I don’t have access at the moment to look over the kewlfish footage for the cave sequence, but prior color banding isn’t apparent in it, but seems to be when encoding down. I guess it’s just bound to happen when crunching down to distribution form factors.
The ProRes output (HQ format due to these issues) is also available, so feel free to experiment with it.

Also, now V2 has been fully reissued and, at least for right now, 100% finished and distributed!

In seriousness, I don’t think this suddenly cracks the earth open and forces a huge rethink of everything. If anything, just some of the 3PO dialogue related to his memory. It doesn’t seem like suddenly we’d be able to pull off R2 having to just recount their history to him or anything quite like that.

Well, if poppasketti does want to tweak it, I can sit on it and have it in place for any future revisions. You never know if there’ll be a V3 someday. As it is, it really doesn’t look like anything that would have seemed out of place if it had always been that way.

I really do not notice anything at all off in the color of the TIE, and have begun encoding video. But if poppasketti wishes to revise it at all, that’s fine. Just please let me know soon, as I have everything else about ready.

I really enjoyed watching this, and I’d rank it about at the level of an average episode of Mando. I appreciate the restraint and/or budget that allows for non-explosive, smaller stakes stories like this. It’s just Boba Fett, Tatooine, and sand. There were a few instances of characters and things popping up I could have done without, the biggest being Max Rebo. These weren’t anything to get bent out of shape about, but I feel the show would be stronger for omitting them. But it was very pleasant to look at Morrison and I look forward to what comes next. Boba Fett never seemed to me like a terribly interesting character for sustained storytelling outside of miscellaneous bounty jobs. If the events of this series were told in the medium of a comic book I wouldn’t probably have even read a summary. But I’m glad to have this show to enjoy. Much like my thoughts about Rogue One, I’m happy to relax a sense of criticism on this one.

Seems odd for the Sarlacc to have a stormtrooper being digested, as Tatooine didn’t seem to have much of an Imperial presence outside of the search for the droids during ANH. I’m glad they handled the Sarlacc without showing the SE beak, that was nice.

I’d never fall asleep on Tatooine. Poor Luke must have had nightmares about a Machamp coming up out of the ground to get him.

That Rodian prisoner has such emotive, unmoving eyes. Another great instance of SW having the audience project emotion onto a motionless face.

One other tiny thing I’m adjusting for the V2 reissue is to tweak the single shot of Jakku to be a half step closer to how it looks in Starlight. 😉

Fleet sounds good to me! Just performed the grade again (just applying skenera’s LUTs to varying degrees). Just need to tweak the audio side of things a little more, hopefully tomorrow, and have Ash do new DTS encodes and then I should be good to re-render and reissue things for a fully complete V2.

I can imagine having up to 8 minutes of fun finding the right shot to replace the throne with in that vision, so consider it done.

Very much on that note, it looks like I’m going to totally have to redo the FCPX grading process, since relinking files is not working. Should take probably a good hour or so, so not a big deal. The danger is, of course, fixing my mistakes but then making new mistakes.

Very nice! Could you dial it up a little? Kylo’s is a little stylized and different than it looks onscreen. Doesn’t have to grab your full attention, but maybe a little stronger.

It will probably be at least a little while before I fix those errors, in order for all feedback to come in first, and to enjoy some Christmastime.
