I have seen Star Wars Episodes 7, 8, and 9!
Time

They don’t follow the broad path of the EU, unless you want to interpret that very generously up to the point that the New Republic and Empire coexist somewhat for a while.

The design aesthetic evolves the classic ‘rebel’ and ‘Empire’ look for the most part. But much like the OT, we don’t really see much of the galaxy at large and hone in on areas where war is being waged.

No Thrawn! No Mara Jade! Luke isn’t shown to have a wife or children.

Now, I am going to be a bit coy and just try to answer your direct questions.

The original cast is largely back, with few exceptions. Reunions are bittersweet when they occur, although some of the characters are spread out from one another.

Luke has a baker’s dozen students, we find out.

The main bad guys are sort of an Imperial remnant that gets radicalized under the influence of a Palpatine(like) figure.

Greetings, people of 2009!

I know this forum used to have a strict rule against posting from parallel dimensions, so I hope posting from a different point in time doesn’t push the limits too much.

I don’t want to give away the whole show, but I am writing from the year 2022, and I have seen the real, no-foolin’ sequel trilogy. It actually got made, and not only have I seen it, but I’ve digested it over a few years.

So, here’s an AMA (or “Ask Me Anything”) to get a small glimpse into the future of Star Wars. I don’t want to reveal too much, but I can answer direct questions. You must have so many for me!

I only ask that my past self sit out the conversation to avoid time paradoxes.

Audio Mixes used for the 2019 SE release of the Original Trilogy - any issues?
Time

It seems to either literally be the 2011 mix or a tweaked version.

The biggest and most obvious issue to me is wildly inconsistent levels and feel to dialogue.

To pick one of many examples, take Luke’s line, “The Princess, she’s here?!”

In any mix from 77 to 97, it sounds just fine and fits in well with surrounding dialogue. But in 2004 and beyond it sticks out. It may sound a bit clearer or better on its own, but it is jarring in context of the scene.

Spence's Obi-Wan Kenobi (V4 Final Released)
Time

I ended up with some unexpected free time, but not free energy, so I thought I’d plop down and watch this all the way through.

Spence, you did a really good job with this. You included and excluded exactly the right stuff. The pacing was sublime, and I believe this is unqualified preferable to watching Kenobi as a series. Maybe LFL would’ve included several deleted scenes as bonus material or even released a 4-hour super extended cut. But this version really plays.

Is Bail Organa secretly an absolute idiot?
Time

I find this topic hilarious. And I agree totally.

He’s hopelessly naive or idealistic in a cartoony way. Pounding his fist gently while overlooking the amassed clone army at the end of AOTC. In Kenobi, he is flustered by a guest expressing indifference to slavery to the point his wife had to nudge him down.

He comes across as a real ivory tower, foolish character. And I love him.

What changes would you make to the Prequels?
Time

Obi-Wan Kenobi would already be a Jedi Knight when Episode I begins, and Yoda would never appear. Although Kenobi would sometimes brag about his former master in ways that Anakin, and the audience, would suspect as exaggeration. Yoda would be described as reclusive and mysterious, keeping out of the political arena, and hand-picking his students to invite to train on his hermit planet.

Anakin would be a teenager when he meets Kenobi, with the reason he’s reluctant to leave home having to do with his mother’s delicate help or desperate quality of life rather than his being a child. He would already have a relationship with Owen Lars by this point, who could be either a relative or close friend. Owen would be vocal about his disagreement on Anakin leaving, but equally vocal about looking after his mother.

We would get onscreen exposition and/or a flashback about Darth Bane and the line of succession about the rule of two. We’d also get some basic information about why the Sith are bad and why it matters that they may resurface.

The Clone War we see would be only the most recent of multiple clone—related conflicts, and the remaining Jedi would feel that allowing it to begin would be their downfall. The audience would be clued into a line of succession and planning, of which Palpatine is the culmination and continuation. The Clone Wars would be set in motion by the end of Episode I, with Episode II showing us Kenobi and Skywalker fighting together.

Toward the end of Episode III, Padme would travel with Leia on Alderaan and it’d be more convincing than what one can do via fan editing! Anakin’s fall to the dark side would not be predicated on saving her life, and would resemble Lucas’ ideas circa 1983.

3PO would be part of Padme’s ship compliment, and R2 would have been Anakin’s secret project. Not built, but rescued and souped up. Both their memories would be erased at the end of III. Kenobi would maintain a consistently dismissive attitude toward droids and would not place a comforting hand on 3PO on Mustafar, and never referring to either by name. R2 wouldn’t accompany Anakin during the Clone Wars, as Jedi don’t deal with droids at all.

There would be no virgin birth of Anakin. There can still be a prophecy, but it’d be kept controversial among Jedi and up to interpretation.

It would not be uncommon for Jedi to have families, and there would be no celibacy requirement. One may still need to pass tests and train, but if one is capable one can follow in their parent’s footsteps.

When he is struck down, Anakin is aware that he will have a child, and expresses he would give the child his lightsaber one day. He is lead to believe Padme died by his actions, although it’s more like the cherry on top rather than a supreme point of irony.

Jedi outfits would vary a bit more than brown robes.

Thank you for taking the time and doing the work. It looks fantastic!!! Very exciting

Do you have a target date for the release?

idk like a year. you have to remember this is a shot for shot correction.

That goes same with the Devastator edition, correct? Or are you trying push that one sooner or even later than this one? I’m just wondering. I’m personally in no hurry or anything. I do understand this kind of stuff does takes quite a bit of time and patience.

DevEd will come out on Christmas.
