The Rise of Skywalker: Ascendant (Released)

The BluRay subtitles are updated and now available. A small tweak that doesn’t change the movie itself, just how the subtitles are presented if they are enabled. Each trilogy is a close match to the style of the burned-in, theatrical subtitles for alien dialogue. (The ST is not quite as close; it’s the right font and color, but I can’t make it more precise without creating a front from scratch.)

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

I know there’s better takes of the jango fett actor doing some of the boba fett lines from empire in the battlefront 2 game but what about lines like what if he doesn’t survive he’s worth a lot too me?

I feel I had reasonable success with partially replacing the 2004 Boba dialogue in ESB with video game clips.

“As you wish” sounds great, as I just time-stretched a good delivery from Bounty Hunter which itself seems to be styled after the original line delivery from Wintergreen.

“He’s no good to me dead,” is now, “He’s [not worth anything] to me dead.” It’s not 100% the same line, but I feel it has a little more grit to it.

“What if he doesn’t survive? He’s worth a lot to me,” is now, “What if he doesn’t survive? He’s [worth a fortune to me].” Again, an approximation of the original line but makes for a grittier delivery.

“Put Captain Solo in the cargo hold,” didn’t really have an obvious replacement, so it’s untouched beyond the same mild reprocessing the other 2004 bits have to fit in with the Bounty Hunter clips.

I found Battlefront clips had an added helmet effect too different from the 2004 ESB lines to be easily used.

Sounds good! Couple questions that get into minutia.

Since you removed Ben digging up the sabers, so we still get Reva saying that the reason she thinks he’ll come to rescue Leia is because he fought under Bail during the Clone Wars?

How do you handle Lola? Do we see her get broken, Leia demonstrates emotion toward her in the alleyway (and Ben softens his attitude toward her), and Ben fixes her?

The Brave Little Toaster (1987) 4K 35mm Film Scan! (WIP)

When I looked at the subtitles for what Octorox did, which were simple remuxed DVD subtitles, the moment when Kirby charges over the waterfall wasn’t timed well. It comes onscreen before we hear his cry, and it is unfortunate.

I almost deleted this because it’s so petty, but figured you may want to look at the subtitles and see if that moment in particular could be timed to perfection.

I want to invite anyone who wants… to adapt subtitles for any of my projects (prequels, originals, sequels, and Rogue One) into other languages. Right now most of them aside from Ascendant have just English, French, and Spanish. I can adjust sync, but without speaking the language it’s rather difficult to reliably get new languages onboard.

Why, you ask?

Because schorman13 kindly showed me how to create gorgeous PGS subtitles that closely mimic the format of the burned-in alien subtitles. It makes for a much more pleasant viewing experience if you use subtitles. I’m enamored with them and want to add them to my current projects.

The .sup format they use, however, can’t be added to the player (at least not VLC) and need to be muxed into the file itself. So, whatever interest anyone may have in adding a language to any of these, it’s better to do it now.

Feel free to respond here or PM me if you’re interested in doing so. Don’t wait until finished, as I’d like to be aware so I can wait if need be. I’ll post this in both TROS and COD’s threads.
