The tauntaun stiffy thread
Time
This isn't a line, per say.

But in ROTJ when Han is running from the shield generator yelling "Move!" and jumps down on the ground some few meters away from it.
Then it cuts back to show a HUGE explosion, covering a great distance.
Cut back to Han who is just barley a few meters away, smiles, and dashes off.

Unintentionally hilarious.

Boycott Special Edition DVD's - I know you can do it

Actually, I guess that is what an OT-SE hybrid is the answer.

Someone on these boards has to attempt this. Master the DVDs to hard drive. Do the same for the TR47 discs.

Keep it on the DVD version, except when an unbearable change comes in.
Such as new Mos Eisley, Greedo, Jabba Scene*, Wampa, Cloud City intro, Original Chase ending pacing, Jabba's Dance number, shots with sarlacc in it, the ghost shots, and original Ewok singing.

*Actually, that doesn't necessarily need the TR47 version, since it's just cutting something out. But it might be good to change to TR47 for the shots immediatley before and after, so it doesn't "jump" awkwardly.

The ultimate answer to the question.... DVD quality for the most part, with no unbearable changes.
MUWHAHAHAHHA!!!!

After I saw the new DVD ROTJ rip, I just can't believe how much better the quality is.
Being the technical junkie I am, I find it very hard to resist.
But I must.

Please help me.

Oh, wow.

They sure were not kidding when they said the movies would look like they were made yestarday.

That is great, great, great picture quality. Wow. I am impressed with the remastering.

It is very tempting.

I was looking at the unmasking scene (now with no eyebrows, crap) and it seemed fitting.
Imagine me as Luke, and dying Anakin as the original trilogy.

ANAKIN: Now... go, my son. Leave me. (Buy the September DVDs)
LUKE: I'll not leave you here, I've got to save you.
ANAKIN: You already have, Luke. (Bootleg Backup/TR47 DVDrs)
ANAKIN: You were right. You were right about me. Tell your sister, you were right. (The originals are the best. that will never change.)
LUKE: Father... *he crys lightly*

I then went to the ghost scene, to further carry on the fitting-ness.
Luke looks over at the ghosts of the original versions, and smiles. They are still there after all.

But when I saw Hayden there, I shut off RealPlayer and the temptation was gone in an instant.

The quality is DAMN good, but is it really worth the changes??? Gah! Somebody help me!!!

Star Wars DVD Covers
Time
I'm not going to mess with the spines and backs of the prequel covers for two reasons.
1) I can't. I wouldn't know where to start.
2) I only want them to *kinda* blend into the OT DVD covers.

So I altered the front of TPM cover to be yello, and AOTC to be gold-orange.
I'll probably make ROTS a red color with a hint of purple for a maroon-ish color. Depends on what the poster art looks like.

TPM - Yello
AOTC - Orange
ROTS - Maroon
ANH - Green
ESB - Blue
ROTJ - Red

I'm such a perfectionist on things that ultimatley don't matter much. lol

I meant for the prequel covers, but those are good reasons.

Maybe a richer green than is already for ANH for TPM, since Qui-Gon has green.
Then a different shade of blue thatn is already for ESB since it's both major saber colors in AOTC.
Then red for ROTS, even though it's already for ROTJ.

So basically the same as for the OT, for different reasons.

Lucas: Madman or Genius?
Time
I think he was an excellent film-maker, who made one of the greatest film trilogies of all time on a very modest budget and did a GREAT job! (obviously)

Then he got cocky, and decided to try to "improve" his old films. This turned out to be disaster for us fans. The whole aspect of hard earnest work was ruined by adding computerized BS all over them. Bad, bad, bad, bad move. Bad bad bad bad!!!

Episode I was actually pretty good, IMHO. Not as good as the OT obviously, but it wasn't as horrid as many make it out to be.
Episode II went downhill. I didn't really like it much. It is the least of the Star Wars films yet far.

2004 DVD Special Total BS Edition: To this I say, WTF?!?!?!?!???! Horrid changes to even further SCREW the original films, ala '97 SE. Worse, worse, worse, worse, worse!!!! Bad bad bad bad!!!!!

Episode III: Let me just say this... I hope for Star Wars to end on a good note. I think I won't be let down in that respect, at least not by Revenge of the Sith.

Any further BS afterward (Such as TV shows, TV movies, channels, misc. other crap): Probably won't be good. At all.

So yes... he *was* excellent, but then he... lost it.

Neat-o.
I'm only gonna tamper with the poster art for the prequel DVDs, since the spines and backs are actually pretty good as is.

And I wan't the PT and OT DVDs to be *somewhat* different. But the Criterion poster art is just such a good idea.

What colors would everyone suggest for each prequel cover? Lol, I can't pick!
