As soon as I get a small FX package back, plus encoding time.

It'd be for Kerr to do, as all I'm doing is consulting and providing feedback. It's really a misnomer to call it an HD version of Sharkey's, though that's where it began.
Kerr's working on it. The Hobbit project will really be his work, whereas I've been more helpful to him with the LOTR stuff. (I haven't ripped or tinkered with them, so all I can do is spitball.)
If memory serves, Kerr's version doesn't cut back to Gandalf there and instead has two consecutive shots of the WK, making a jump cut. Neither is ideal.
Are you planning on using Other Boleyn Girl footage to have Padme live through ROTS, or are you trimming Leia's dialogue about her in ROTJ?
Interesting project. I wonder if machete Star Wars quadrilogy edits would do well to remove the "Episode __" subtitle from the opening crawls.
Very good to hear. I hope Ady is able to craft something that will make prior efforts pale in comparison.

Hal 9000 - in case adywan is too busy to get back to you on this, or doesn't want to cover it in this thread, let me refer you to a much more recent update to do with that issue near the bottom this link - http://swrevisited.wordpress.com/rotjr-facts/
(for the record, I'm happy with this decision and am hoping it means he won't be going down the 'The Other Boleyn Girl' footage route. It was a clever enough idea as a way to make sense of Leia's ROTJ dialogue, but I'm hoping this means he'll be sticking with actual ROTS footage one way or another. But that's all for another day)
Hmm... It mentions removing some extraneous dialogue from Leia, but it doesn't sound from that like he plans to remove the menation of her mother. Or do you know that for a fact? It seems like he still plans to have Padme survive ROTS.

And also the problem with Leia remembering her real mother but Padme dies in ROTS will be fixed in the PT, so no changes are needed in ROTJ.
Do you plan on using The Cutter's technique of borrowing footage from The Other Boleyn Girl? I'm sure you'll do more than that, even if that's an element of it. Just curious how you plan to go about this, since I took a stab at it recently (though purely through editing).
I agree totally about Yoda's saber. Green was an understandable but silly choice. I think his saber pre-AOTC was depicted as yellow, as Windu's was blue.
EDIT: Reminds me of Redlettermedia joking that when Yoda confronted Palpatine they expected him to shoot out green lightning.

I don't suppose the machete/flashback order would work for these.
Fellowship of The Ring
The Two Towers
[An Unexpected Journey]
Desolation of Smaug
Battle of Five Armies
Return of the King
A) It doesn't really matter.
and B) I don't see why not.
Seems like there are some superficial continuity differences, but nothing that would plague you as you watch them, surely. It's not like you don't know it's an edit and will probably be different.
Criticism is fine, but personal attacks aren't.
The quality of GL's and Adywan's alterations is irrelevant because what matters is that one suppresses the original version and the other doesn't. I don't watch Adywan's version of ANH but I admire it as a project. I object to the SE(+) not out of intrinsic qualities, but because of their exclusivity. Were it not for that, I'd peaceably ignore them and watch the original. It's really not a difficult concept, and doesn't hinge on subjective appraisals of the changes.
All I can suggest would be to read through the comprehensive (for your purposes) change lists and see if anything I've done would be a problem. I don't know the '08 series very well, but I understand even the prequels themselves have continuity problems with it. ("General Greivous, your shorter than I expected," etc.) if you like a PT edit and there's incongruity, maybe you can come up with an in-universe rationalization.

so your edit doesn't affect the two clone wars series then.
I don't understand what you mean. They didn't directly factor into anything I did. My edits omit things but Padme's fate is the only thing that jumps out at me as a substantial continuity change that might oppose EU stuff. But I hope future films don't reference it explicitly, since it already contradicts ROTJ.
Yes. Then 720p, then the DVD5. Repeat for Ep3. It takes some time.
I see the purple line you're talking about. It's extremely subtle. I can't find any reason for it, though the encoding process for V2 of LOE was less than ideal. It should not be a problem now that my workflow has been fixed, but I'll keep a sharp eye on that in the results.
About V3 changes, most of them are described here: http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Star-Wars-Episode-III-Labyrinth-Of-Evil-Finished/post/727517/#TopicPost727517
There's a few more things, like removing another instance where Obi-Wan addresses R2 by name, and other tiny tweaks.
Enough, please. I found a good amount of inspiration from Q2's work, including using The Cutter's idea for depicting Padme surviving the film. Prequel edits are plentiful and it's good to have options. Every decision that goes into an edit is a balancing act, and we often elect different goals. At least at this point, I'd say Q2's trilogy is the best option for someone who wants to (try to) preserve OT surprises in a chronological viewing.
How many times do we need to reiterate the difference between Lucas' changes and suppression of the original versions and fan projects that present mere unofficial alternatives?
Y... yeah.
Nope
Eh, makes it feel exotic. And bri-ish.
