Touché!
I’d add more blood, trailing as he falls. And getting on the floor, maybe dripping down the pit while Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon talk. Lightsabers might be able to cauterize a hand being cut off, but not someone being totally bisected like that. Maybe some organs come out.
What all do you infer from the Mando-verse to suggest this will end up being the orthodox understanding, over and against what TLJ depicts? (Ala retconning Ben’s slaughter of Luke’s students.)
What could be done in TLJ? Make their flagship… smaller? Spell this out in the crawl?
Have the crawl for TLJ state that there is a power vacuum now that the Republic and First Order have each been decimated, with Snoke launching assaults to claim as many important star systems as he can.
Add a small little Yoda type creature to this shot….

One thing that could help the ST as a whole would be making the First Order into more of an Imperial remnant who is hellbent on reclaiming the galaxy but isn’t really in a position to do so. They destroy the Republic capital, but that was basically the sum of their might. Once SKB is destroyed, it’s only the lack of the New Republic’s fleet that allows them to pose a threat. In TLJ, they would visually be downgraded in their firepower and shown to be fledging and even wounded due to the loss of their main base. In TROS, they’d be desperate for Palpatine’s old imperial fleet he stockpiled, because it’d give them a huge leg up.
The Phantom Menace - A decent title that evokes an important part of the film, and seems to imply its role as a sort of prologue or intro to a series. It doesn’t sound terribly interesting, though. If my fan edits had to stick with the original title for only one prequel film, it’d be this one.
Attack of the Clones - “‘Ats a horrible title!” Sounds dumb and doesn’t really reflect the film very well. Implies the clones are an enemy force that is invading. Perhaps my least favorite title. “The Clone War(s)” would’ve been much better.
Revenge of the Sith - I don’t like this title, because it doesn’t really get at the essence of the film. We don’t really know anything about the backstory of the Sith, so their revenge doesn’t seem compelling. It’s more about the fall of Anakin and/or the Republic. Seems like it is just there to rhyme with ROTJ or redeem the “revenge” that was dropped from that film’s title. I feel my edit’s “Labyrinth of Evil” (culled from a Luceno EU novel) fits better in getting at the heart of the film’s story.
A New Hope - It’s a very “meh” title. Not compelling, and only exists retroactively to a much better title of “STAR WARS.” It’s fine, and doesn’t put off a new audience with any proper nouns they wouldn’t know about.
The Empire Strikes Back - It’s pulpy, and it ropes audiences in with an inkling that this story will continue a story rather than recreate the original. “Splinter of the Mind’s Eye” could’ve worked as a title, but might have been too out-there. Very good title, though only partially gets at the film’s essence.
Return of the Jedi - One of the best titles, and one that has a dual meaning. Alludes to ‘Return of the King’ and does a good job only tipping off the ending a little bit. No complaints about this one. It gives the impression that the good guys win, but leaves it as a surprise that the bad guy gets redeemed.
The Force Awakens - Excelling title, both for the story and the film’s significance in the real world. Is even referenced in the next movie. Very good.
The Last Jedi - Another title very fitting for its movie and story. Gives a startling implication without lying, tantalizing.
The Rise of Skywalker - This title does capture the film’s gist somewhat, but in a way similar to “Finding Nemo” in that it tips a little too strongly the ending. It struck me as a confusing title going in, what it would mean. It made the final lines of the film, which would’ve been cheesy regardless of the film that built up to it, visible a mile away.
So out of the group, I’d pick ROTJ, TFA, and TLJ as my favorite titles, in that order.
I could sure go for an old fashioned trilogy of novels set post-ROTJ about our main heroes right about now.
Personally, I take the Darth Plagueis novel’s explanation.
I imagine one day once Luke knows the full story of the droids, he’ll again ask, “Ben, why didn’t you tell me?”
Yeah, Octorox, I’m with you. I admit that it would help continuity, but isn’t something I want to do. So I won’t! The current Hal9000 saga excuse is that Obi-Wan just doesn’t regard droids as anything special.
I do wonder if that was Lucas’ intent behind lines like “if droids could think” and “flying is for droids” in AOTC, to sort of account for his lack of recognition or care about R2 and 3PO showing up in ANH. That’s my read of it, anyway, even if it seems to have fallen by the wayside along with other things by the time of ROTS.
lol, I still wish I’d have chosen a more unique name back when I was 13.
PM sent
Can’t wait.

Deepfake Temeura Morrison over the mirror scene from Multiplicity and use this to depict after hours for the clone troopers.
Just wanted to say that as I’ve been watching the Bad Batch, I always feel slight disappointment not to hear your excellent musical opening after the helmet logo intro.
Would anyone with access to software to adjust speed of footage in a way that looks good be willing to try adjusting the speed at which the opening STAR WARS logo for ANH recedes from the camera in the 19SE version? I was able to contrive something when working from the 2011 version but it’d be better to use the 19SE. I can provide the footage and reference.
Hate to admit it, but it’d make a lot of sense for a Special Edition version that is revised to accommodate subsequent development of the story to trim the line, “I don’t seem to remember ever owning a droid.”
I wouldn’t want to take more than a cautious step or two down that slippery slope. But what would you all think about such a change?
(While thinking about people not recognizing R2, I’ll just say that in my headcanon Obi-Wan must recognize them but Yoda doesn’t. And that R2 and Yoda had never met, adjusting anything in TCW to fit that idea.)
Mmm, I suppose so.
^ Just sent you a PM.
We remember the good old stuff because the bad old stuff wasn’t worth remembering. But we see the good and bad new stuff both as it’s happening.
So old stuff is automatically better but only because the bad stuff got throwed away already.
His is a very familiar username and I too am saddened to hear the news. Sorry for your loss, and thank you for coming to let us know.
Here’s my ideas, only a few of which would be truly important:
Jake Lloyd saying he was repairing or fixing 3PO
3PO’s lines in 2 and 3 about flying
Maybe use it to truly make Padme sound like herself when in her queen persona (too much content in diverse soundscapes to work)
Maybe Obi-Wan addressing R2 in vague ways like “droid”
Anakin being referred to as “General” and stuff like that ala NFBisms’ ROTS project
Battle droids (and surfer dude Neimoidian) in first part of ROTS
Anakin expressing something about his son or kid having his lightsaber
Obi-Wan expressing hope that Anakin still can be saved, to Yoda, Padme, and to Anakin himself
Something to beef up the little conversation between Bail, Yoda, and Obi-Wan. Maybe Bail says something about taking Padme and Leia home with him and his wife, so the scene can be re-extended basically to its original length.
Don’t know where it’d fit, but some tiny nod from Old Ben to R2 that he recognizes him or knows what’s up.
Try getting a different performance for Boba Fett in ESB. I don’t know if cloning Wingreen’s performance would work, might just make him speak slowly rather than getting a vocal gravel like you’d want.
Probably don’t need a voice synthesizer for this, but give the tortured gonk droid a more robotic voice.
Han shouts to Jabba at the pit or Carkoon, calling him a son of a bitch.
Vader saying, “Your mother once thought as you do.” (Might be too humorous, as though Vader in his suit had an argument with his wife and just hit the road one day.)
Unmasked Vader/Anakin made to sound like Hayden.
Snoke could maybe say something at some point to foreshadow the retcon about him being a Palpatine proxy.
Something about the Hosnian system.
Poe calling Hux by name rather than “Hugs.”
Also replace Poe’s “big ass door” with something else that fits his mouth movements. Hate that line.
Give someone in TLJ a proper “bad feeling about this.”
Something from Kylo or Palpatine establishing that he’s a clone or in a clone body.
Something to establish that the Final Order is a modified imperial stockpile, maybe from Poe. Instead of being “the largest fleet the galaxy has ever known.”
Kylo’s “you were right.” And his “become a dyad” line. Or anything else to their effect if the tool gives us more freedom.
3PO’s memory wipe “oh my what is going on because you see I don’t know who you people are” dialogue replacements.
Anything with Leia in TROS.
Luke saying whatever is useful in TROS. I’m sure we’d think of something.
Anything with the Jedi voices to Rey.
