I think that’d be fine, or perhaps in a future ‘month’ when we’re ready to dedicate time to it.
I think that’d be fine, or perhaps in a future ‘month’ when we’re ready to dedicate time to it.
I’d probably be able to put together a wish list of things I’d forgotten because it wouldn’t have been possible before. Specific things for specific reasons.
Exactly; it’d need to be efficient and targeted. Too bad it’s subscription based rather than a one-time purchase. Sounds uber-fun to play with.
Perhaps at some point we could workshop a specific queue of dialogue we would like for specific reasons from various characters, and queue up reference material. Then, chip in for a $200 month of access to Respeecher, and appoint someone with sufficient free time during that month to do the work.
I’ve long wondered what it would take to be able to wear someone else’s voice and do things like, for instance, ‘clone’ Jason Wingreen’s performance in ESB using Temeura Morrison’s voice.
I hope Boba’s final words on the show are, “Yep.”
PMed you.
Here’s what things sound like with some help from danieldubb, who gave each clip some treatment to hopefully sound more like they came from the same source. The same weaknesses are still here, but the question is whether this seems worthwhile overall to use in place of the 2004 dub.

With time, you will eventually see a piece of media depicting Grogu being trained by Rey Skywalker.
Wonderful!
Replace Fett’s ESB theme with the full, dramatic TBOBF theme music.
He steps out to accompany Vader after cornering them in Cloud City.
[HYEH DE DE DE…]
So Luke unequivocally knows now that R2 was his parents’. Must’ve been a mindfuck.
In flipping back through the episode to marvel at Shamook’s handiwork, I noticed that they transitioned from a shot of the casino/cantina burning to an establishing shot of Luke’s temple. (I don’t think it’s the same building that we see destroyed in TLJ, but still.)
And Mando’s new ship’s interior pulsing sound is similar to Grogu’s theme that plays when he’s with Luke.
When Han flicks his blaster’s switch under the table, he’s setting it to “obliterate.”
How many cameos will there be? Perhaps three, perhaps four?
I predict: Luke, Owen, Yoda, Qui-Gon, Anakin, Vader, Ashoka, Grogu, Boba Fett, Commander Cody, Captain Rex, Leia, Bail, Mon Mothma, General Dodana, R2-D2, C-3PO, Figrin Dan and/or the Modal Nodes, no fewer than four other Cantina characters, Jabba the Hutt, the Tusken tribe from TBOBF, Bib Fortuna, Duchess Satine, Palpatine and his son.
The hat wasn’t big enough.
I half-sarcastically said, “It’s a character!”
I was cheering, “Shamook!”
It’s like Mark Hamill is still with us today.
Hey, guys. It’s me, the real Yoda. ‘Sup?
Wrong movie, but giving him a… “more matured” voice or manner of speaking in AOTC would help a lot for his character.
I enlisted the help of danieldubb, and he’s been able to apply the right settings to make these sources cohere pretty well. I couldn’t get it 100% done right now, but I think it’ll be a big step up.
(not Ivan’s edit though, this guy’s version of that was actually good)
lol
I still think if they’d done that they’d never hear the end of the “Allahu Akbar” jokes.
Despite the straightforward logic of making Episode I as the first community focus month, I think this one is the most hashed out.
But so far it sounds like there could be some old, classic ideas resurrected and perhaps completed.
Wow, what a discussion! My intent with potentially changing that line was to “correct” an apparent implied story idea that appears to have been rejected by canon as things bore out following TLJ’s release. Not to flatten the story or make Ben seem worse. (Which is worse, slaughtering eight people and leading three to join Hitler’s SS or slaughtering eleven people?)
Also, consider the dramatic pause in the original versus this version:
“When I came to, the temple was burning. He’d vanished with a handful of my students…”
“Were the others okay?”
“… and slaughtered the rest.”
“No!”
Vs
“When I came to, the temple was burning. He’d vanished…”
“Was everyone okay?”
“…and slaughtered my students.”
“No!”

Also, how would people feel about clipping Poe and Rey “meeting” at the end? I imagine people won’t like the idea, but wanted to see, because they are a couple feet apart for a whole scene in TFA. When I see that moment it makes me think, “The movie is making a point that they have not met before” more than “Oh I bet this goes somewhere.” If anything, their friendship I feel is better served to not highlight that it started right when we would have last seen them by the time of TROS.
Let alone a “handful” of “a dozen.”
Does the editing sound good enough? I have to cut Luke off quickly after “vanished,” which originally lead right into “with….”
Yeah but this new line from Luke gives a more canon-accurate impression to the audience than the original. A few of Luke’s students pursue Ben and are also killed by him.
The original line seems to establish that the missing students were aligned with Ben and followed him, potentially forming the Knights of Ren or something.
Also, it would be easy to trim out Rey and Poe’s little meetcute at the end of the movie. They do appear like four feet away from each other at the end of TFA. I can’t remember if this was ever considered.
