I wonder what a deepfake would look like for that.
I wonder what a deepfake would look like for that.
Will do. It’s a tough call!
Right before the Death Star blows up, show stormtroopers and other enlisted men looking at family photos with tears in their eyes.
Oooooh, gotcha. Well, if you want to wait I can try to decide whether to go with yours or Dat’s.
Very kind of you. How you mean “to match the 97SE,” though?
I really like both your and Dat’s current Alderaan explosions. Straight from using the 97SE to an embarrassment of riches.
I don’t loathe the Praxis ring, but what I don’t like is that every major explosion of a planetoid object in the OTSE has it. To me, one is fine but multiple gets weird. And personally, I feel the original Death Star explosion is the one to keep, since I’d feel a little weird going from the SE Battle of Yavin to the original explosion, though its probably just from conditioning.
It’s a little bit awesome to have two people at once working on impressive replacements for the Alderaan explosion (that don’t have Praxis rings). Just one bit of feedback comparing yours, Dat’s, the OOT, and the SE: I think your explosion goes too far from the planet too fast. The other three, the explosion hangs more tightly to the planet body. Yours looks fine the way it is, I am just zooming way in to pick nits and vet.
What bbghost said. No one can ask more of you than that. If you can export what you’ve got so far that would be greatly appreciated.
He’s like a machine.

You’d like Q2’s edit.
In TLJ as Kylo runs at Luke to land a killing blow, Luke dodges it Matrix-style and sidesteps before retracting his saber again and vanishing.
EDIT: I mean, may as well, right? Same diff?

The explosion of the planet seems to shift to the right mysteriously. Like part of it exploded to the right and then that part becomes the focus. I don’t know if that makes sense.
I think I favor Dat_SW_Guy’s version at the moment. This version of the explosion reads as Alderaan dissolving into an explosion already in progress while Dat’s looks more like the object itself is beginning to explode (albeit very quickly, as in the original film).
If MR gets them to where he’s happy with them and gets me the clips, but he’s technologically out of commission right now. If he can’t though, it’s something I’m considering “welcome but not necessary.”
I can’t tell anything wrong with it.
Looks good from what I can tell from a still image. Although there isn’t a lot of motion to worry about, so I’m sure it looks equally good in motion.
As the death star prepares to fire on Alderaan, edit in real world footage of violent atrocities being committed on the planet’s surface in order to make it more understandable that the empire would want to destroy them.
I would not want to change the title. I think all three titles for the sequel trilogy fit their respective films pretty well. With the prequel‘s, this was much less the case, and I inherited a tradition of people retitling the movies left and right.
I would prefer to avoid bringing Leia‘s knowledge into things. This way it can still comport with future expanded universe stuff, and avoid the issue altogether.
I know for certain I’d love to have that Alderaan explosion, but I’ll wait until you finish your project. Shaping up to have a ton of cool stuff.
The carbon freezing chamber score dropping out at that moment seems to be a deliberate creative decision, and I think I prefer it the way it is in the movie. Although, I can’t say I was aware of that before today!
I think generally when they decide to leave out score in the final mix, I agree with them. But thank you for compiling these!
Works pretty well, though!
I did try to replace Burning Homestead but just couldn’t make it work. It sounds like it would be easy, but the sync is off and I can’t replace the saber foley with the same specific sounds, which I’d want to do.
