My preferred versions of the OT will be Harmy's DeSpecialized versions, once they're finished.

And when I feel like inflicting pain on myself by watching the prequels, I'll watch a new set of them every time. There are so many fan edits, and it'll make it more fun to have it be different. 

By the way, Frink, with all your knowledge of the intricacies of the prequel fan edits, it may be worthwhile for you to put together ten or so "prequel run-throughs" where you pair different fan edits together that are compatible.

For example, you could pair L8wrtr's TPM, Spence's AOTC, and Stankpac's ROTS. Or ADigitalMan's TPM, DiamondCut's AOTC, and AEMovieGuy's ROTS. The only difficult part is making sure their changes are compatible with each other. Just an idea, and you could even give each "run through" a composite score.

Wow, and you ever fixed the zoomed in view of the Falcon cockpit. That's really impressive to rotoscope the entire outside of the frame and pull it off seamlessly!

If there's a sequence you can't think of much for, you might add an MST3K silhouette and have someone give commentary.

I think it'd be funnier to see commonplace objects fall down the shaft, as most viewers likely would miss any references. Maybe a banana peel, or glass bottles. 

Or a dead cat.

Another suggestion:

Remove Qui-Gon's line to tell them to take off. That way when Obi-Wan says to take off, it sounds like he's abandoning Qui-Gon.

Suggestion for the Tatooine duel:

During the last shot as Maul watches the ship fly away, add his bike speeding away into the distance.

I almost fell out of my chair laughing at the *sounds* when Maul approaches them. Nice touch!

You're saying the rotoscoping source for the cave fight was the GOUT, not the '97 SE? Wow, that's all the more impressive!

The only other sabers I'd even think you'd consider de-specializing would be the ANH duel. 

Can you post a few screencaps of the layers used to rotoscope the cave duel?

Y'know, I think this might be the most genuine attempt at an *enjoyable* Episode I edit.

As long as the jokes are dense enough throughout the film to hold our attention. I can picture watching it with someone who's never seen it, not telling them what it is.

For what it's worth, this will likely be my definitive version of the trilogy as well. 

(And thank you for doing a 720p version too, as nothing I own is capable of playing 1080p footage back to me!)

Luke and Vader battling on a Star Destroyer, removing much of the Jabba stuff, and even a new ending. Very promising. Cool indeed!

Oh, and my earlier comment was meant to contrast my distaste for the Classic Edition with your current efforts which I really like.

Well, a 720p version 3.0 using the GOUT V3 as a source sounds very exciting. :)

Hacking together older footage and the new HD or DVD source was one thing that never convinced me about the "Classic Editions."

I think your approach of using the same source for as long as possible prevents it from looking as jarring. Especially when you could have salvaged part of one shot; just don't bother and let it be what it is. It looks better that way.
