I'd have no content changed, except for maybe a few minor shots that actually improved, if only slightly.

Things like the darker sky when we first see the Sandcrawler. But no content or context is changed really.

I'm in the middle of watching the avi rip of MagnoliaFan's Ep1 edit.

Wow. This is very great editing. I like how he not only *removed* stuff (ala Phantom edit) but added some interesting things in as well.
Things like Jar Jar thinking *he* saved *Qui Gon's* life, adding new minor lines and audio for Watto from the N64 Podracing game, and including the deleted waterfall scene from the DVD.

I'll post a full review when I'm done. I would LOVE to have a DVDr of this. Excellent work, MagnoliaFan.

I know some people plan to do this with the official DVDs, SE and THX Laserdiscs.

Rough cuts my ass.

A film out in the public distribution, theatre, home video, etc for over twenty five years is not a rough cut, nor unfinished.

The '97 SE was a "rough cut" but not the originals. George never intended on doing a "SE" later when he made them.

MeBeJedi, are your cut/pastings going to bring the edit to be entirely true to the OT or a "best of both worlds" custom edit?
This does sound like a superb idea to further archive the O-OT, I might add.

How much better in picture quality are the SE laserdiscs than the OT laserdiscs?

And one more misc. question:
By how much does a transfer from PAL to NTSC lower quality?

This isn't a line, per say.

But in ROTJ when Han is running from the shield generator yelling "Move!" and jumps down on the ground some few meters away from it.
Then it cuts back to show a HUGE explosion, covering a great distance.
Cut back to Han who is just barley a few meters away, smiles, and dashes off.

Unintentionally hilarious.

That's why I already own it.

The Original Star Wars Trilogy.

Sure the new DVDs have much better quality, but some of the changes just make it not worth it. I'm deciding if it's worth my $50 or not.
(Also I'm scared that if I do own it, it would take away from my viewings of the original, better versions.
