, as you’d have to smash from “We must find Exegol” to the Falcon’s fuel thing being uncoupled in closeup.
That little scene does establish that Rey is following Luke’s journal which is important to understand.
Even without the idea that Leia “knows,” the scene shows Leia’s misgivings about the darkness and/or inexperience that Rey senses within herself and fears.
And while I appreciate the work, I feel the scene as it is in V1 works better in the order it is. Just two bordering establishing shots of the Falcon.
And, if anything, I’d prefer to imply 3PO never regains his memory other than R2 verbally bringing him up to speed. I don’t think invoking prequel memories would be advisable or possible to pull off.
I was rewatching some clips from V1, and something stood out to me right at the end - when it goes from Rey’s Theme to the End Credit fanfare, it’s like there’s an extra note in there or something? So rather than hitting the end credits immediately, it’s almost like it hiccups a wee bit? Am I imagining it?
I’m afraid I’ll need a clip of you humming it for us to know what you mean. 😉
“The Dark Side of the Force is a pathway to many natural abilities some consider to be unnatural.”
Jiminy Cricket, what was the alternate language track that was made for V1? I can’t remember who did it or what language it was. Sounds awful, but I wanted to make sure to have a note for myself to reach out once things are ‘sync locked’ to maybe have that ready to just include in the final V2.
I might end up just putting out a nice-enough workprint if it looks like it’ll be a while to actually have all the finished pieces.
I would certainly hope to release it by TROS’ 2 year anniversary but it just depends. I will release it as soon as I get what’s needed and can compile it.
As much as I’d like for everything in these edits to feel smooth for people who have seen these movies many times, the only sensible target is a hypothetical audience of moviegoers in a parallel universe where this was being projected overhead on opening night.
I feel like both of those work well enough now to no longer be a question of whether to use them or not. I really don’t feel like it would have stood out to anybody who didn’t know that it was being messed with.
I’d actually already removed the two instances of the dagger triggering memories of her parents as well as the idea that it was their murder weapon. It is more straightforward now since we need the dagger’s gimmick to be that it will lead to the… other plot device, via the Sith whispers.
And it somehow doesn’t seem right to have Kylo mutter about Chewie at the transport. At the very least it would lack the ability to contrive the sort of beat such a line of dialogue would require in a movie like this.
Bail tells Obi-Wan and Yoda about the coded retreat message from the Jedi Temple ordering all Jedi to return because the war is over.
Obi-Wan says, “Well, then we must go back!”
Yoda and Bail stare at him for a moment, incredulous at his apparent stupidity.
One from me, too. That’s rough.
What was the process for that scene? Did you do any stitching of multiple sources or clean up a single source?
It’s probably a good sign I can’t tell.
I was a little worried for a second to see a long-ish post from you starting with “I just checked it out and…”. lol
Well yeah, that’s the idea.
Wow, that was interesting. I don’t hate it. Could imagine it playing over the crawl.
I care less about adding Sith eyes than removing the milky eyes. But I’ll welcome both.
TAS V7 has been reissued with only this audio tweak having been changed. Going up now to the usual places.
We currently have completed:
Still needed are:
Fixed version now available through the usual channels, replacing the faulty upload from earlier in the week. Thanks, Burbin!
Also Sprach Zarathustra.
The three-note horn comes in during the ALTAIAGFFA title card, the the dramatic blast as the SW logo appears.
Add a bunch of random alien characters to the rebel alliance in ESB.
EDIT: Add Nien Nunb to ANH and ESB during their respective battle sequences as someone standing around the base making noises.
